  • I'm having an EXTREMELY HARD TIME understanding how ANYONE currently living on this planet can NOT like this. I'm not talking shit...I just.....how the fuck....how can anyone NOT...fuckin....WHAT??

  • people, come on, don't argue! enjoy the song... it's simply amazing!!!

  • What?! Did someone say unoriginal? You fuckin fool! How many people have you heard lately, or in the last 10-15yrs for that matter, that sound anything like him and have managed to be a success? Go back to your Bruno Mars albums dickhead....

  • just beautiful

  • absolutely beautiful!

  • @robmatlivingstone you fail at life.

  • @robmatlivingstone Not being ironic or intimidating or anything, but I'm really curious to know why some people have so much against him. I mean, he's not the greatest god of music but I think he's got some solid songs with a fair amount of originality (like the overwhelming middle-eastern influence in his catalog), and I don't see how he should receive some Justin Beiber level of despise. So, yeah, I'd really like to understand it.

  • @robmatlivingstone

Obviously you have no freaking idea what the hell your talking about. Everyone has influences. The guy is an AMAZING guitar player and is one of the few people on the planet to have "perfect pitch". In todays music landscape, he is completely original! No one sounds like him right now. Maroon

  • @MisterSausage1 He'll never be taken seriously by musicians or the press because it's such a blatant Jim Morrison/ Zeppelin ripoff, always was.a tribute band at best. His lyrics are far too pretensious as is the music and the imagery. He's pompous. And 'perfect pitch'? What's perfect pitch if you only sing (sort of) in one low octave? Burton Cummings has perfect pictch, in 4 octaves. And 'amazing' Quite a word for a guy plunking on a guitar, is'nt it?

  • @robmatlivingstone

Morrison ripoff? because he looks like him? lol. People who don't know any better always throw out that comparison. As for Zepplin, yes he is heavily influenced by them. Like I said everyone who plays music has influences.

The guy can construct a solid song. And I will give you that some of his lyrics are pretentious but that doesn't take away from the fact that he is a great musician. He is far better than most of the clone rock bands of today

  • @robmatlivingstone Not sure that you understand the concept of perfect pitch.

"Perfect pitch, is the ability to name or reproduce a tone without reference to an external standard.

It shows some/all of these abilities: Identify by name individual pitches (e.g. A, B, C♯) played on various instruments, Name the key of a given piece of music just by listening, Identify and name all tones of a given chord, Accurately sing a given pitch with no reference, Name pitch of common noises, eg. car horn

  • @robmatlivingstone you efin idiot...

  • *sigh miss you tea party!

  • I've loved this song since he played it at a Kitchener, Ontario (Canada) show ~ 10 or so years ago, and even now it is one of my fav from Jeff/The Tea Party.

Thank you for sharing the acoustic version!

  • Is this the same Jeff Martin that was in IDAHO?

  • Beautiful song, What a voice.

  • Love this song! It's ridiculous how hard a time I'm having finding the album anywhere..*sigh* If I ever find it it'll be worth the long search and money though..what a fantastic band.

  • This was always one of my fav's from the album...I didn't know so many others felt the same...

  • "Ian Curtis was my Jim Morrison" - Jeff Martin.

Haven't seen that for a long time. Actually the Morrison angle's been gone a long time too. At least his Hurt cover is still great. I just wish he still had the musical ambition he once had, the kind that could come halfway to justifying statements like, "There's this type of music called rock music, and it includes only three bands: us, Tool, and Radiohead."

  • Why won't he come back to the US or Canada and perform this? Siiiigh.

  • LOVE this song, love the performance but...Jeff...second verse...dude. Been to well over two dozen tea party shows and they so rarely played this...there's a couple you just didn't see often, the entirety of A Certain Slant of Light they only played two or three times I saw, same with Babylon...shame, love those songs

  • Just got back from seeing Jeff Martin (Armada) in Australia absolutely F*^%$# brilliant, any body know what gits he plays.? or the tunings he uses? multiple I presume?

  • I can't find most of their songs...but finding THIS...made me happy as. Thanks heaps.

  • cant he be my new boyfriend!? swooooooon!

  • this is rly awesome.. do you have any more? :)

  • I just LOVE Jeff Martin. This is one of my favorite songs from Transmission. The Tea Party will always be my favorite band. :)

  • my fave song off transmission surprised it was never a single

  • It can never be a single. It's too good to be spammed on the radio. Those chords set off way too many emotions at once and the lyrics are so genuine and so meticulously intimate. You have to have been in certain states and transitions in your life in order to truly be in tune with what Jeff is trying to convey in this masterpiece. My absolute favorite tea party piece.

  • Amazing

  • one of the best live performers... he is so crisp and clear when singing and he keeps up with the guitar. Its hard to believe this is filmed with someones camcorder and still sounds amazing. Amazing talent and I can't wait to see him live again

  • Thank you very much for sharing. It's a great song and a great performance by JM.

  • his sound is just amazing

  • I'm not downplaying Stuart and Jeff Burrows talent at all.....but the main focus of the Tea Party was on Jeff Martin's powerful voice and extraordinarily good guitar skills. If you aren't impressed by his solo work, than fine....but I don't share your view on "Sub-Par"....sorry.

  • yea, except i dont care

  • *LOL* That's fine. I don't expect you to care....I was simply replying to one of your comments, and sharing my view. (This conversation obviously ends here, thank you very much *LOL*)

  • ..... does it matter?

  • if you dont like the tea party than piss off d bag pricks go listen to sum 41 or britany.

  • Where was this concert?

