  • I don't play bass but I wish that I could. Even more so, I wish I could play like Rob here. RIP man

  • Now lets see if you can play this with 2 fingers like steve harris

  • @Devnization He's dead, so he will probably never play this like Steve Harris ..

  • fuck look his hand moving HOLY SHIT!!! you are awesome man

  • This guy proves that playing bass with a pick, Is awesome!

  • cool!!!, a few mistakes, but very cool :)

  • holy crap i love the triplets. u sir are incredible.

  • he looks like nicko!

  • Rickenbacker FTW

  • Man, you are playing things made by most awesome bassist ever on most awesome Rickenbacker I've ever seen. Pure awesomness :) BTW, could you make some tutorials over Steve-like bass playing? Those triplets are sick, I'm sure that a lot of people wants to learn how to do this.

    Up the Irons!!

  • RIP dude, amazing playing

  • ooooh...i love that clanking sound on that ricker,

  • wow u dont see many bassist play rickenbachers anymore...i wanted one for awhile when i used to watch old cliff burton videos...but i guess i lost interest in them...they are great basses though

  • This guy is great!

  • i do not know how u dont look at your bass the whole time u play

  • the song is easy ;-)

  • porra dude , you are amazing !!!!!!!!

thanks for play bass you play very very good !!!

  • just awesome! the evil that men do is one of my favourites! and solo part on bass is greatest part!

  • what bass is that?? someone plz reply,

oh yeah awsome cover ur gallops rock and u do it with fingers

  • I think it's a Rickenbacker LRRG

  • yep it;s a rickenbacker

  • Its a Rikenbacher 4001

  • Hey man, i love your videos....you are a true inspiration for LRRG wannabes all over the world. Up the irons

    btw, LOVE the ric

  • My favorite song on the album... this is sick. I swear i was born in the wrong time. shoulda lived in the 80's.

  • same with me...I don't fit in! I should have been born in the late 60's! or anytime in the 60's, as long as I would've been part of this movement.

  • IDEM

  • Be glad you're living now! You got decades of music available to you a click away.

  • I really dig your bass sound - very unique.

  • I love how it fits maiden, but it doesn't sound like he was trying to imitate Harris. Its definitely its own tone, and its sick.

    Keep it up man!

  • amazing

  • what scale do u use to create those fills?

  • a Rickenbacker

  • There are better ones in my opinion, but then again, opinions are opinions, and I thank you for yours. Makes me feel good and strive to be better.

You are correct about the age of my bass....it's a 1974 Rickenbacker 4001. I've had it since about 1987...around the time this album came out, actually.

    I'm getting old.

  • no friggin way..! i thought you were a teenager. no offense man. keep on rockin! \m/ i'm into bass too.

  • amazing speed with your fingers but...

watch your sound, the clicking/ clacking sound... work that away.

  • I can definitely hear the Clop clop CLOP in that Ric. Great playing, your galloping fingers are faster than the FPS of your camera. This only further disproves the misconception that bass is easier than electric. They both have their "easys" and their "hards". Thinking of taking up bass myself, just so I can look that cool doing it :)

  • k bajo es ese?

  • i love playing this song on bass but i cant to nearly half as good aas u ur a god at bass

    up the irons \M/

  • do The rime of the ancient mariner I just learnt it on guitar amazing song live.

  • i play a guitar but my deep wish is to play a bass....been wanting that for like 6 months but im broke as hell lol.u play like god...are u in some kind a band?

  • A song request please.can you play 'Great good of God' from their last album? ooh! very nice play!

  • so it's basically official you're now one of my heroes

probably be putting it on my myspace sometime soon as "that amazing LRRG dude zokiakironfist"

    =D

keep it cus i honestly can't get enough of these videos

  • good job

    u have an AMAZING bass

ive always wanted one of those but theyre really pricey

u just need to work a lil more on ur gallop

practice doing it with only 2 fingers

it hurts at first but after a while u see the difference

  • Sick Cover Dude,

Iron Maiden On Bass Can Be tough If You Don't have the right hands,

    The Gallops Get To You!

  • Brilliant Dude! You are very talented!

    Best Wishes

  • gay demaissss

  • all i can say is GREAT SUPERB keep it up...Respect IRON MAIDEN...RESPECT U too

  • Respect right back at you for sitting through my cheezy video. You guys have stamina!

  • Very nice Rob, kind a similar sound and feel to The Trooper.

  • I believe that you are right about that, though I had not thought of it before.

  • E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T! I think you should try more Maiden songs that you haven't done yet even though the ones you've already played are superb! try something of the 7 SON OF A 7 SON ALBUM or the SOMEWHERE IN TIME one! I'LL BE HAPPY TO LISTEN TO THEM! KEEP PLAYING ROCK AND HARRIS MASTERPIECES!!!!!

