  • hey man how do you know when the trains are coming by in your area, or where they're headin, or even when they'll stop? I've got a bad case of wonderlust and i need to know these things....hard to find answers on such topics, please respond. thanks brother.

  • @irishbroog92 man I wish I had a short answer for you but there are no easy answers. Honnestly your best bet would be to find someone who rides trains in your area (Florida) and have them show ytou the ropes..Im in Cambodia right now so cant help you there. Google Northbankfred and check out his site for starters

  • @wizehop hey i really appreciate the feedback, its a real passion of mine. well...keep postin these vids man!

    peace

  • @kjbrien2009

Don't rely on books. You probably wouldn't gamble yr life by reading a book or watching a movie about jets and then trying fly one across the country. Get schooled first by someone who has safely been riding freights for more than a year.

  • sweet drag race!!

  • That was sweet. Did the guys in the CN loco see you? lol

  • @crazeejay2006 I don't think so but you never know. We where getting of in less than ten mins so it wasn't too much of a worry.

  • haha you were on cp 152

  • how the HELL do you get on the back of a stack train

  • @brljcb they are getting harder to ride than they used to

  • you are all idiots. I work for CN and anything could happen. If you have seen some of the things that I have seen from people hitching rides on our cars you would not even try it. You never know when you will slip or make a wrong move. Especialy in open box cars. those doors do not lock open and if you are getting on and it starts rolling and you look out to see whats up and they happen to be makin up a train as soon as it makes a couple that door will slam shut and there goes your noggin.

  • @myers2308 Thanks for the advice and yes I have seen how bad people can get hurt by trains..they were all railway employees by the way. I have been riding trains for almost two decades and I have yet to receive even a scratch. People die every single day doing things that are perfectly safe and legal. Trains are more predictable that most things, especially when you have done your research. We except the risks involved and I do things much more dangerous than riding trains.

  • @myers2308

Another safety speech from a youtube perv.

    Yawn.

  • Canadian Pacific Railway vs. Canadian National Train

    very interesting to watch

  • this is very exciting and interesting

  • Cool Video man

  • Ive heard of people losing their limbs from this, how does that happen?

I think if you were stupid enough to dive out you could just roll or something, even if you got injured it wouldnt be that serious.

But if you fell between the cars thats a whole new story.

    Looks really fun though :)

  • Nicee I wanna try this!

  • nice little ride, just did a few hundred mile 48, shit was real nice.

  • I was planning on doing this some time, Only problem i see that i cant cover is, how do you land when you jump?

  • you shouldnt be jumping of moving trains

  • agreed, i used to ride them from my friends house to my house what would take the bus 45 minutes would take the train 15 the only thing is broke both of my legs jumping off, Damn hydro pole!!!!

  • man are you serious....dude you got to pay attention with those things..what happened exactly

  • Thers lotsa dope graffiti on the freights!!

  • one of the benefits of riding

  • I'm looking for a documentary made about riding trains, played on PBS or something. if anyone knows where I can find it, lemme know.

  • There are a few out there, what happened in it?

  • Catching out?

  • nice...

  • How do I figure out where a freight train is going?

  • wow good video

  • Ahh, nothing like traveling on a shipping container car.

Regarding penalties: I was caught riding a train in Arizona about six weeks ago. I faced a $450 fine for 'criminal trespass 3rd degree' and had to spend over a month hanging around near Arizona. Last Wednesday after I couldn't get a ride to AZ from California, which caused me to miss my scheduled arraignment, I soon found out that the charge had been dropped anyway. A month of very stressful tramping.

  • @AimlessRyan how were you caught??

  • ok ;)

But if the machinic of that other train u saw, than you was in problems i think ?

  • It depends, some do not mind others may call security. We were getting off the train soon so it did not matter, by the time the poilce would come we would be long gone

  • goes fast! need to wait long for he's gonna stop ?

  • No we were about 15 minutes from the yard.

  • Who won CP or CN???

  • CP by a long shot. but in all fairness CN was slowing down to enter the yard, and we had a bit further to go yet.

  • If you guys like riding these trains so much, just go apply for a job there lol. They will pay you alot of money to do it :D

  • lol, I actually though about it back in the day. Thing is I don't live near any train yards and well I'm pretty busy running the fam business anyhow...besides there's more thrill in doing things your not supposed to do!

  • good stuff man I ride for fun too....

  • were you trying to get somewhere or doing this for fun?

  • always for fun

  • just be careful

  • Lol, thanks. Like most things that can be dangerous, there are a few golden rules to follow. I may not obay the trespassing part so much, but I do enjoy my body parts...as does my gf

  • can you get arrested for this?

  • ohh yea XxRsmallzxX

they can arrest you or slap you in the face with a HUGE fine

    its considered tresspassing

  • Wow, its something i kinda want to try but i dont want to go threw all that trouble haha

  • i know right

but i've been on railroad tracks plenty of times

the furthest i've ever road a train is about half a mile lol

but never had an altercation with the police so far

  • smart guy..i would rather ride a CP train then CN anyday..it must of been a wide windy ride at sixty miles per hour...good vid.

  • thanks, the only thing with cp is they dont put floors on a lot of there cars..was windy but once the sun was up it was a pretty sweet ride

  • they cut the floors on purpose. huge project. not that old.

  • They are still very ridable. Cp has been that way since I can remember. They dont need those floors anyhow, they are a waist of money.

  • ya, too bad it was a Sunday!

  • where were you coming in from? I rid from TO to MTL once, first train. And tried to come from QBC(charny) but g/f and I got pulled off before we made it 5miles out of the yard. Your vid showed how IMs go faster than GMs.. =)

  • That time it was from smith falls ( the train originated in Toronto). I know about charny, I got chased our of there by guys on four wheelers a few years back myslef :)

  • hey i know you!

  • you wish little man ;)

  • is it legal to train hop?

  • No for two reasons. one being Liability, the other being saftey. So unless your willing to take the chance with getting busted, or lossing body parts, getting lost, dying ext...dont do it :)

  • but how illegal? are we talking fines?

  • ya at the most really. Depending on who catches you, they will most likely just let you go with a warning. Either way your not suposed to be seen.

  • cool thanks. That isn't bad. 100-200 bucks or w/e would be something I'd be willing to risk (in terms of getting caught)

looks really cool. something to consider one day perhaps. Research would certainly have to be done. It seems like there are a lot of non-obvious dangers.

Anyways. Thanks for the video and the reply!

  • Ya man, weather is one of the big ones....

  • Oh I bet. I bet even 5 degrees is pretty cold when having wind constantly on you. If not warmer than 5 degrees

I wouldn't touch it till the spring for sure. Even then. Just something I find really interesting.

At my last job, a friend did Toronto to BC, sounded quite neat.

  • Its quite the adventure, but its a rugged one. Sometimes your stuck in the rain, the cold, or the extreem heat, waiting for hours for the right train ext...if you like ruffing it then its the perfect pasttime

  • this asome man i cant wait to see more of your videos

  • Thanks man, I have a whole bunch of stock footage/train geek shit from freight hoppin. At some point I'll be editing them together and posting

  • sweet!!!
