  • who the fuck was that 1 dislike?

  • beautiful hair

  • Good song!

  • awesome

  • The best ever

  • reminds me of the old times in a bedroom.

  • which one's Oates? That's the mustache right? I love his guitar. I want it!

  • man what is the story on TS's guitar ?...not a Strat right ? looks like what a Tom Anderson carved top would be in the modern era...what a tone, you NYC/Philly/NJ cats had access to all the newest gear/pickups/funky shit...as i sat in my coliche ditch in w. tx.

  • wow! could you tell me what it was like to hang out with the duo, must of been so cool! you have such soul playing the drums! if that would of been my 1st concert that i watched, would of been hard to match! 1st class :)

  • Wow skinny jeans existed back then

  • I'm gonna go feather my hair right now. <3 H & O

  • words to live by

  • I just heard this on the radio and love it!

  • Doesn't cut it without using a proper Fender Rhodes. Its like replacing a harley dave for a yamaha virago

  • I freaking love them so much. Have my whole life.

  • i saw them in 7o's in Glasgow great concert-still listening after all these years.

  • best live version! great song!!

  • RIP T-Bone ...you're a huge reason why I love Hall and Oates since my childhood....you were always just as important and I know Hall and Oates would agree

Thank You for sharing your gifts with the world

  • Amen to that.

I last saw him Oct 23rd last year at their final show at the Spectrum in Philly.

He was great and as nice as he is talented.

    I will miss him.

  • @loozer4life69 T Bone was one of my top favorits too, but this is not T Bone in the video. It's Stephen Dees.

  • Anyone remember Todd Sharpe playing in the band "The Case of E.T. Hooley" in Cleveland Hts.? They Rocked!

  • thanks for posting!

  • WE used to ROCK these guys in the dorm when I was in College. Being at an all Black College the artist had to "BRING IT" (as if we were experts) :), and Hall and Oats did that. They were ALWAYS playing on somebody's boom box. WOW, windows open in the dorm, hot southern days and jamming Hall and Oats.

  • "Pamela Swann ..."

If you're out there somewhere girl, I still remember you sneaking your pocket radio into our 3rd grade class and playing "Rich Girl" with the volume real low at J.C. Parks elementary when the music was happening at the time.

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • I like this version of the song better than the album version as well. Like the slower pace...it sounds much more bluezy and soulful.

  • So much cooler sounding than the album version. The bass player is rockin'. Nice little peaks and fill-ins.

  • Omigoshh sooo good.

  • thank you man.

  • my opinion*

  • I agree with your opinion.

  • everyone on youtube knows that today's music is crap compared to the early and late 70's and 80's and im not saying thats a fact but in y opinion that is.

  • The beat of this song sounds more late 80s, 90s, and today

  • Comment removed

  • I recently discovered my love Hall & Oates, and it's all because of this song (:

  • i think daryl hall should show his guitar in his videos

  • Fuckin looove this song

  • dude im 12 and i still like this music

  • great LIVE rendition of this classic

  • yeah ,it was a nice time.

i am 15 years old to that time !

  • Well John doesn't sing on most of the songs, although he is great. Daryl does, plus they are both in the front, and how does daryl look mean?? he looks cute, cuter than john...

  • Because Daryl was, and still is, a freakin' fantastic singer, that's why.

  • I f-ing looooove this!!!!

    Happy!! :)

  • I used to have the exact same hair-do as Daryl

  • These were the days when the men looked so sexy with the hair and the tight pants!! Man these guys are good singers and nice to look at.

  • Too f***ing cool!

  • Does anyone know if this the same Stephen Dees on bass that went on to form the band-Novo Combo? If so, he had a really good voice. In my opinion this was Hall & Oates' best band.

  • Yes, it's the same Stephen Dees and if you want to see what he's currently up to, just google his new band's name, Bandees.

  • @mypsmells hey everyone stephen dees is my grandpa!! everyone loves my grandpa!!!!

  • @dccdoll : Is he really? If so, very cool

  • That guy has GORGEOUS hair. I just want to fluff it.

  • damm eddie look at you,.. love it, jo

  • Awesome!!!!

  • My Cousin Todd Sharp from Cleveland, Ohio on Lead Guitar. My Wife Beth is actually his cousin. I'm related by injection. FABULOUS GUITARIST SINGER SONGWRITER and a great Family man to boot!!!!

  • The guitar lick at 1:22 is absolutely perfect color...

  • RITCH girl.. where art thou?

  • oh, love this song!

  • It's kind of stunning, frankly, to think that our German public broadcasters used to put this kind of stuff on the airwaves...just heads above the kind of stuff they broadcast these days, in terms of ambition.

Are the graphics really original though? I feel like they don't look like the kind of thing ARD would be pulling off in the late seventies.

  • I think the really amazing thing is how good the sound on this broadcast is. I believe it was mixed by Robert Zachary.

  • INdeed, the mix-down is amazing considering it was a tv-mix in the 70's.. IT sounds very good!

  • I can't speak to ARD's ambition, but the quality is still there. The German license media is venerable, and has remained the finest in Europe. Perhaps all that lacks is the ability (or the need) to compete with MTV, which is where pop music went across Europe. Today's pop style is so hard to make interesting live since it's so synthesized and is most appropriate for music videos. When it's live jazz, rock or orchestra, ARD still sets the standard as always, and broadcasts enviably.

  • Je ne me souvenais pas que cette chanson était d'eux........à mon époque, on avait plutôt la radio que la télévision. Super!

  • I have this DVD it is absolutely my favorite, thanks for posting. This is a classic to save.

  • ... and they got Chachi on guitar, cool!

    ;)

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Grüße aus Bremen!

Hab leider nur die letzten Jahre vom Musikladen mitgekriegt, das Popformat Formel 1hat mir nicht so getaugt, aber war damals die eintige Möglichkeit, Videos zu gucken.

  • Daryl's voice is in TOP shape! In the years that followed, the tessitura of this song caught up with him. But here, no trace of struggle.

  • The guitarist with the yellow pants bears a striking resemblence to Javier Bardem.

  • In case people watching don't realise, this was video was uploaded by Eddie Zyne who just happens to be playing drums on all of this Musikladen stuff. Thanks for the memories Eddie - this was the best live band I can remember from that era. I saw you every time you came to the UK.

  • Thanks for your kind comments Alan. It means alot to me. After all these years, this band still ranks at the very top. I'm still playin', currently with Tony Stevens SLOW RiDE. Just check for the other videos I've uploaded. To see web pages on the new band, just do a Google search of SlowRideRocks.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I'm glad you're still playing. I was never fortunate enough to see H&O back in the day since they never made it to Ireland. Getting glimpses of their live performances from the 70s is just such a joy for me.

    Many good wishes to you.

  • musikladen extra 1977. the session they recorded for the musikladen in 1976 was better.

  • check out part 3 - "Is is a Star?"

and part 8 - "Room To Breathe"/"Johnny Gore"

they are both from the first year.

I think, although there is bias in my opinion,

    that both years are great.

  • the kid with the stripped shirt n yellow pants is TODD SHARP on guitar... he is from cleveland,oh and i went to jr.high school with that brat.... he always had much charisma but i did not realize that that dude with go on to HALL N OATES....ROD STEWART...ERIC CLAPTON....FLEETWOOD MAC as their studio/session guitarist AND DELBERT MCCLINTOCK ...... bravo todd!!!