  • it says it right at the beginning of the video...lol

  • Be honest, Tea Party was always defined by Jeff's lyrics, voice and guitar. The rest could have been played by FILLERS.

  • Not true at all, and he's proving that now with his sub-par solo records.

  • Commercial success is not the same as personal success. He's not writing radio records anymore.

  • I didn't say anything about commercial success. What I'm saying is, his solo stuff isn't very good.

  • Actually, the record companies have ALL the say and provide all the exposure. I don't define Jeff's music as 'Tea Party and post Tea Party'....To me it is all incredible and very underrated.

  • Not sure what you're replying to... But Jeffs solo stuff is definitely sub-par compared to The Tea Party. Its still wonderful, but theres no denying its just not as good.

  • hmm :/ he is a great musician with or with out. The Tea Party as a whole is awesome still.

  • ya, jeff has a very distinctive and unique voice, and is a damn good songwriter.. and most people who hear the tea party would recognize his singing first. but stuart and jeff b are also incredibly talented, and i don't believe the tea party could have been all it was without them. sure, jeff can get 'fillers' to play the old songs, and it might not make much difference to some people listening, but it was jeff martin, jeff burrows and stuart chatwood who created the songs in the first place.

  • You're a moron.

  • Tea Party is the best period. Quit playing games, Jeff Martin

  • Jeff either make some new fucking music, or get back with the tea party, im sick of waiting!!!

  • He's got a new album coming out in a few weeks.

  • shit really, now i look like an ass:P

  • haha. Well, I agree, I wish they'd get back together... :( I miss the feeling I'd get in my chest when standing at front row center, and having Burrows' bass drums making my chest vibrate... god that felt good

  • I do miss the tea party a lot sometimes, they're pretty much irreplaceable. Martin's slightly more spare style is fuckin' excellent, but you know, sometimes I just want to get hit by that tidal wave of Tea Party sounds. They're more intoxicating.

  • well there still all alive so there's still hope. I mean I never thought Rage Against the Machine would be performing together hope they release something soon.

  • "I do miss the tea party a lot sometimes, they're pretty much irreplaceable. Martin's slightly more spare style is fuckin' excellent, but you know, sometimes I just want to get hit by that tidal wave of Tea Party sounds."

The last few albums, IMO, were too forced, and not as interesting as their earlier music.

It's as if, after Transmission, they stopped trying, and tried to be "mainstream," producing tracks like the other awful early-2000's music at the time - all heavy rock, no roll.

  • You're welcome. AD

  • "Go Sabres!" I kinda chuckled at that. I, too was in Buffalo when he was there, but I wasn't able to, sadly. This was at Thursday at the Square, right?

  • I've always loved the Tea Party, but it just pisses me off how Jeff always says in interviews that he left because there was nothing more to accomplish with the band and here he is playing mostly TP songs in his solo shows with a couple of crappy songs from his solo album thrown in. If he's gonna sing mostly TP songs, then he may as well just do them with the TP. Fuck, I would love to see them play together one last time!

  • Honestly, I'm not too worried. If Fleetwood Mac can runite (with their f*cked up history), a Tea Party reunion can only be a matter of time...

  • not to mention Pink Floyd!

  • One of the greatest musicians!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • goin to see Jeff tomorrow night in buffalo!!!! hell yeah

  • well my dear friend you kick ass, just like those incredible nights and great memories we all had in st. lucia, thanks for the memories , what about 'angel dust'? G.H.

  • evilbarb, not to brag or anything, but he was in the US in around November. I saw him live in Buffalo, NY.

FRONT ROW. Right in front of this godlike voice.

Sorry if that was bragging lol.

  • Nah, not bragging. I've been front row for many Tea shows :)

  • sucks....when he was in the tea party i wasnt old enough to go to his shows... my parents always went and they didnt take me but ive been front for both of the times he was in buffalo on his solo performance but if you havent heard his next tour is going to be electric!! :)

  • thankyou soo much for the upload. this is my fave tea party tune along with requiem. thankyou. i could melt into this song

  • You're welcome!!

  • Where was this filmed?

  • well since somebody shouts "go sabres!" id imagine buffalo

  • Fremantle, Western Australia. I have more videos from the show that I will be uploading soon.

  • Too bad he forgot the 2nd verse and repeated the 1st...

Emerald. What a great, great song though.

  • Theres the possibility that he didn't like that verse. I recall when they were touring for Transmission, they would skip a verse of Save Me.

  • They did that a lot and/or tossed in a snippet of another song. It's a possibility, but I think he just slipped up.

  • Oooh somebody has some anger issues. Comment deleted :)

  • Yes, thank you sooooo much for posting this. Those of us in the U.S may never get a chance to ever see him live, so anything like this is just awsome for us.

  • Excellent performance, and excellent recording. :)

He needs to release a dvd, just simple accoustic performances like this one. Thanks for posting it.

  • I wonder if anyone has ever seen someone who sings better than J.Martin while playing the guitar at the same time.. He is such a great composer who also influences many other singers/guitarists.. Thanks for this awesome video!

  • Hey AD, thanks for the setlist and obviously the video. I wanted to show it to my friends, and I just couldn't see them downloading the wmv...

  • Here is the rest of the setlist from when I filmed this: The Bazaar, Psychopomp, Requiem, Emerald, Daystar, Shadows On The Mountainside, I Love You/The Messenger, White Water Siren, Lament, Sun's Going Down/Black Snake Blues, Walking Wounded, Gone, In This Time, The Kingdom, Sister Awake, In Your Eyes, Winter Solstice, Save Me, Love The One You're With.
