@rafafrias. Who doesn't put their child first? Its a law of nature. If you had the opportunity to send your child to an excellent school, with a high chance of getting into a good college, would you?
Rick Snyder is doing what any parent would do. He is allow his child to get the best education he can afford. Isn't that what you would do? Greenhills is not to fault for having one it's parents in political office, in fact his daughter was there long before he even ran for office. Don't judge what you don't know.
Last I checked, Governor Snyder cut his pay to $1 a year. Haters gonna hate when their bitter resentment clouds their judgement to make rational comments on youtube videos!
Please stop making assumptions. For example, "If you're wealthy, you get a good education, if you're not, you don't."
1. The comma use in that makes me want to cry.
2. That's not true. There are plenty of people at Greenhills that are on financial aid. Also, some parents give up the luxury of having a bigger house or a new car in order to pay for their child's education. You're sitting at home complaining instead of doing just that. Think before you type, please.
How can it cost $20,000.00 per student to go to Greenhills and so much less for the rest of the students in the state of Michigan. Rick Snyder, I think your daughter should HAVE to go to the public schools and then maybe you would appreciate what we're up against. I got really angry when I watched this video. If you're wealthy, you get a good education, if you're not, you don't. VERY SAD!
Governor Snyder should be ashamed! He puts his child first by sending his child to a school that spends "on average $20,000 to educate his child" but cuts the funding to public education for the peoples children who voted for him. All schools are equal right? Held to the same standards? Send your child to the public schools to receive equal amount of funding and opportunities then...
I like how in the video a teacher states (about the school itself): "It gives us zest to work with kids who have FULL support at home and who are eager to learn." Well DUH!! Of course it's nice teaching kids who have support at home....come try to teach in a public school where many students have LIMITED or NO support at home!!!! But yet our government doesn't even think about that aspect...
I just love when the children say I love Greenhill because it's small with small class sizes. Well, guess what the people in Lansing don't think this matters in the puplic schools. A representative in Lansing said "Class size doesn't matter after third grade" You can guess on your own what party he belongs to.
Spend less on prisoners and more on public education. Give the prisoners lettuce and water. Stop letting them get an education behind bars. Make them do work like they do in other countries. Get rid of charter schools that cost taxpayers money. Stop begging for money to fund private schools. FULLY FUND THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS!
I agree with the comments in the video - class size, programs, heat, etc...Can u share that info with our current governor about public education as well. We value class size, programs, heat just as much as u do.
@flynnsinn I'm honestly just wondering what you're trying to say here. It's kind of incoherent. What I AM getting out of it, though, is that you don't understand the value of having small classes. If you went to Greenhills or had a child at Greenhills, you would understand that small classes make for a less distracting environment. That means it is easier for us to pay attention and do well in class. It also gives us a better chance of having questions answered. Smaller > Bigger.
The school that Gov Rick Snyder (MI) entrusts his children to can"t seem to pay their electric bill on $20,000 per student, but Snyder wants to cut public school funding that currently gets by on less than half that. Perhaps they need to take a less from public schools.
20k to educate a student? i DOUBT thats how much you NEED... and who gives 10k after already paying tuition? i seriously wonder that. my school... is back down to 7k a student...
Wait.. it costs $20,000 to educate a child at Greenhills, but Gov Snyder thinks it's ok to cut funding to public schools to a fraction of that? Guess education really is a privilege...
Wow, sounds like a WELL FUNDED private school. My question would be, why does our governor need to be so elitist and tell the public school kids and their parents that they don't deserve a well funded opportunity? Only the wealthy should benefit?
Must be nice having the extra funds to send your children to a private school Mr. Snyder. There are many families in Michigan who rely on the schools to give their children two meals 5 days a week, and a safe place for a small amount of time. And this video states the cost to give your children a quality education, yet you cut funds for others to provide an education for their children. Why don't you send your children to public schools? Because there isn't enough $ for a quality education.
How nice indeed that these students have small class sizes and lots of opportunities at their little private school. This is the same school that apparently Mich. governor sends his daughter to. Can't get along on ONLY $20,000 per student per yr?. I teach at a small public school and we are being forced to make do with just under $7,000 per student per yr, facing cutbacks in music, art, & more. Sorry...not feeling their pain. Mich. spends more than 30K p/yr on prisoners. That's way wrong.

By the way, bringing Rick Snyder's daughter into that is just unnecessary. She's a nice lady!
