I don't trust the Pharmaceutical companies, never will. They block research for cures for diseases because it is more profitable (for them) to treat diseases.

Do my kids have all their vaccinations? Yes. Do I have all of my childhood vaccinations? Yes. But I refuse a vaccination that is being pushed onto the public because of deliberately FALSE information.

She didn't even mention GMP. She just said that under BSL-3 protocols this kind of mistake could't have legitimately been made. This is not even an argument about Baxter's competence she is making. I really like this woman, but she doesn't understand the fundamentals of pharmaceutical manufacture that she is discussing. Also, she is not a virologist, and has a sketchy appreciation for the molecular biology that she is discussing. I would make similar mistakes in my critiques of internal med.

BSL-3 is not the highest biosecurity level, but it is probably the level that Baxter uses when working with influenza. The issue, however, is GMP and ISO protocols, not BSL. I disagree that either the Baxter mistake or the WHO redefinition indicates a conspiracy. I agree, though, with the potential threat from recombination in the Baxter vaccine.

Once again, I think she is really cool, and her points are worth discussing. GMP is just an oversight and auditing protocol for a production process that involves documenting each step in the manufacture of each input into the production process. Anyone who has ever worked in a market sector with significant gov't oversight knows that dodging oversight is an international sport. Think about how you feel about your taxes, that's how manufacturers feel about GMP.

BSL3, which she mentioned, is totally different though. BSL protocols are to ensure the safety of the researcher or manufacturer themselves, and are followed much more stringently by people who want to live and stuff. If some Baxter technician grabbed the wrong tube one day, inoculated chicken eggs, and recorded in triplicate that the eggs had been infected with the vaccine strain instead of infectious virus, that's all it would take to disrupt the process.

Since Baxter didn't check it's individual vaccine lots for toxicity, it was very likely that this would get out of the plant and onto shelves. Instead of claiming conspiracy where it didn't serve Baxter's interest in any clear manner, it is more reasonable to congratulate the thorough safety checking by the European public health authorities that caught the mistake. This should hurt Baxter's bottom line, not because they tried to kill us all, but because they are incompetent manufacturers.

The amount of vaccine that bore contamination is really not an issue. That is because influenza virus is self-replicating. So if the initial lot of virus-infected cells used to produce the 72kg of vaccine contained some attenuated vaccine strain influenza and some virulent H5N1, then the 72kg of production material will contain a similar ratio. If a tiny mistake was made at the beginning, it will propagate throughout the process.

That's true. 60% of 600 = 360 people. 250 out of 600 = 42% (roughly). Still a high mortality rate for infection.
