@stbays These fujitsus have not a chance of running WoW even on XP with everything as low as you can set them. The GMA 500 will give you probably 10 fps.
The only real UMPCs that will handle WoW and other games on minimum are the ones like the Sony VGN UX and Samsung Q1U series; they have the GMA 950 that will get over 20fps. Yeah not for gaming, although I wish I could use one of these while sitting in a doctor's office:(.
Well darn. I'm gonna be in the hospital 3 times this year and I was really hoping to have something to take with me and keep up with my WoW guild. Guess I'll have to save up and get something else. Oh well.
Hey there. I wanted to let you know I got my Lifebook in and I was able to adjust the settings enough to get WoW to run. It's probably about 10 fps or so like you said, but it's enough for some decent soloing or checking the auction house and even just chatting with my online friends.
Still, I plan to get a full laptop to go along with the Lifebook.
@stbays Well, looks like you're not picky for fps eaither, yeah 10 works :D. I plan on getting a sony UX made with a core 2 duo just for these situations. And chances are, with a newer netbook still for only around $250 WoW will work on lowish!
@demon69120 I found an interesting video of WoW supposedly running on an U810 and it looks like it's running possibly 15 to 20 fps or more. I was wondering if you think this is real though.
Supposedly the U810 uses the Intel GMA 950 on the 945 chipset which is lousy, but not nearly as lousy as the GMA 500 being used instead today. It also uses the 800 MHz Steely with is what we find in the original Samsung Q1's. Pretty much, the hardware is equivalent to the Q1s which might run WoW pretty fluently, so it's possible. They come with Vista though, so your best bet would to downgrade to XP with 3rd party drivers. Also, the GMA 950 can use modded drivers making it much better.Check ebay
@demon69120 Interesting. I find it funny cause I thought the U820 was an upgrade over the U810. I'm definately going to have to hunt down the specs now.
i actually think this is pretty awesome that they are finally realeaseing this tech to the public ... especially with the newest features (fingerprint id tablet) although i think that the tablet part makes the bulkiness of the laptop. i would like to see something like this run win7 or a linux version. throw in an extended battery and your good ... im sorry but anyone who intends on using vista on this is pretty much retarded ....
Using the updated drivers and my own slip streamed XP Tablet edition I've gotten everything working properly except the lights (which really don't do much in the first place). My only gripe is the one you have found that I cannot figure out how to get the 3G to work again after standby(Device not detected error). If only there was a device power-management tab for the sierra wireless HSDPA modem. I have to restart the computer fully to get 3G back.
BTW, concerning the screen rotation problem and the touchscreen not following. Did you install an ordinary XP or a TabletPC Edition? I remember installing an ordinary XP on my old tablet, and I had somewhat similar problems, none of which occurred with Windows XP TabletPC Edition. Not sure if that's the case here, just a suspicion...

Speaking of WoW, you have any idea how well this runs it? Will I have to put XP on it to get it to run or will it be ok with Vista?

how accurate is the touch screen using the tablet? I am interested in this device for taking notes using Microsoft OneNote software.
My worry is that while they resolution might be sharp, the response might be lacking for the stylus...

Nice review, I really hate manufacturers putting Vista on a tablet / netbook.
It's so useless to put an (even stripped) OS which is meant for uber-Nasa computers on something the size of that...
