  • holy poo it's like a white grandpa version of uehara futoshi, rock on!

  • You're a true skill on the bass,Vince!

  • ATTENTION.... THIS GUY PWNS!

  • thats my granda!

  • whats the difference between fender jass basses and fender precision basses

  • @RalphAndSport Precisions have a body style very similar to a stratocaster, Jazz basses have a more curvy body style. Precisions have 1 single coil pickup, Jazz basses have 2 split coil pickups. Precisions have a punchy, heavier tone, Jazz basses have a warmer, brighter tone. Also, Jazz basses have a thinner neck than Precisions. In my opinion, Precisions are great for any kind of rock, whether it be classic rock or death metal, and Jazz basses are great for, well, anything else XP

  • @RalphAndSport

jazz bass= two pickups and a slimmer neck different body shape too

preciosion bass= one split coil pickup and a thicker neck

  • That was really good. Nice job!

  • That was really good. Nice job!

  • is this a highway one?

  • @nondescriptman No, highway 1s have a little american highway sign on the pickguard (like the route 66 one). This is just a standard fender '08

  • @TheMartini1234 that's only a sticker but you're right. Highway one'S don't even come in white. .. my mistake.

  • @nondescriptman lol yeah... the sticker was MY mistake...

  • Groove on man!

  • I have yet to find one bass playing video on here where someone isn't slappin' the shit out of the damn thing. I guess traditional finger style bass playing is out of style.

  • JEaaaaah!!

    Love the fender sound!

  • you rock !!!!!!

  • hoping to get this exact bass next month, looks and sounds great, im not good enough yet to justify buying it but what the hell :p

  • @gixer121121, Oh I'm sure your good enough and your going to enjoy this bass something fierce. I've been playing this bass as my main stick for the last 2 yrs and it's def been worth every minute I've owned it. Vince

  • @gixer121121 you should be playing with the Peppers man!!!

  • Impressive sound ! What strings do you use ? The fifth one sounds so well !

  • Comment removed

  • rock on grandpa!

  • Is that a black pick guard you have one there? Looks good and sounds even better nice playing

  • Nope, it's a tort pickguard, thanks anyway.

  • It doesn't seem that long ago when I was in my 20's playing for RCA records in front of 20,000 rocking fans a night. No, truthfully that's what I used to do. I'm now 55 and play better than I ever have. Thanks for the comments.

  • You awesome.

  • I wish you were my grandpa :(

  • Nice work, i hope some of these young guys that think they're "Hot stuff" check out how it's done, you'd show 'em up any day.

  • nice groove

  • Thanks, I was just having a little fun.

  • Damn your good!

  • hey, do the fender jazz string mia's and mim's have active or passive pups? any1 ?

  • Fender American Standard's are all passive pups and passive electronics.

  • Réu ié!!!!!

    Uncle!!

  • Ah,ah,ah....

  • he looks like Ben Stein at first glance

  • ...gr8888! groovy B! nice...

  • nice video

  • nice tone.

  • hey.. i got the same same bass..

my band recently bought me a SWR working man amp.. is supposed to be 400 watts .. but is not even close.. I was thinking of buying ampeg.. or gk.. what do u recomend?...

  • berhinger (sorry if thats spelled wrong) or peavey ;] just my opinion

  • Line 6 is always good ;)

And if you don't want to spend a lot of money you have some great Laney amps

  • Umm not sure what these guys are thinking... but where I come from, behringer and line 6 do not even come close to Gallien Krueger, let alone Ampeg.

If you really are thinking of getting ampeg gear, go for it. You can't really go wrong with ampeg.

Line 6 is good with fx and stuff, but I haven't heard too many spectacular thoughts about their amps. Behringer is towards the lower end of budget amplification.

  • Be careful about buying a new ampeg, they make them overseas now and the quality has really slipped.

  • gk is very versitile

  • The amp I'm playing thru in the video is a Carvin SBR1018 stack. I've since moved on to a Carvin BX500 w/Carvin BRX10.4 neo cab. I love it's sound, solid, punchy, crisp and deep with low end; a real unsung hero of a cabinet if you ask me.

  • makinaaaa!!!!!!!!

  • smutne te klepanie huja!

  • you got skills. Nothin better that i like to listen to than a freakin amazing bass player. keep it up!

  • Thanks, I'm just being me with the bass.

  • what song was that?

    im trying to remember.

its buggin the hell outta me haha

  • That's an old Sly And The Family Stone song called Thankyou Falettnme Bemyself Again, or at least I think that's the name. My band just calls it Thank You. Larry Graham was the bass player for Sly and he's who came up with that bassline - all time epic.

  • nice im gonna get me one of those this wekend!

  • awsome

  • WOW!! You're super cool and talented. Way to go!!

  • Awesome!

  • I use Carvin stuff because of it's bang for the buck. Their new bass cabs come with neo speakers now, and they are very reasonably priced you should check em out. Plus, Carvin has a 10 trial period, if you don't like it they'll take it back no questions asked.

  • How do you get that sound out of your jazz i also have a Jazz V and mine sounds like poop...I'm not too worried cos i prefer my MM stingray but any help would be nice

  • Basically I run the mids flat at 12 o clock the bass and treble at 2 o'clock, the drive at 10 am, compression at about 9:30 am and that's about it. Plus the cab I'm using is a Carvin BRX10.4 Neo it's not in the vid, but it rocks to. Hope that helps.

  • Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Yeah ive tried that and the sound is alot better but still not what i'd find Fender worthy. But i'm only running it through a Ashdown electric blue amp and am planning on getting a cab soon, hopefully it'll sound alot better. Any ideas on a good but reasonably cheap cab?

  • you rock man!

