@Anthony106Smith They used the Sky realm just like the Nether realm already in the game but not yet implemented by Notch. They also used a mod to access that realm on their server and copy pasted that island from that Sky realm seed to their normal world using MCedit. Watch the earlier episodes they'll show it to you and the problems they had with it too.
