  • Today music can't never be compare to the brilliants and everlasting songs of our era - they don't have the real soul thats deep down in the pit of the heart. today song are build on marijuana and vodka... I will cling on to my era and die with it in soul..

  • I first heard this song when I was 13 years young. Today I just turned 46 and could not wait to get home to hit this song up on YouTube! God...This brings back so many memories...my best memories!

  • WHEN LIFE WAS SIMPLE NO PROBLEMS JUST FUN FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was so very young when this joint came out. Even though I'm 40 years old,I always admit that the 70's had the best ones out.

  • I can't say enough good things about this music that i grew up on. Young love so innocent and pure. This was the way love songs were meant to be.

  • Oh I am ta young girl again going to a house party and having a dance with Jack Alizaga. Yeah take me back to James Lick Middle School!

  • Six people have no body or soul. This is classic!!

  • Oh My GOSH!!!

I've been lookin 4 this song for most of my LIFE!!!

OMG Thank you for sharing this one. I kept asking my older sibblings who sang this song cause you're right it's been forgotten. But I never forgot! This is my fav song of all times. I remember my 4 sisters and I formed a little group in our fam and we practiced and sang this song til we could sing it just like them. We called ourselves the Johnson 5 and of course I was the baby of the bunch like Michael Jackson.

  • I remember this song when i was 7 years old ,wow the lyrics so deep ,Your no longer dating a boy you got a man on your hands ,Thats the way it gotta be ,2 say how you feel about love without fear of being hurt,Love is the greatest Jewel.

  • Back in the 70's when New York city started Hip-Hop, I though it was a new an exciting expression of the times, then later in the late 70's ( Sugar Hill Gang's) Rapper Delight song came and took the Nation by storm introducing Hip-Hop to the world if we only knew that this art form would be the Death of R&B soul....We would have let Hip-Hop die in the 70's like the Crips & Bloods......Black Pride Peace.......

  • my pops had the 8-track of this in the 71 coupe deville. this and other classics that ended up helping shape the man that i am today.

  • I'm from 70 's Newark,Vailsburg, and this is old school greatness at its best!!!

  • wow what happened sorry yes i have ti ask

  • Amen!

  • I know this song well when I first heard it got on my bike peddled down to the record shop and bought the 45 for 26cents!

  • anybody know where i can find this song? itunes or anything...thanks

  • I remember going away to camp and we had a dace one night. This song came on and I had my first slow dance with a girl I didn't know...... I was only 12 at the time but got the meaning of the song and never turned back. This music was the best. Back when they played more slow jams than fast jams at a quarter party LOL.

  • This is what music was like when I was young, slow dancing at basement parties, going to bed and letting those 45"s drop on the turntable thinking about that special someone.

  • God bless you clavon06 for taking us all back to a better time and place. Everybody remembers what they were doing when this song came out. I was going to Shimer JHS in Jamaica, NY. Oh I remember this song like it was yesterday. I had to sneak ouf of the house to go to house parties. Got beat when I got back but I remember doing the grind to this song. Memories wonderful memories. Thank you

  • man oh man where did we go wrong with todays music. nothing like the great classics like this one i could drive acrosss country with music like this.

  • even back then we were ready to say i do and realize that we didny want the body we wanted the sould of that person too unlike these niggsa today male and female purely after sex video vixens you got to want more than them lusting for your body get some real love and real self esteem

  • Montclair Baby in the house!!!!!! wus gud baby ? Don't I know all bout dis thang. Keep it comin Beloved. Peace and blessings always. Essex County is truly one of kind.

  • GO MY MAN CLIFF....

  • I grew up in L.A. 25 cents parties noon dances at high school and junior high, when junior high went from 7th to 9th grade. They just don't know they have really srewed things up for the generations. Like my Grandson and many others lol:D

  • @coolnighthawk45: I grew up in Newark too on South Orange Avenue and 7th street up towards West Side High School.....i moved away in 1995 and i never thought i would miss it like i do. The 70s was a time of fun and those basement parties were the time to let the girl you liked know just what you were feeling for her. My pops used to say to me..."boy you better keep your zipper up,cause i'm too young to be a grandfather"...LMAO. Those were the days. Sorry to see what music has become.

  • I can't help but think about how todays' music (for the most part) divides and pits us against each other, and how a not-so-much earlier time nurtured attitudes of young love, new love, and potential love. If you know this song and see this reply...step back; where are you now?

  • @ernestcumbess Well, I'm a little smarter than I was then! But you're quite correct in your assessment, I couldn't agree more because it was a time of young love (and it was primarily emotional love, which these type of song spoke to, I wasn't trying to hear about our most primal tendencies) for me also, a time that will be forever etched into my heart.

  • @ernestcumbess yes, and its because music is just a reflection of us... there is still love out there though, and of course it will always overcome the hate in the end... sometimes it seems impossible but i still believe the good guys win in the end. peace.

  • @ernestcumbess where am I now.....trying to nurture some potential love...this music is real..hits the core of your being

  • take THAT american idol !

  • This was a favorite of MY singing group to sing. If you love SOUL music, check out "Stone Harmony" on youtube! There are about eleven live performances featured there!

I could dance all night... and I was a "good girl"... but THIS is the era of LOVE SONGS... these young folks just don't know what they are missing!

  • Hey JAC, I grew up in Roxbury MA and we did the same thing... Thats when you went to a party to slow dance. they would play more slow jams than fast ones. those quarter parties were the best LoL. and yes this song still stands the test of time....

I remember my first slow dance to this, all these years later and it feels like it just happened when i hear this song and others from this era. So sad the way music has lost its power today to make people feel good. Thamks for posting this it really made my day.

  • @DaStr8Truth Your first slow dance experience made me smile. I remember mine with a similar song...I didn't want the song to finish and when it did , I had an instant crush on the guy! The music was responsible for that. Songs from the 70's era were lush, meaningful and timeless. Continue to enjoy it always...

  • @DaStr8Truth I lived in Brooklyn, NY and it was the same, especially at hookie parties. Wow, the making out. We weren't bad kids cause it didn't go as far as what kids do today. It's ironic that I now live in Newark, and it reminds me of Brooklyn, NY!

  • @DaStr8Truth I know exactly what you mean i grew up there too and remember too good times they were

  • @DaStr8Truth : Me too!

  • Yes, a beautiful expression of love and devotion indeed! Beautiful lyrics and harmonies and the brothers giving it all they've got on the drums, piano, bass, strings and horns. Men of color pouring they're hearts out, uplifting women of color! Now its all about T&A and cash money, total downgrade, no real talent, just flash & cash. No love songs.
