  • i just picked this up today for $2 and its a pretty kool game

  • Mark seems to have some bullet-hell skills! I'm horrible at shooters.. but I have Truxton coming my way so it'll be time to get some skills!

  • Where are people finding Genesis carts for a dollar? There are a number of used game shops around the Twin Cities, and nearly all of them are horribly overpriced. Those stores are charging $15-$20 for a game, and we're talking only the cartridge, not the box. I have to dig around to find games for $5 or less. Quite frankly, I'm jealous.

  • @gamesDAMNED you can find games real cheap on eBay, thrift stores are good. They tend to be more expensive if you buy them at a local retro gaming store.

  • This was Aero Blasters on Turbo Grafx 16

  • There was a free glove you could send in to Kaneko for. It was fingerless, except for the thumb and was worn on the left hand. I think it was made to allow one's thumb to glide more easily over the directional pad, all while making you look like a pimp.

  • "Crushing difficulty"...yesssssss! None of those wussy modern 3D "shooters" that you can complete while catching up on Pokemon episodes for me.

    And I don't watch Pokemon...

  • I remember playing this while I was 5

at 1:48 I was like "Holy, giant flying motorcycle" LOL XD

  • The music is so nostalgic.

  • -900,000,000,000,000 AAA-Aardvark Action Aileron Aircraft 01A

  • so i got it dirt free (lame joke)

  • i found this game in the snow...it survived

  • This was probably my favorite game on the Sega Genesis, even though I never beat it.

  • AirBuster is probably one of the most underrated shooters on the Genesis. I would re-rent this game over and over again to see if I could shave a continue or two off my game clear.

  • @reivenlocke LOL NO......ITS NOT

SOL DEACE IS WITHOUT A DOUTE THE MOST underrated shooter on the genesis, hell I'm pretty sure you never even heard of it.

  • @SNESosT

Dude, don't even try to play the elitist card on me. I had the Sol-Feace (the same game but with all theFM CD cinemas) game as a pack-in when I bought a SegaCD way back when. I thought it was bog standard and boring with the cinemas being the only standout of the game.

By the way...it's "doubt". Just sayin'.

  • @reivenlocke well like I said, sol deace is an overlook game by which I mean BARLEY anyone knew that there was a port of it for the sega genesis so other than games like musha, thunder force iv and sagaia u could say that this is one of them.

  • genesis shooters are the best...SEGA!!

  • MARK!!!!! YOU NEED TO REVIEW BLAST WORKS FOR THE WII!!!!!

  • pls where can i get this game any idea?

  • PC-Engine/Turbo Graphx 16's music/soundtrack for level 2 (Mechanical Cave) was WAY better than arcade, Sega Genesis 16, etc. Oh and this game was too hard!

You never mentioned two players for co-operation play! :(

  • I've had this game. I heard that the plot is 3 intrepid teens and 2 retired flying aces working to protect the earth from alien invaders. The 3 teens are fighting the aliens using 2 experimental aircrafts the the retired flying aces have designed and built.

  • First time I played this was in the arcade and then when it came out for the Genesis I decided to get it. Well worth it too. Great shooter.

  • i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat (deep breath) i shat

  • This game still rocks, even today.

  • Such an underrated game in the genesis library

  • This was a great shooter for the Genny.

  • OH WOW! I've been looking for this game, I first saw it on TurboGraphx-16. Didn't know it was on Genesis too

  • this game was badass and the narrator of this video is trying to be funny but he's obsolete...

  • @Fate0fTheArt obsolete? what the hell you're talking about...

  • Lifeforce was far more original and there artwork kill this hands down.

  • if a negative space ship makes the enemies kill themselves what happens if you divide by zero

  • I remember this arcade console in a carival

  • aeroblasters was a much better name, and is alphabetically higher up than air buster as well (I know you were joking, but whatever). I mean air buster? WTF is an air buster? oh, an aero(plane) blaster, got it.

  • Just posed the PCE Stage 1 of this game. Although I like them both the Genesis version is waaaaaaaaaaaay better except for the loading screens. The orginal arcade game was called Air Buster as well. Wonder why they changed the name on some consoles. This game is also name Aero Blasers for the Mega Drive in other Regions.

  • "Aero Blasters" is the Japanese title... And it was way better on TurboGrafx 16 (where the original title was retained). It's one of my favorite games of all time =D

  • I just got this game and its strange that its not in its full 4:3 ratio. Luckly my LCD tv has a fill in mode to fix the veiw.

  • OK, 1:12 to 2:15 is seriously the best totally random tangent ever to appear on CGRHD. Hilarious. Bravo.

  • Had the TurboGrafx-16 version I think....

  • I had this as a kid and thought it was really easy, so I traded it away. Wish I still had it if it's so rare now.

  • in good condition complete on ebay it goes for 30 to 70 bucks i had no idea lol i have this game and didnt know it was rare

  • my friend sead he is way better than you

  • "sead"? That's not even close to being a real world. Truly you must be 7 years old.

