  • A very nice anecdote about not only a thoroughly decent man, but one of the greatest talents of all time.

  • This song makes me think of an incindent that happened in Goodletsville, TN. years ago when I was driving and 18 wheeler. Marty and I wound up at the same intersection and it was really my turn to go but he went first. As he went by he took the time to roll down his window, wave, and say thanks. That was when I saw it was the great Marty Robbins who didn't know me from Adam but took time to do that. I feel he lived out the massage of this song by doing that. A decent man, great singer. RIP Marty

  • Hi Alan! Its bin a long time sinds I gave my comment but there is no day that I don't listen and watch your vids. But as alway's they are great and alway's a blessing to my ears.Marty has the most beautiful voice ever and its alway's a pleasure to listen to his songs and also now in Christmastime with the beautiful Christmassongs. Its a time that we miss our dearones who past away the most but it also brings us joy and laughther .Merry Christmas and a happy NewYear to you and your loveones.

  • daveyanna, your comments about "accurate musical technology" are slightly misleading. Do you mean having perfect pitch or refer to song construction or something else? While neither Elvis or Marty are operatic quality singers they both had perfect pitch. What sets them apart from mediocre is their charisma and stage presence. Marty was also a very good song writer. Without the Col., Elvis probably still would've been a star. Not as big, but a star. How good an entertainer are you?

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Beautiful song and version. Marty;s ther best. I was able to see one of his last concerts. No one entertains like he did. This will be on my gospel cd. Thanks for posting it.

  • Marty remains my favorite singer

  • It is beautiful Charlie, thanks for thinking of me. We lost a good one when we lost Marty Robbins. You are absolutely right, he sings like he believes it. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Gwen

  • Mr. George Bev. Shea made a smash of this grand hymn. I think this is the best I've heard. Thank you so much. Charlie

  • I used to listen to this song when I was a little boy and over the years have searched for it again and did not know the title until I was surfing. Thank you! Thank you!

  • Thanks for the posting. What a very inspiring song this also my daily prayer song. Thank you Lord for sending His Son to redempt our sin.

  • Beautiful Song, done Beautifully, by Marty, as well as by, Jim Reeves, and Mel Tillis does a great version also.

  • TY for this video. Marty Robbins is one of my favorite singers.

  • your friendly happy atheist says this is one of the most beautiful things i ever heard - the vocal, and the words

  • Marty was one of the greatest singers of all time. God gave him the talent to reach people's hearts with his songs and to touch their souls. There will never be another like him, now he sings with the angels for the Lord. Thank you to everyone that uploads his songs for us all to enjoy.

  • I hate that marty is so underrated he was the only man that could make me cry by his singing

  • what fantastic sentiments, if only everyone could live by these princibles. and Marty's voice is brilliant and has the right inflection for this song.

  • One of the all-time greats in both Country Music and Gospel music. I think this one beats all the versions of it I've heard...

  • Like going to church...no other voice like Marty's!

  • never knew he sang this, Oct,09, incredible

  • listen the same song by Elvis !

  • lovely

  • A wonderful hymn sung by a great singer.

  • This is fantastic, Mel Tillis does a teriffic job on this song also.

  • the best i ever heard

  • Ive only heard this done by Elvis but Marty does an awesome version aswell. What a great voice

  • Jim Reeves and Marty Robbins-Two of the best Gospel singing voices ever-

  • @candw87 Amen! You took the words right out of my mouth!

  • @candw87 .. I think you forgot Elvis .. who was the best.

  • @daveyanna Sorry l'm not an Elvis fan -everyone is entitled to their own opinion

  • @candw87 ..well .. what is it that makes you not an Elvis fan ?

  • @daveyanna Hi Every one has their likes and dislikes-Elvis - among many of the early Rock and Rollers was one of mine -l am not of his generation -sorry -but that's how it is Peter U K

  • @candw87 .. of course each to his own. You don't have to apologise for your preferences .. really. I came upon Marty Robbins because a youtuber had sung "Don't Worry" as a tribute to Elvis .. and I wondered why since Elvis didn't ever sing this song. I was amazed by Marty's rendition and love it. What is interesting is that many singers of that time gave renditions of the same songs eg: "I'm so lonesome I could cry" and a lot of the gospel songs too ...

  • @daveyanna He had a mediocre voice and often missed pitch.

  • @MrShurshot ... Marty has a voice .. but i t is is one dimensional compared to The King. I find myself nodding off when Marty sings. Elvis missed pitch? Very rare but I guess he did so many live concerts that there were mistakes every now and then.

  • @daveyanna Different Strokes! I personnaly like accurate musical technology; not Col. Parker's BS. Without his hype, Elvis would never have made it out of Tupelo. As to his acting ability - don't even go there. His main claim to fame was his sexual stamina!

  • @MrShurshot ... I like accuracy also .. I think it is inaccurate to slate Elvis because he had help with publicity. Talentless individuals do not last. Publicity is a tool and pumping an artist with no talent is like lighting a fire in the rain. Very hard and then you must give up. Elvis won his fame because his voice appealed to millions and it still does.

  • @daveyanna The millions to whom Elvis's voice appealed were largely musically ignorant, as is the vast majority of American; My evidence: Heavy metal and rap.

Now leave me alone in my dotage!

  • @MrShurshot i am Not musically ignorant

  • @62Elvis And it took you 4 months to figure that out?! Why do you shout only the first letter of a word? Run out of breathe? BTW, all four of the Jordonaires were better vocalists than your Big E. If Col. Parker had met his brother, Enos the Penis, first; we would never have heard of Elvis. Try not to take so long to write again. I miss your lovin'.

  • @MrShurshot u miss my lovin??? that sounds queer

  • @daveyanna I find your use of the verb "slate" to be confusing. Which dictionary are you using?

  • @MrShurshot .. "slate" is common parlance slang known in the UK. You'll find it in most good dictionaries. slate2

    vb (tr) Informal chiefly Brit

    1. to criticize harshly; censure

    2. to punish or defeat severely

  • Top Of The List For The Lyrics Of This Song, Marty Robbins had a unique voice that still hasn't been surpassed in my opinion.

     Dixie Smith

  • @wendixies .. what about Elvis?

  • @daveyanna ...Elvis sang this song also ... arguably better than Marty's good .. but slightly dull .. version.

  • My heart is healed every time, Listens to this song.
