  • there's a pretty big contrast between the mood of the Spin Doctors and another 90's band Nirvana

  • How can you not like this?

  • that's paul shaffer doing the high harmony vocals, he's an amazing musician

  • Pity their pocket ran out of Kryptonite.

  • how can six people not like this it's phenomenal

  • Comment removed

  • WHat an AWESOME band!

  • Really awesome live sound!!! The singer really impresses me, more than I thought he would, truthfully.

  • Paul Schaffer singing backup vocals! Awesome.

  • Letterman always had the gayest house band

  • The singer is the biggest hippie ive ever seen

  • I just saw these guys last week in Sackets Harbor NY and they kicked ass !!! They are tighter than ever ! Chris' voice sounded great and Eric's guitar playing was rippin', backed by Aaron and Mark, the shit was solid.

  • all org players are there,.,lettermans band is jus jamm`n along side.

  • That guitarist had ass kicking tone and rhythm, well crafted solos.

  • I love this song. Makes me think of my bitch of a mother.

  • @Stevietyler1998 That's not nice of you to say! Shall we say, it's your age?

  • Did they really need 2 drummers? Still rules though...

  • these guys just had fun playing music. awesome stuff

  • Damn, Paul had the backing vocals nailed!!

  • @dharmaseed Paul's hair too! Fantastic to see that again! hahaha

  • Oh My God!! I cant believe I found this.... I saw this LIVE on Letterman!!! Take me back man... take me back!!

  • So refreshing to hear music that hasn't been autotuned. I remember sneaking downstairs to watch this music vid on MTV (back when they actually played music videos).

  • Mark white is a great bassist...

  • you can't hear them, though. Spin Doctors are a JamBand so inviting people to join em on stage ain't that far out of what they are.

  • did the show's house band usually play along with the musical guests back then? the drummer, bass player, and paul schaffer are all playing for the whole song. i can't remember ever seeing that before. i wonder if they always did or if the spin doctors were just so cool they asked them to do it. that's awesome either way

  • Such a fun(ky) band. The guitarist E.S., is awesome, but it always amazes me when someone can play an instrument sooooo fucking funky & groovin' but can't dance worth a fuck. I just can't wrap my brain around that. I think, "Would I rather be able to dance to a great jam like this, or play guitar like Eric." God-damn, but it seems like a sick joke to be so primo on the guitar and move like shit. I'd take the dancing, but.......... thx 4 the post

  • @glenneveaux haha i'm one seriously funky drummer but i cant dance for shit either :)

  • 0:59 - 1:16 FLAWLESS

  • The 2 people who disliked this must be little miss can't be wrongs!

  • the white bass player looks like tom petty

  • Just a great song and performance. Cant believe this was 18 yrs ago

  • Like, WOW!

  • brilliant also love their "why could you want him" also off the same album....

  • im shocked they didnt edit bitch for tv

  • Wow fantastic live performance!!!!! I'm just glad im not epileptic, watching the video....

  • Great name for a band!

  • they're amongst the better bands from the 90's

  • I love when its clear that a band is having so much fun.. its feels so much more real and genuine.

  • Sping Doctors are great! And Paul Shaffer did a great job on the harmony!

  • Talented group! The guitar player has great style.

  • Even better than the house band playing with Eddie Van Halen...which is definitely worth a listen..liked them both

  • wow, i would have never thought this song was from that early in the 90's. This is practically an 80s song.

  • I've never seen Paul Shaffer so excited before! This version of the song is awesome, loved it!

  • Spin Doctors played the free Friday night concert at Santa Cruz, CA. tonight (8/13) and totally rocked! Very tight set, never sounded better! Wish I could have stayed for the second show!

  • Two Drummers=epicness.

  • @SlitMouthWoman yea but i dont quite understand why.

  • @jamesfromwagstaffe In case one drummer misses a note, the other can cover his mistake.

  • How I met Your Mother brought me here.

  • One of the few '90s bands whose sound really holds up.

  • They just look like they're having waaaay to much fun playing. :o)

  • i was born in 1990 so obviously too young to remember this or know what it was but i wish music was still like this today. It sucks that the "most popular" music of my time is dance club music with fake beats and audio enhanced voices. Bring back 90's rock!!!!!!!!!

  • anybody know who is playing drums here, he looks like Buzz Morrow, who I went to high school with, but he was not a band member that I know of...

  • omg this group is freaken awesome i can't believe i went this long without knowing their name. heard the song a million times tho and each time never gets old, i can listen to this song another million times

  • It's nice to hear somebody singing backup on this song for a change. They have backup vocals on 'What Time Is It' live, but nobody ever backs up Chris when he sings 'Little Miss' live. Wonder why that is? It's a bit thin sounding with just one vocal.