    SO LONG

  • one of my favourite maiden songs and u MASTERED IT DUDE!!!!!!! I LUV how u get into ur playing and thats Awesome lol i have to stare at my frets when im playing...another great cover...and by the way ur triplets sound AMAZING!

  • good job man.cool rickenbacker.aniwes wads urr bass gear?

  • amazing!

  • triplets from hell!!

btw the tune of the bass is amazing

  • The only other person that has played bass triplets that well was Steve Harris himself.

Do you know off the top of your head how much your Ric cost?

  • $450, but that was 1987.

  • Damn, I thought you'd just purchased it recently, because, if I recall correctly, that line was discontinued. Either that, or a similar one.

  • Yes, it was discontinued in favor of the 4003. That was sometime around the 80's, but I have no idea when. All I know is this one landed in my lap, and I grabbed it when I got the chance. At the time, I was a huge Geddy/Cliff Burton fan.

  • Same here, Cliff was my biggest influence to become a musician, and Geddy too naturally, since he influenced Cliff. It's a damn shame too, the 4003 just doesn't have the same charm as the 4001.

  • Nice man! That's my favorite Iron Maiden song! You think you could make an instructional video on your technique?

  • It is in the works. I've just been very busy lately...I'll get around to it soon, though.

  • I get to see Iron Maiden in June at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary, AB.

    Good job, once again.

    Up the fuckin Irons!

  • ill be sure to rock as hard as i can.

  • this might sound stupid lol, but you are one of my biggest inspirations, you kept me playing, i was gonna give up until i noticed how much fun you had, its all about the music and having a good time.

  • Life would be empty indeed if I could not drain my stresses into my music. Not only that, but it is hard to have low self-esteem when your cranking out some serious metal. I'm glad that my goofball antics have helped at least one person...lol.

    Rock on!

  • you are the man

    rock on

  • "it's the evil you do"

  • Hi!

Nice... I have the exact same Ric: '75 fireglo! I've just starting to learn 3 finger. Where are you resting your thumb while strumming the E string? I cant seem to keep up the tempo on the E string. Thanks for the video.

  • I float my thumb when I am playing on the E string usually, and then rest it when going to the A string, sometimes grabbing it with both the thumb and forefinger and snapping it upwards.

  • you are good at bass guitar :(

  • I went off this song.... now you put me back onto it again thanks alot... 5 stars!

  • just awesom, i love the way you play the song, because you change a litlle bit the song, giving it a better look, becuse the original one is mora easy, 5 stars, by the way i love you bass, what model is it?

  • It is a model 4001 from 1974. Thanks a ton for the nice comment and rock on!!

  • dont worry about it, i love iron maiden, and i play bass too, and is like a influence see this kind and vidos ^^

  • Oh, I've been meaning to ask... Do you record using line in?

  • Yes, I certainly do. I use an M-Audio Fasttrack.

  • Awesome!! I have watched all of your Maiden and Primus videos. Amazing. I'm a great Maiden fan and I would really appreciate to hear you play 'The Clairvoyant', the second half of 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner', and maybe 'Transylvania'. Up the Irons!

  • I may just do that. Give me some time, though, my request list is rather long.

  • sick playing. and congrats w/ getting the harris fingering. at times it looks a bit like John Entwistle's style haha...

btw what kind of strings are on the rick?

    just curious

  • Hmm..I thought I answered this one before. I use Dean Markley Blue Steels...medium light gauge. As far as the fingering...yeah, I play in a totally different position than Steve does.

  • Awesome job Rob. It's amazing how many think Steve does his triplets w/ three fingers! My twin bro (yes there is another) plays bass, and got deeply into Steve's playing backn in the day. He was convinced that at times Steve would even use 4 fingers - do you remember the vid for Run to the Hills? At the end of Steve's cool fill (right after the solos when Bruce is doing the ascending vocal), his right hand fingers are flapping and it LOOKS like he is using four, hahaha.

  • He uses two most of the time but sometimes three. He is also widely quoted as saying that his technique is not something to study because it is not "right" by any means. I've watched him many times in my video collection, and he clearly uses two for most of his work. Those other fingers flap because the tendon of your pinky and ring finger are connected.

  • Wait... what? You use two fingers? I always thought you were using three... *Shrugs*

I play slightly weird. I use my middle and ring fingers together. I started doing that because I hated when my pinky would curl up, and now I feels weird to not play like that.

  • I use three, but when doing Maiden triplets, I use two at a time. I switch between using the middle and ring finger in opposition to the index. That is how I am not wearing out early in the tune any more.

  • ROFL LOOK AT HIM DANCE XD

  • Well, if this is a hidden nugget? I found it, and I love it! Up the Irons! \m/

  • not many people found this video cuz u uploaded the rush one after it and the rush one showed up on the first page.

    nice cover man 5/5

  • Yes, that happens. But I am not upset about it or anything. We'll just call this video a hidden nugget.

  • Up the Irons!!!! Exelente music....

  • sweet one of my fav bass lines