  • @Tryzon Hilarious.

  • just looked this game up its actually very rare and goes for big bucks online

  • And silly me gave my entire SEGA Genesis to my cousin, with this game, for like $50 about 12 years ago!

  • Aardvark Action Spaceship Superfighter?

    AASS?

  • 001 Aardvark Action Spaceship Superfighter.

    001AASS

    #1 ASS ^_^

  • ...I like it.

  • Of course you do: everyone loves it!

  • why does it always say game over in the right upper corner?

  • It says game over on the upper right because this is a 2 player co-op game. You share continues/lives like Contra. This was one of my favorite shooter games for the Genesis, second to Phelios. The instruction manual had some screen shots and cinemas which are no were in the game. I always wondered if this was an arcade port.

  • where do you get these games so cheap? i demand to know!

  • tell me about it... this game goes for major bucks on ebay

  • love it

  • r-type is nothing but a boring snore fest

  • Hahaha, love it.

"A number so negative the enemies would actually kill themselves."

Great comedy, I love these reviews. Nice and laid back.

  • 2 player co-op is a mass!!

  • This game looks interesting.

  • $1 you got lucky there ;)...btw i love your reviews

  • R-Type was the shiz...obviously you guys just sucked at it.

  • The original japanese name of this game is Aero Blaster.

  • @addiuslovidicus Same for PC-Engine and Turbo Graphx 16. :)

  • Hello? R-type sucked balls!! This looks like a better game.

  • Gradius rocks

  • Intresting game, it reminds me very much of the spaceship shooting levels in Turrican II. Very similar in some parts.

  • u review alot of these type of games do u have and if u do have solfeace i think u should review it

  • ROFL! Enemies kill themselves comment FTW.

  • I remember playing this game on the Turbo Grafx 16! I didn't know there was a Genesis port!

BTW Mark, if you want a kick-ass shooter, you should try Forgotten Worlds on the Genesis.

  • Somebody call MENSA, I think we have a candidate.

  • Grats on pointing out the obvious.. I can say Halo is a rip off Wolfenstein but by god.. I don't want to give anyone a tamper tantrum.

  • Awesome review. I really love the soundtrack of this game.

  • I watched this again just to hear the drum roll heh

  • awesome drum roll!

  • The fact that "AIR BUSTER" is such a horrible tittle is proof enough that it's the original tittle Japanese tittle.

  • So how come i have a japanese cart titled Aero Blasters

  • @rik11110

    It's called Engrish.

You can't spell "air" in Japanese, so it's spelled(translated) "Ae-ro".

    It's still the same name.

  • lol that has nothing at all to do with that.

The thing you're coming from is right but that isn't a reason for them to change names. They just break up the romaji (the letters how we know them)into hiragana or katakana and that's how they pronounce these english words aswell.

Game names just change from region to region sometimes. Most of the time that happens without a reason.

One example is the "expansion" of Metal Gear Solid.

    In J it was MGS:Integral

    US: Virtual Missions

    EU: Special Missions

  • kind of like how Pacman in Japan was written "Puck Man" but they changed the name when they brought it to the US bcz they were worried that someone might change the "P" to "F".

  • Cheers for the comments guys i just find it strange that they would change from the jap version aero blaster to another name that means the same and is still spelt in english. surely there is some japenese laguage that comes close to describing the game rather than giving it 2 english names. Not trying to start an argument just wondered why all versions are given a different name but remain in english?

  • No one knows. But it's like that with many games out there.

For example the PS2/Xbox/PC Game that is somewhat a spiritual predecessor to Time Hollow on the DS is called "Shadow of Destiny" in the US, but "Shadow of Memories" in Japan and Europe

  • Or the best example is the Sega Genesis which is called Mega Drive in europe and japan. There's no reason for that either.

  • Yeah ur right hell i didnt even know it was called a genesis until recently, im a megadrive boy, not only that it was the jap version which again was visually a little different. Then of couse you get the SNES or super Famicom again same thing just different in looks and name.

  • the mega drive was called the genesis in the u.s because somebody already had the rights to the title mega drive, i cant understand why they didnt just remove the space and call it the megadrive?

  • Well who knows... but maybe that's one reason why game names change aswell from region to region?

  • Just bin thinking, as you do, why did the mega drive jap version release as Aero Blasters, but the the jap arcade version remained as Air Busters? still confused as to the name change

  • The original Japanese version of this game was called "Air Buster: Trouble Specialty Raid Unit". It's a port of an arcade game, Genesis/Megadrive version is fairly close to the arcade version.

  • Wow hes actually reall good 0.0

  • This kinda reminds me of Aegis Wing for XBLA.

  • Thank you again, for another awesome old school shooter. I gained all my skill from playing this and all the other shooters on the sega and turbo 16, in my teens. Keep up the good work, more shooters please.