  • the bass player is Letterman's band bass player

  • The drummer has Zappa qualities...

  • Two drummers, two bassists, two guitarrists and a guy on the hammond? Who are these other guys?

  • FUN FUN FUN! another example of how great 90s music was.

  • The best one on this band by far is the guitar player, no wonder why he left the band.

  • my right ear likes it, the left one wants more

  • You know I liked this group way back when they came out. The funny thing is the lyrics are not that great but it does make you feel happy watching this guy have fun doing his thing.

  • this is veryveryvery good song.make me happy!

  • Spin Doctors rocked! Only problem with that video's that the left audio channel is off.

  • @80286 I taped this off tv in 1992...so the vhs tape held the test of time..

  • @Musicphreak35 Absolutely it did, thumbs up for the tune. Rare piece to find.

  • @80286 Works fine with me...

  • @80286 I'm glad you heard that too - I thought my left ear was stuffed up!

  • @80286 Oh the joys of a surround sound system. I have it set to "music mode" most of the time, which merges all channels and then splits the sounds up bases on the the frquency :D I didn't even know a channel was off....

  • dunno lol, just reminds of the song sweet home alabama - not sure why!

  • no worrys son thay are a good band lol

  • aha they are man - love this song!

  • @beng1lh00ly check this out ............ black crows with sterophoics and jool... twice as hard ................ class

  • this song reminds me of sweet home alabama - awesome!

  • One of the best jam bands of all time!

  • My do I miss this band. D:

  • Right you are Matey!

  • I remember seeing this when it aired in 92. Seventeen years ago! time is a very scary thing. Seems like yesterday.

  • Love this version - without the f ' ing ads

  • this is not the original bass player

    why is that?

  • this is the orginal bass player, what are you talking about?

  • oh yeah he's there in the back, the blonde guy in front of him with the bass guitar got me confiused

  • @Musicphreak35

There are two bass players at the same time, one slapping and the other playing half notes. You can see them both at 0:32

  • @Musicphreak35 theres 2

  • @Musicphreak35 The confusion lies in the Spin Doctors playing with the Late Night band. Two guitars, two basses, two drummers..

  • @YuvalL there are two bass players there man ! i thought that too at the start !

  • it's the original bassist ( the black dude) and that's the incredible will lee on bass for the letterman show.... guy's a legend

  • @YuvalL It in fact is the original bassist. The original lineup remained together (from the band's inception) until 1994. And had since gotten back together in 2001.

  • @YuvalL I initially thought this too, but Spin Doctors are playing with a full house-band lineup, so you think the blonde haired bassist is the only one playing but the real bassist is hidden behind him!

  • @YuvalL There are two bass players in this... Mark White of the Spin Doctors, and Will Lee of Late Night With David Letterman and various other ports of fame.

  • @YuvalL there's two

  • @YuvalL Yes it is Mark White..I met him in Westchester Bash in Ohio

  • @YuvalL standing right behind the other bass guy =)

  • @YuvalL

that blond man is Paul Schaffer's Band bass player

  • @aloisKahan Will Lee

  • fantastic!

  • they sound great live!

  • this is good but the best version is from SNL

  • GOD AREN'T THEY FANTABULOUS!

  • I saw these cats about a year ago. I didn't know what to expect as I thought they might just go through the motions and potentially be washed up. Their first song of the night was 'what time is it' & they rocked- awesome live, very tight and put on a show and a half. I hope they start touring again- I will see them in a second.

  • I heard some cover band play this song the other day; it was the first time I'd heard the song since I was real young, and I'd never realized that it's actually pretty sick. Were the Spin Doctors actually good... like did they have other songs (other than Two Princes)?

That guy kills it on the solo here.

  • Yeah, they're actually a very genuine and funky band with Hendrix influences and pop sensibilities. They kind of slipped out of the limelight after their debut Pocket Full of Kryptonite (with Two Princes), but their live album Homebelly Groove (1992) and their second studio album Turn It Upside Down (1994) are very solid and much in the same style. Highly recommended if you like this kind of stuff. After those, the group slowly fell apart, but I heard they've reunited recently.

  • love this track. Reminds me of happier times :)

  • great lol!!!!....i love his happiness!!

  • no doubt. talk about somebody just having fun.. chris barron is the man

  • SOLO IS THE BEST

    HARD ASS SOLO

  • This is with out a doubt their best track, it kiks ass, we cover this in the band I used to play in, it used to go down sooo well.

    keep rockin !!!!!

  • I gave her a tee shirt that said," You could argue with me, but you would be wrong !"

  • Yes ! Also my daughter Libby. This was indeed her song when she lived with me.

  • Reminds me of crazy old know it all venniey!!!

  • awesome
