Surprisingly, they have returned the bone flap. Most of these types of cases, the bone flap cannot be returned. Because of severe brain edema. I wonder if any other adjuncts for treatment of ICP was done such as hypothermia and hypertonic saline or even phenobarbital coma.
@KrautGoesWild Well the thrombosis induced is a local one and most of the time a superficial one, this is to address the pial bleeders that penetrate the outer surface of the brain which is called the cortex. as for stroke, not likely because the mechanism of stroke is more on blocking a major arterial territory (i.e. ACA,MCA etc.). not like this one.
wow that clot was huge

@TripleDoubleFine And how are you doing today? Any side effects? How much time did you spend in hospital? I hope that you are allright now.

You want thrombosis because you want the bleeding to stop. Of course the worry is an embolism but that is a different story.

That's not a gauze, that oxidized cellulose or surgicel. It's used for hemostasis by promoting thrombosis. Gelfoam can be used as well
joenavarro 1 year ago
@joenavarro But wouldn´t creating a thrombosis in the brain be a risky thing to do?
Or does this dissolve over time, once the bleeding has stopped?
Okay, I am no doctor but since my father´s stroke back in late 2002 I am greatly interested in this topic.