  • that was cool.. i just got the same one u have.. its amazing the difference coming from a Ivanez sr905... this bass is for life.. now i just need an amp for live as well.. i cant spend any more money.. check out my bands video KAYAKMAn (kiss me now)

  • Very nice. I'm pining for this exact bass in black with a maple board.

  • They are killer basses, I don't see myself buying another bass for a long, long time. This Jazz blends in so well in all 3 bands that I play with. Let me know what you think of it when you finally get it.

  • Hey im lookin hard for a good jazz...i play stingrays and spector euros through an ampeg avt 3 pro and and the ampeg classic 4x10...you bein a j bass guy do you suggest the old 70's or the new american standard...i love the new standard but i can't get those vintage 70's punch outta my head....and what strings do you use?

  • Go with the new American Standard Jazz, you won't be disappointed. Tons of punch, thick awesome sound. As fas as strings, I use Fender Super Bass 8250's, they last a long time and sound pretty decent.

  • Here is a hint! both of your Basses have a active preamp on board, nothing wrong with that because you sometimes need the tone control. Plug in a passive system and change the e.q. on your bass rig, you won't be that disappointed. I enjoy my American made fender Jazz with a maple neck, it has lots of punch and growl for a four string.

  • I like your Carvin rig behind you. I can hear its a good one. I have the old Kustom Groove 1200 (first production run).

  • I"ve since moved on over to a Carvin BX500 head thru a Carvin BRX10.4 Neo cab, it sounds awesome. Fills any room that I've played so far, large and small. Personally, I think the BX500 sounds better than my BX1200, seriously.

  • wa o nò si o mostr xD

i like it very nice ^^

  • im gettin a fender jazz soon, at the moment im playing a fender persision, but it just dosent do the job when it comes to slap bass

  • good call, p basses arent ment for slapping, get a ernie ball sting ray if ya can afford one!

  • I'll stick to a Jazz bass, lol

    *I personally hate EB*

  • i love that bass im getting my fender standard jazz in a few days i wish i could play slap bass i suck at it

  • The Jazz Bass gets one of the most powerful slap tones out there, keep working on it - you'll get there. Good Luck, Vinnie

  • I LOVE this bass and playing, but look for a new way to record! You're on Talkbass, aren't you? I am too. Love that site!

  • I know what you mean, I tried to record with a web cam, but it didn't work out. The recording I did here was done with a Kodak Easyshare camera in video mode. I've got Cubase LE 4 program in my computer that once I figure out how to use it, I'm going to do some new recordings.

Anywaze, yes it's a great bass and yes I'm on TB.

  • very well played sir! But dont forget to relax your shoulders and back, in fact your entire stance while playing your instrument. This helps to prevent pain while playing and afterwards.

  • you go grandpa

  • Nice playing but IMHO it sounds more precision, than jazz. Do you play at neck pickup only or almost only?

  • No, actually I play with both pups all the way up. I'll be honest with you, though, I don't like the bridge pup on the Jazz at all, but with the neck pup together it sounds fine.

  • sweet action

  • That's some sickeningly nice playing dude, nice job!

  • Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Jazz does sound nice doesn't it?

  • Yeah! I love the versatility of it as well. I don't think the Jazz has ever really been beaten by any bass.

  • I've played MM, Ric, Steinberger, off-shore Fenders, Ibanez, Yamaha, Carvin and the '08'MIA Jazz Bass is the best sounding bass I've ever played on, plus it's passive, that's what's so cool about it.

  • allright cool! i have the very same one... same colour and all, five string too! i love the bass, the sound and feel of it, just an incredible bass! mine was perfect when i got it! im happy with it!

  • I think of all the color combo's, the Oly White w/Rosewood FB is the classiest look.

  • yeah, that why i picked it, the nicest colour, the pickguard is so cool aswell!

hey what amp u using there in the video??

i use a Fender Bassman 250 2x10 and a Bassman 115 cabinet! I am Going to buy and ampeg 410 HLF Classic cab next! love ampeg

  • The amp is a Carvin SBR1018. I've had it for 2 years and it's been outstanding, not a single problem. It's more than enough amp that I will ever use for any gig I do. Most of the time I use just the 4x10 cab w/head for indoor gigs, for outdoor that's when I use the 4x10 and 1-18 cabs w/head. The head is 1200w @ 4 ohms bridged. It's pretty killer sounding, too.

  • ah right, very nice, yeah have plenty of power then with that head!

  • Have a look under your scratch plate, hope it doen't have exposed wiring a hugh ditch routed out for the wiring and a hole like my American made Fender corona California standard jazz bass, hope your weren't ripped off like me?

  • Why would I even care about that, the bass plays and sounds great. I have swapped out the pups for Bartolin 57J1's, but the Barts were too midrange growl for my taste. I seemed to lost alot of the deep low end with the Barts, so I went back to the American Standard pup; the Jazz sounds great.

  • Unlike me you don't expect the bass to be built to a hight standard then like you'd expect from Fender.

Mines a sunburt so I wanted the option of taking the scratch plate off.

  • finally i found someone to has a 08 amercican standard five string! how are u finding ur's? how did u find the action when ye got it?

  • First off, glad to be on your friends list. I'm loving my new jazz, swapped the pups out briefly, but am not back to the American Standard pups. When I got it the action was a little low and the neck needed adjusting. But what tone, this bass is the best sounding bass I've played in the last 25 years; great passive tone. Great for slapping and popping, so loud and clear. How are you liking your Jazz, is it a 5 string?

  • love the tone dude

i wanna get a 08 jazz bass so bad but for some reason whenever i decide to buy it i get unsure about whether i want that or a stingray, and i dont wanna regret my choice so it scares me out of buying anything. lol

  • Very very good!!!