  • "001 aardvark action spaceship super fighter" lol

  • "Hey did you just fart. I'm getting out of here for some Air Buster!!!"

  • First onh!! ;-)

  • It has been a while since the Genesis got some love from CGRHD. Air Buster is an excellent arcade port and a steal for that price. The HD is looking sharp lately, makes me wish the TF4 video was this high res so I could see how much better an s-video hookup is compared to composite for the genesis.

  • OMG OMG i remember this! i only remember that i actually had a sega gensis 5 mins ago lol. (i was only a kid)

  • your voice kinda sounds like Seth Rogan! maybe you could work the word "mc lovin" into a review

  • mark you sure do love them shooters ^_^

  • It was called Aero Blasters.

  • That it was i see i had a typo there sorry.

  • Actually, I never saw your post. I wasn't nitpicking, I was just posting. Enough people are picky assholes on youtube without me being apart of that. :)

    Sorry for the confusion.

  • No problem it's not hard to get lost in all the post for this review.Still thumbs up for CGRHD for reviewing airbuster/aeroblasters.Good shooter no matter what console you play it on genesis or tg16.

  • Good review man it is also on the turbografx 16 as areo blasters.

  • you really delivered the funny on naming the game

  • Since you've already done so many frogger reviews, and playstation games it'd be interesting to see you do one on Frogger for PS, since it was before it turned completely crappy.

  • Wow.. i'm watching in HD... Wow...

  • 001 aardvark action spaceship superfighter, coming soon to Wii near you

  • i totally remember playing this game in the arcades in the early '90s. awesome game. i didn't even know they made it for the genesis.

  • First, onh!! ;-)

  • far from it lol

  • looks like another Genesis classic. I do still prefer the SNES, but not by much really, the Genesis has a LOT of good games, and many of them are exclusives.

  • Never seen this game before. I have now added it to my must buy list for my Genesis games. Thanks Mark for the excellent review.

  • wow $ 1 dollar :D you got it for a piece dude

  • glad you review this game Classic Game Room" this is one of favorite side scroller shooter games of all time for my sega genesis system next the thunder force series :D

  • The intro from all your reviews makes my nipples hard

  • Dude, you need some serious help...

  • wow a sega, i had a sega genis but i brother keept pluging it in and out then he turned it on an it blew up(litaraly)*note typeing from wii is very hard*

  • this game looks really cool. too bad i suck at this type of game and will probably lose all my lifes on the first level

  • This was one of the games I most fondly remember when I was growing up for it was one of the only games my dad would play. I still have the game to this day. :) It's disappointing that one of my favorite games from that time is only sold for 1 dollar. :|

  • Hey you got some slick moves in that video. Right now I am addicted to Fire Shark and Truxton, looks like this one is next.

  • this game is worth its soundtrack alone. I love the early 90s computer generated music.

  • @seroyer2 Have you listened to PC-Engine/Turbo Graphx 16's soundtrack for phase 2 (Mechanized Caves)? It is way better than the one for arcade, Sega Genesis, etc. I wonder why the change.

  • This was also Aero Blasters on the PC Engine/TurboGrafx 16. Both versions are quite similar, with slight differences in graphics and parallax.

  • Sweet review, Will play this on a Rom, keep up the great work dude

  • heh cool I never heard of this one before. It looks pretty sweet and has a good soundtrack. The levels look very well varied too.

  • AIR BUSTER THAT WAS MY GAME!

it also know as Aero Blaster

    in japan

  • wow this game is fast

  • Cool, this was one of my favourites on the Turbografx-16.

  • Awesome review. I was entertained.

  • ah the memories...this is one of my favorite games for the megadrive or genesis. 5 star review

  • Never played this game. Where is Dead Space Review Part 2?

  • a perfect arcade port... Genesis power...

  • excellent graphics!

  • who gives a shit about video quality wow the give me generation

  • The video quality wasn't very good (?). And you forgot to mention its quite unique two player mode. Still a good review.

  • Its been a long while since I played this one. Awesome video man.

  • Ha could you reveiw killerinstanks

  • OHHH yeeahhh..this game is wicked!!!!!!!!

  • "negative nine trillion"

arrrgh my neck already hurts today, now your title rant got me some nauseous headache... :I

  • Wow, speak of the devil!

I was just playing the arcade version of this and then BAM, you psychic lot upload this!

  • Always liked this game. As a shmup fan though I also always hated the weapons system but I guess that was why it is so hard. Great review 5/5.

  • =D i call this a fun little vid =D

  • Your good in these type of game.

  • Its also on TG-16 under the name of "Aero Blasters". I played that version first, then Air Buster on Genesis years later.

Gotta love that crazy load time between levels.

  • Oh its also one of my fave shooter games. You're so right, the soundtrack is awesome!

  • good review

  • Genesis synth...check

    Muti-layer parallax... check

    Cool Genesis Shooter... check

  • HELL YEA YOUR REVIEWS KICK ASS!
