Where are people finding Genesis carts for a dollar? There are a number of used game shops around the Twin Cities, and nearly all of them are horribly overpriced. Those stores are charging $15-$20 for a game, and we're talking only the cartridge, not the box. I have to dig around to find games for $5 or less. Quite frankly, I'm jealous.
@gamesDAMNED you can find games real cheap on eBay, thrift stores are good. They tend to be more expensive if you buy them at a local retro gaming store.
There was a free glove you could send in to Kaneko for. It was fingerless, except for the thumb and was worn on the left hand. I think it was made to allow one's thumb to glide more easily over the directional pad, all while making you look like a pimp.
why hasnt mark reviewed summer carnival 92 recca yet??? he does like shmups from the reviews i have seen and recca is as insane as it gets on NES/Famicon.
AirBuster is probably one of the most underrated shooters on the Genesis. I would re-rent this game over and over again to see if I could shave a continue or two off my game clear.
Dude, don't even try to play the elitist card on me. I had the Sol-Feace (the same game but with all theFM CD cinemas) game as a pack-in when I bought a SegaCD way back when. I thought it was bog standard and boring with the cinemas being the only standout of the game.
@reivenlocke well like I said, sol deace is an overlook game by which I mean BARLEY anyone knew that there was a port of it for the sega genesis so other than games like musha, thunder force iv and sagaia u could say that this is one of them.
One of the few SHMUP Sega Genesis games that had multiplayer. A timeless classic, awesome music, and its difficulty was at the level in which you'd want to play it over and over until you finally beat it. Anyways, if anyone likes classic arcade games this game is one of the best games out there.. Play it!
Also.. this game was called Aero Blasters or something like that.. which would place it higher in the alphabetical list. haha

PC-Engine/Turbo Graphx 16's music/soundtrack for level 2 (Mechanical Cave) was WAY better than arcade, Sega Genesis 16, etc. Oh and this game was too hard!
You never mentioned two players for co-operation play! :(
I've had this game. I heard that the plot is 3 intrepid teens and 2 retired flying aces working to protect the earth from alien invaders. The 3 teens are fighting the aliens using 2 experimental aircrafts the the retired flying aces have designed and built.

aeroblasters was a much better name, and is alphabetically higher up than air buster as well (I know you were joking, but whatever). I mean air buster? WTF is an air buster? oh, an aero(plane) blaster, got it.
Just posed the PCE Stage 1 of this game. Although I like them both the Genesis version is waaaaaaaaaaaay better except for the loading screens. The orginal arcade game was called Air Buster as well. Wonder why they changed the name on some consoles. This game is also name Aero Blasers for the Mega Drive in other Regions.
"Aero Blasters" is the Japanese title... And it was way better on TurboGrafx 16 (where the original title was retained). It's one of my favorite games of all time =D
It says game over on the upper right because this is a 2 player co-op game. You share continues/lives like Contra. This was one of my favorite shooter games for the Genesis, second to Phelios. The instruction manual had some screen shots and cinemas which are no were in the game. I always wondered if this was an arcade port.
The thing you're coming from is right but that isn't a reason for them to change names. They just break up the romaji (the letters how we know them)into hiragana or katakana and that's how they pronounce these english words aswell.

For example the PS2/Xbox/PC Game that is somewhat a spiritual predecessor to Time Hollow on the DS is called "Shadow of Destiny" in the US, but "Shadow of Memories" in Japan and Europe
Yeah ur right hell i didnt even know it was called a genesis until recently, im a megadrive boy, not only that it was the jap version which again was visually a little different. Then of couse you get the SNES or super Famicom again same thing just different in looks and name.
the mega drive was called the genesis in the u.s because somebody already had the rights to the title mega drive, i cant understand why they didnt just remove the space and call it the megadrive?
Just bin thinking, as you do, why did the mega drive jap version release as Aero Blasters, but the the jap arcade version remained as Air Busters? still confused as to the name change
The original Japanese version of this game was called "Air Buster: Trouble Specialty Raid Unit". It's a port of an arcade game, Genesis/Megadrive version is fairly close to the arcade version.
Thank you again, for another awesome old school shooter. I gained all my skill from playing this and all the other shooters on the sega and turbo 16, in my teens. Keep up the good work, more shooters please.
It has been a while since the Genesis got some love from CGRHD. Air Buster is an excellent arcade port and a steal for that price. The HD is looking sharp lately, makes me wish the TF4 video was this high res so I could see how much better an s-video hookup is compared to composite for the genesis.

No problem it's not hard to get lost in all the post for this review.Still thumbs up for CGRHD for reviewing airbuster/aeroblasters.Good shooter no matter what console you play it on genesis or tg16.

So how come i have a japanese cart titled Aero Blasters
rik11110 3 years ago

It's called Engrish.
You can't spell "air" in Japanese, so it's spelled(translated) "Ae-ro".
It's still the same name.

lol that has nothing at all to do with that.
The thing you're coming from is right but that isn't a reason for them to change names. They just break up the romaji (the letters how we know them)into hiragana or katakana and that's how they pronounce these english words aswell.
Game names just change from region to region sometimes. Most of the time that happens without a reason.
One example is the "expansion" of Metal Gear Solid.
