I see what some people are saying, it was 28,500 new I'm pretty sure a lot of people didn't buy them when they came out and you can find them with 100 miles and dealerships because they have just sat. Subsequently, the Civic was exact on his posted time versus real time which means he wins (for this type of racing match). It gives every car a fair chance that way. You only compete with your own times but both cars will end about the same time (assuming they timed their runs correctly).

the suspension is beefed up too. it's not JUST a body kit and exhaust. it's a collectors car. they only made 1000 so the re-sale value down the road will be GREAT on these cars.
the resale value would of been great if the car has something impressive. Collector's car or not, it's performance is subpar at the price it was sold at. For the mugen Si to have a nice resale value, it should of at least surpass the regular Si in terms of HP. But it doesn't. I don't see why anyone would want to collect this. If they came with Type r engine, it would of been completely different result.
for this price,you could get a cobalt SS turbo that would whoop the shit out of almost any car under 30k and with the extra 7k or so you could make it outrun evos,z's,bimers and wrxs all day. : )

15.6 is ok but could be a little faster but not mid 14s like many try to say. It doesnt have the hp/weight to be able to do that. it has 197hp and 3000lbs. My 8 has 194whp and same weight and more tq and will run mid low 14s all day long.

my friend has one too. :) I like the car but, too small for me and I have kids to so not enough room. I like the 8 due to it being a better all around car for what I want/need :) wanted to make sure you knew it was bracket racing and not the s2k starting off slow. In bracket racing, a metro can beat a viper if the metro can duplicate its quailifying time and the viper is a little slower than its qualifying time.
this is bracket racing. the s2k didnt start off late, it started off with the difference in time in qualifying. For those of you that think the regular civic si can run 14 flat with no mods, I would like to see a vid of that along with the time slip. The hp/weight/gearing does not support that at all. Either you got lucky and honda 'accidentally' put the type r or s2k engine in the car or you have mods you are not fessing up to. period.
when your ave is a 15 and not near the low end, will believe you a bit more. My 8 runs, on ave, 14.7 but, i have had faster and slower times even into the low 15s. My best has been a 14.25 but have had a 15.3 to go with it. I go by ave and not by best.
It happens, remember the factory freaks with almos 200whp 100% stock. They do exists I have seen them on my local dyno shop in where I make on my 06 Si 198whp with I/H/E. There are a few Si that without any modification has made mid 14's
sounds like a type r si and not a mugen. the type RR has the same output as the s2k but slower off the line cause of being fwd at 0-60 in about 5.8. I wont say you are wrong as I have seen some weird things with cars.
I wont deny that. question is, what it stock? Probably not as my friend had one 2008 model and my 8 would pull on him at highway speed no problem. Off the line, he never has a chance with it being fwd unless i launched bad which everyone does from time to time. Sometimes you have a run where everything goes right and sometimes you dont. I have heard of 8s doing around 14flat stock. I dont know as mine has been mid low 14s if i launch it good and I have some small mods too but not much.
regular si is lighter and faster on top end in the first couple of gears. the mugen is heavier at 3k lbs and the regular si is closer to s2k weight. This is what the cars run. With a good hook up, you can get your et down but speed is going to be about the same. very high 14s to mid 15s is the norm of this car.

they probably arent that much faster. statistics show JDM motors usually dont have any more than 50hp over the USDM models. if they are seriously $40k anyone who buys one should be shot on site for being a complete fucking moron.

alright. stock for stock... the cobalt ss turbo is best bang for buck performance wise. but theres no point in arguing about shit. everyone has different interests and want different things out of a car.... power, looks, handling, gas mileage, seating, features, etc. i have a 09 sedan si cuz i wanted the look (i like it, but i understand not everyone does) the gas mileage was good and power and handling was good for me. plus its a dd and can seat 4-5 people. mugen is overpriced though

dudes the civic is a stock engine form an SI with mugen bodykit and suspension with a 5 hp boost from the exhaust.you cant expect a 2900 lb 202 hp car to run 14s.I believe mid-low 15s is what this car it rated at.And The s2ks are nice,but theyre not race cars stock,14s is pretty good unless its modded.

