All I have to say is... thank goodness Jake Delhomme is gone. You look back at some of these old catches and you realize how good Steve Smith made Delhomme look. There are so many throws in here that with other receivers, would have been interceptions - no question.

He probs won't play for the Panthers next year, but he'd be a go-to guy, which is great for a rookie QB, and what Cam needs right off the bat, and he also has Deangelo, and Jonathan Stewart, plus he can scramble. Plus with Jon Beason in the other side as a defensive star, in a few years, they're a contender.

Think about it if Steve Smith played in heavy pass offenses like Randy Moss has his whole career... His Stats would be crazy... The Carolina Panthers have been the most heavy Run Game based offense in the NFL for over the last 10 years. Not including the terrible qb's he's had in his entire career. Jake Delholmme has been over rated over those past years.

He makes plays that very few other WRs in the NFL can make. His statistics from 09 may not show that he top 5 but thats because of the QB he had and because of the offensive system he is in. I think with Matt Moore (or Jimmy Clausen) throwing to him I think of the next 3 years he could average 1300 yards a season along with double digit TDs. He also needs to stay healthy.

@AP1495 i agree but its not the qbs fault totally the reciever still has to make the play and catch the ball the qb can only be so accurat on the run and the deffence is letting the other team get to close to fast so all in all everyone isn't doing the best they can making the whole team look bad not just steve smith i mean they just won a game this year and its week 6
