This has been going on for a while. Lobbying is by definition the purchasing of votes. This process of lobbying is deeply embedded into our political process and is perfectly legal. We just don't realize it as a nation. There are several web sites that detail the money spent on campaigns in relation to the passing of legislation.

For all intensive purposes, lobbying and lobbyist are the core problem with our political process.