the suspension is beefed up too. it's not JUST a body kit and exhaust. it's a collectors car. they only made 1000 so the re-sale value down the road will be GREAT on these cars.

the resale value would of been great if the car has something impressive. Collector's car or not, it's performance is subpar at the price it was sold at. For the mugen Si to have a nice resale value, it should of at least surpass the regular Si in terms of HP. But it doesn't. I don't see why anyone would want to collect this. If they came with Type r engine, it would of been completely different result.

yeah... but cobalt's exterior screams cheap econo box with no class for kids. For the 37k I'd rather have the camaro SS over a modded cobalt SS. I'd let the cobalt SS beat me in everything, but it's a Camaro, way more attractive than the Cobalt.

I don't want a sports car that out performs but looks like crap. The cobalt has this look that just make you think it's cheap. If I got the money for camaro, there is no way I'm getting a cobalt. If I don't have the money, I'd get a baseline 370z over a cobalt SS with 7k worth of mod in it. Cobalt might be a cool car and all, it just doesn't seems that way. It's like the Saturn Ion redline, its cool and all, but looks kind of chessy. I don't care if camaro is fat, they always have been that way.

Im not hating but think logically for a second 22000+oh i don't know 6,000 and the fact that its a limited production model, so its definitely worth 30 grand. Would i buy one... no i would rather buy a reg civic with a 5/spd manual and then also buy like an 05 GTO to mess around in, but thats just my opinion

15.6 is ok but could be a little faster but not mid 14s like many try to say. It doesnt have the hp/weight to be able to do that. it has 197hp and 3000lbs. My 8 has 194whp and same weight and more tq and will run mid low 14s all day long.

my friend has one too. :) I like the car but, too small for me and I have kids to so not enough room. I like the 8 due to it being a better all around car for what I want/need :) wanted to make sure you knew it was bracket racing and not the s2k starting off slow. In bracket racing, a metro can beat a viper if the metro can duplicate its quailifying time and the viper is a little slower than its qualifying time.

this is bracket racing. the s2k didnt start off late, it started off with the difference in time in qualifying. For those of you that think the regular civic si can run 14 flat with no mods, I would like to see a vid of that along with the time slip. The hp/weight/gearing does not support that at all. Either you got lucky and honda 'accidentally' put the type r or s2k engine in the car or you have mods you are not fessing up to. period.

when your ave is a 15 and not near the low end, will believe you a bit more. My 8 runs, on ave, 14.7 but, i have had faster and slower times even into the low 15s. My best has been a 14.25 but have had a 15.3 to go with it. I go by ave and not by best.

It happens, remember the factory freaks with almos 200whp 100% stock. They do exists I have seen them on my local dyno shop in where I make on my 06 Si 198whp with I/H/E. There are a few Si that without any modification has made mid 14's

sounds like a type r si and not a mugen. the type RR has the same output as the s2k but slower off the line cause of being fwd at 0-60 in about 5.8. I wont say you are wrong as I have seen some weird things with cars.

I wont deny that. question is, what it stock? Probably not as my friend had one 2008 model and my 8 would pull on him at highway speed no problem. Off the line, he never has a chance with it being fwd unless i launched bad which everyone does from time to time. Sometimes you have a run where everything goes right and sometimes you dont. I have heard of 8s doing around 14flat stock. I dont know as mine has been mid low 14s if i launch it good and I have some small mods too but not much.

regular si is lighter and faster on top end in the first couple of gears. the mugen is heavier at 3k lbs and the regular si is closer to s2k weight. This is what the cars run. With a good hook up, you can get your et down but speed is going to be about the same. very high 14s to mid 15s is the norm of this car.
