I disagree that Tyson was out of his prime in that fight. He was as dangerous as always. I also disagree with the commentator in round 11 "...Mike Tyson is a warrior too" Tyson couldn't battle at eye level like Holyfield. Tyson was a perfect peek-a-boo boxer but far to spoiled by success. He was accustomed to roll over his opponents and as Buster Douglas and Holyfield didn't collapsed under his pressure he lost.

The only thing Tyson had in his arsenal was the left hook which he telegraphed horribly, that and having NO head or body movement other than straight ahead made it easy for Holyfield to take him apart with his rough and dirty boxing. All he had to do was use his head to discourage Tyson from jumping in with the hook and wait for the right moment...the was a mental beating way before it was a physical.

I was watching this when I was about 11 and even at that age I could tell with that cheap shot by Tyson...you could just tell that he looked like his days were numbered in that fight. He was getting frustrated and was being worn down and then he was ripe for the picking by Evander.
I totally agree with godisfinger below. Tyson just couldn't recover his career when he got beaten by Douglas. On the other hand, guys like Lewis and Holyfield continued their legacy even with their defeats.

@Shulcyo watching douglas and holy vs tyson,you can see how they broke his rhythm first before tyson could launch his attack.This was because tyson no longer jad the defensive first posture which allowed him to "slip" the shots that hly and douglas landed when they beat him.Once you can stop the rhythm and "step in" on his lunges,that was the strategy to beat tyson but in 87-88,fighters couldnt get off first because tyson slipped their attack brilliantly.

Tyson fans say hes the greatest, but they're talking about the ferocity and incredible ability he had in his youth, I seen Ali, foreman and frazier videos and none really look as good and efficient as he looked through 86-90. On the other hand critics are right too, tyson was the kind of guy that always needed the correct guidance, without it he wasn't a huge champ. Take a closer look at this fight, after being headbutted he start to get confused and that cost him the fight
