  • thats freakin amazing

  • what i don't understand is how did u get in one like they don't give free flights must be a price

  • What is the capacity of the external tanks of the CF-18? Are they the same tanks as those used in the US or are they bigger?

  • Very nice, amazing how fast that thing climbs 11,000 feet and don't sweat not having the F22, F35, etc. we cannot afford the few we have and I don't see the US taxpayors approving anything new for some time - maybe our military should start giving us "familiarization flights"; we might reciprocate with more funding. They should take a few of the older trainers and convert to public flight ops.

  • I'm Canadian, FUck Chinese or Korean. By WE i meant our country :D

  • Lol ok good your Canadian.... i was gunna say, if your fucking Chinese or Korean i'd beat the shit out of you but yea i know how ya feel :O WE are pathetic LOL

  • ... Is that why our m4's have alot of good upgrades on them that we made. Is that why our hornets are updated by us... Exactly shut it!

  • I would like to petition that all of CF-18 be upgraded to Super Hornet. Our pilots deserve such upgrade!!!

  • No, thats a waste of money. That airplane is designed like the CF-18 to be Carrier Specific. We bought this because Canada didn't want to buy the f-15 as it was too much. We didn't want to buy the Falcon cause it had one engine, We didn't want to buy the tomcat cause it was too old. We got this. This is good enough but the thing you need to realize is we are about to buy the JSF F-35 :O its just a waste to buy that thing now.

  • Actually Canada almost bought F-14 during 1980s from Iran. CF-18 was more expensive than F-15A back when entered the service - US did not want to sell F-15 to Canada though Canada expressed interest. Super Hornet is capable in its own right as Fighter bomber. If I were Defense Minister, I would purchase F-15E /K/SG class for strike role for our troops, upgraded F-18 Super Hornets for Air Superiority, JSF F-35 for Aerial Suppression and recon. (F-35 is Not a dog fighter).

  • Umm... Thanks for the info on the F-35... I already know that. Nah that's wasting our money, I say screw the 14. Buy F-18/E/F Superhornet for Air-Air and F-18C for Multirole. Both Can do Multirole but with the Superhornets power its just way better. But as for the F-35 we are waiting till something like 2017 or 2018 for the crappy thing. Still Keep our good old hornets. The Cockpits in both are Pretty m uch Identical so we don't have to change our Training Programs whatsoever. :D

  • Screw that, lets get some goddamn raptors! Oh right, they won't sell them to us will they....

  • @Ralroost Raptors are useless the internal bay might help the stealth and speed but it can only carry a very limited arsenal. They're just too expensive for what there worth

  • I know but everyone bitches at me more when i suggest something that isn't a raptor or f-35 lol

  • @FSXnut The raptor can carry stores externally. They often will carry tanks externally.

  • you lucky bastard i hate you

my biggest dream ever in my entire life was to join the Air Force and fly the CF18.. im still debating

this looks amazing, would look even more amazing to see footage like this, very clean sound, but of the pilot pushing the aircraft to its extreme limits.

  • anymore fooage of this

  • Actually we are upgrading our fleet ( i believe the changes are already in effect, or will be in very shortly) We may not have the F-18E's or as many F-18's as the states, but we don't have the same population as the states, hence why the states has more money. Also another reason why the states has more money (goverment) is cuz of the fact that you don't pay for health care. So yea.

  • Experience of a life time!! Well done mate.

Im scared to fly but if i ever had that oppertunity,, id go for it!!

Crazygood150 say's it all in his comment.

(lucky bastard you got a ride in an cf-18 hornet)

Closest ill get is my radio controlled F/A-18. :-)..

  • You didn't even have to say Canadian, the eh's pretty much give it away haha. Sick video man, lucky =).

  • can civilians go for a ride in one? i live in cold lake and ive always wanted to go for a ride in one even if it costed like 2000$ id still pay for a fuckin deadly experience like that

  • why don't you join the Air Force ?

  • I would like to try it too, but I really doubt anybody can... Imagine, I think it cost around 8000$ for full fuel fill. And only a couple of general turns will greatly increase the aging of the aircraft, which is way more expensive than 2000$...

  • I think its more than $8,000. Cuz the Jet Fuel (for GA atleast is around $2/L, and the CF-18 carries around 10,000lbs (don't know the conversion, anyone know?) so yea... tons of money. :S

  • What I was told is that the Hornet, when clean (like mine was), carries around 12,000 pounds. I think a gallon of jet fuel weighs ~ 8.7 pounds. That translates to around 1,380 gallons of jet fuel. Now, you people on the metric system can do your conversions...

  • @airshowfansh Your a bit off. I believe the Hornet burns JP-8 which is 6.8 pounds per gallon. Then again the hornet is designed to burn just about anything you put in it fuel wise.....

  • Not Royal Canadian Air Force anymore??? Thanks we can all sleep better know that now

To all those that got bent over with the idea that Canada is getting the F-35 were not The F-35 is attack role fighter Perfect for are Navy however we haven't had a Aircraft carrier since the early 50's in short since then We have been a defence/Nato country with multi role aircraft.. We just bought a bunch of globemaster cargo planes lol

  • you wanna know something i like canada

  • Ahh Yes timberwolf we are getting the f-35 in 2017 they are already payed for there going to replace our hornets. it's not the hover version the f-35b we are getting the f-35a lighting II which is a watered down version of the B. theses are the 3 variants

    * F-35A, conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) variant.

    * F-35B, short-takeoff and vertical-landing (STOVL) variant.

    * F-35C, carrier-based (CV) variant.

So the more you know ( and the star fly's by)

  • 65 F-35 's (BY) 2017 which will replace the 98, 80 of which are being refurbished.

However with the economy changing the impact maybe change that number Not alot of defence when you have 9,093,507 SQ KM of Canada to cover. If you look at the Last 80 years of war Air defence and offence determed the out come of the victory Something Mister Harper knows nothing about

  • just a quick note though - there is no such thing as the Royal Canadian Air Force any more - not since 1968

  • lucky bastard you got a ride in the CF-18 Hornet

  • Americans are allied. The American planes come to practice with Canadians, along with the NATO countries, Operation Maple Flag (takes place in Canada) or Operation Red Flag (takes place in the US) for example.

  • Today I seen a f-15 ! Canada has f-18's ! why is an Amrican aircraft doing flips and roles in our airspace? if anyone has information in this flight , please comment on it -----MONDAY , may 26 2008 --- between 10 am and 12 pm ..................

  • lol 1G is what you feel in the chair. they only pulled 3.9 as far as i could see from the hud but the sun was bright they may have done somemore after

  • Well the cf 18's are getting upgraded untill atleast 2015 then they might get some us Superhornets or the F 35

  • I'm pretty sure their staying until 2020, they just got recently updated and then I think we get the F-35's after. Maybe not to replace the Hornets, but I think were getting them.

  • Great flight, but the CF-18s have to be getting sort of old by now, no?

  • Well, we've got the F-35's on order but the CF-18's are still serious contenders right now.

  • Great video but the PINK is really hard on my eyes. Gotta a magic wand in your editing suite?

  • fuck man i am so jealous... one of the things i must do before i die.. props bud

  • "cool eh, ya, I cant feel my head, ya thats cool" lol

  • my dream job

  • The pilot sounds like Capt. Mike Ailing callsign "flayling"

  • hes from the show jetstream
