very kool! I was reading over the comments to see if there was anything else I would need to get a rig like this setup. mainly the laser section of it the rest is pretty simple. is a capacitor required or would 112mA - 105mA of power be sufficient? Hope you're still checking back on this.
You ought to set it to shut off the laser instead of raising the head. You don't really need to raise the head. Of course it depends on the software you are using. It's pretty easy with EMC2, dunno about others.
The incaccurate comes from my hand... I´m turning on / off the laser... when the CNC stops in a point, the laser should be off, and I (all we) have a delay to see it. so... :p tnks to watch!
oh! voce deveria fazer um tutorial ou alguma coisa. Ja faz anos que estou interesado em fazer um CNC e gostaria muito de saber mais sobre seu projeto.
How visible is the 780nm laser from a cd burner? Is it like a dim red? Cuz i've got 660nm(red) and 808nm(near ir) but i'm not sure where exactly on the specturm it is that it starts getting difficult to see.
Did u use any kind of optics? Lens...
XantheFIN 1 year ago
@XantheFIN sure! I used the lens used to focus in cd/dvd. simple and eficient.
Fredasp 1 year ago
@Fredasp Ok thanks. I though do i save and use those lens which i still have. :)

very good job, how do I make one? you can teach me? you can send a Leap or something?
Thanks from Uruguay

Looks great!
Use the spindle on/off m-codes and an output from the cnc to turn the laser on and off. That way you can control the laser right in the part program.

is this burning into plastic or metal?
MasterCollingwood 3 years ago
It´s burning/melting plastic. =]
Fredasp 3 years ago
@MasterCollingwood cutting metal with a laser is alot more violent theres sparks and all that fun stuff

Why it is inaccurate?, i mean, at the end it always moves a bit...

hi these pages what u send to me are closed or what ever but can you say what uf capacitor i have to use is it 16v 470uf capacitor?
UMFhardy7rule 3 years ago
Yes. u can use that. But they aren´t really necessary. Take care to don´t put the laser with the capacitor loaded!

please can you help me again i have lm317 and dvd burner laser what i do next please say!!!

It's very very cool! What's the waveleight of the diode?

Very, very cool.

Thank you!
Yes, i´ts like a very dim red. Take care. It´s very strong as you saw in this video. Use safety goggles.

Hello! you did a great job,can you reduce power on laser to cut at less depth?
rbcameron 3 years ago
Yes. I put 130 mA. If I put less current, it will be less powerfull and engrave less deep. I turn on/off manualy for while.
Fredasp 3 years ago
Very impressive! What did you use for the stepper motors and CNC pgm??
pcbman1st 4 years ago
I used the KCAM from kellyware dot com
it´s simple but do the service.
tnks!

Oia que coisa linda!! para ficar melhor ainda, so tinha que controlar o laser para nao fazer os buraquinhos no final..
albertronicc 4 years ago
Nem precisa o eixo Z atuar. Depois vou fazer o controle pra ligar e desligar o laser... tava fazendo isso na mão grande mesmo :p por isso os erros.
Valeu!
