My pigeon does this when she lays an infertile egg. Ive tried breeding her with her brown ringneck dove husband. The last time I did it the egg was 9 days in and they accidentally stepped on it when I passed by. They love me when there are no eggs.
@pigeonpal2002 Cool! That is what I thought; I just wanted to check. :) She is cute! I am glad you two have a friendship and that you take care of her. Give her a hug and pet for me. :)
Fancy and beautiful looking pigeon, I'm guessing she isn't a wild breed.
I'd hate to be staying at your place and stumble barefoot into the bathroom in the middle of the night while she is nesting, I bet that would be a painful experience!
Hello there....nope, they are not good flyers but it really depends on the weight of the pigeons. Most are quite heavy though so very poor flyers. If you are interested in discussing these things, please check out our pigeon forum. The address is found on my home page. :)
Hi, It's mostly just to prevent births you don't want and also to help stop them from breeding too much if you do allow them to breed. If you just take their real eggs away and don't replace them, the birds will simply lay more eggs fairly soon.
Hi there...thanks. :) I don't breed these birds and the eggs are dummies. I give them a few twigs to play with and carry to the nest but otherwise no real nest is needed for them.
you should at least give her a chance to have fun. she looks very healthy and she wants a nest. you should give her a nest even if the eggs are dummy.
What nest?
All she did was lay eggs on wood.
Epic parenting nonetheless

Are runts good flyers? Do they need a lot of exercise to stay healthy? I'm just wondering how their size affects them.

where's the father??
pongmoua1 3 years ago
He was there in the room, in the background. He's more skittish and shy but the mother pigeon is hand tamed and not afraid of me at all. :-)
pigeonpal2002 3 years ago
Very unusual looking, but pretty pigeon. Not putting a lot into chasing you though.
Rallow 3 years ago
Hi Rallow, thanks, she's hand tame so she's not quite as "mean" as she might otherwise be.:-)
