  • ok good tips lol i tried it and it turned out bad the first few times then i finaly got it i wanted to quit when i landed on my neck....... and i cant get a spotter this stinks

  • Oh, thanks. "You will kill yourself." That makes me feel good about doing this move. O.o

  • PS. I don't have a spotter, nor a matress/mat. Although, I know what I'm doing. I'm just afraid that I may injure myself. So I must ask, if I know EXACTLY what I'm doing, will I fall on my face? -_- Or is this just a stupid question? Lol

  • @RainAndAshes

You never know for sure if you know EXACTLY what you're doing until you try it. If you are confident enough to do it, just find anything soft for just in case. like, even if you stack up blankets and pillows. But if you really do know exactly what you're doing these will just be precautions. It's always up to you when you're ready, just be as safe as you can. Accidents = no fun.

  • @WolvesKin Ah! O.O Hahah, thank you. :D

  • @RainAndAshes

Also, you will not land on your face if your arms stay straight/strong and reach the floor first.

  • Best tutorial I have ever seen. :]

  • @RainAndAshes

    Thank you :3

  • After the multiple times of watching the video, I finally flipped. Now I just have to practice the jump to where I'm not shorting it. But I got over my fear of doing it in 3 days!

  • @joescoping

    YAY congratulations! :D

  • you are the best youtube teacher EVERRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @splokolong

    Aww, thank yoou :)

  • How long did it take you to get your back handspring?

  • @ePiCfitness2

Uhm, it took me a while, but i didn't have very good instruction when i started and i was very unflexible so it took me longer to gain back flexibility so my back could bend enough to even do the flip. It all depends on the individual, it really does. I've taught some people in a matter of weeks before. it all just depends.

  • dude u r bomb

  • ff5! YEEEAAAH

  • Hey :) Are back handsprings supposed to be hard?? I'm to scared to try!!

  • this dude makes me laugh :D

  • iFINALLY DID IT !!! THANK YOU (:

  • @MiJAAHFLAMEE13

YAAAYYYY!! I'm happy for you!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • @MiJAAHFLAMEE13

You should get a video and post it!

  • u scared the crap out of me in the beginning

  • i really want to learn but i get scared

  • @kamzy74

Do you have any access to a gym or a trampoline? If so start with some basics to just get used to moving before you start flipping and gain confidence in your body control.

  • Whenever I do my spring, I keep my arms locked and it hurts badly in my elbows. Am I doing something wrong with my arms/ wrists? And is this what's causing me to always land on my face? Please, help thank you(:

  • @samisama98 It hurts your elbows? Well, it sounds like it could be one of a few things. Do your elbows hyper-extend? If so, i can imagine it would hurt to land on them that way. Otherwise there may just be something wrong with your technique. Or there's the possibility you need to just work on your arm strength a bit more, i don't your body type so it's just another random guess.

  • I love ur video it's helpful and funny

    But quick question

Would u need to accomplish a back walkover or something before a back handspring Would it help any ???

  • @Bonnie3911

No, you do not need to be able to do a back walkover first. You back really only needs to be flexible enough to hold a bridge or to go into a bridge from a standing position.

Yes it would be helpful though. Any method of gojng backwards onto your hands and then getting over would be helpful, but not necessary. That is, you are not limited to learning a back walkover before your back handspring, despite what your teacher may say. I know from my own experience.

  • Question: When my spotter is spotting me, he says I kick too much in my backhandspring? How do I stop kicking in my backhandsprings? Thanks. :)

  • @BeautyAndCheer3000

You stop kicking by using your hips to "kick" yourself trhough. I think your spotter means that you're trying to use your feet to kick yourself through, or basically only using your feet for rotation.

As i said though, you have to use your hips to push yourself through. Kicking would be using your feet. But in the handspring you only use your feet to take off and land on. nothing else. once in the air your feet should be dead weight, following your feet.

  • question: following your steps would it still be ok not to have a spotter

  • @MsCooliegirl

If you are using a trampoline or other safe practicing areas yes, probably. But not if you're just on the ground unless you have previous experience with this.

This sort of backwards flip can be dangerous, so you really want to be sure you not only know what you're doing, but sure you physically can get the technique right so as to not hurt yourself.

Honestly, if you can even get a friend or parent to just catch you if you mess up, get them.

  • I agree with MiJAAHFLAMEE13, like i have watched a bunch of videos, tutorials, and even I even watced my friends do it! But when it comes to actually doing it, my fear jumps in and i chicken out!! D: Any advice?

  • @xuanie21

The only real way to overcome your fear is to not fear getting hurt. Which, of course, is natural to fear. So, the only REAL way to not be afraid of getting hurt is to get someone to spot you, or a trampoline to make it easier.

Fear is a natural thing you have to keep you from doing something to hurt yourself, you can't just overcome it without having a reason to not be afraid, which comes with surety that someone will help you if you should fail; a spotter.

  • Hi!! ok you are the BEST teacher on YouTube I have seen yet do this!!! but anyway... HOW DO I GET OVER MY FEAR WHEN IM ABOUT TO JUMP BACK ! HELP!!

  • @MiJAAHFLAMEE13

  • @2958Sing

Yes, get a wrap or wrist brace and use it when you flip. And make sure you can do normal things like handstands and pushups with it on and if it doesn't hurt go for it.

  • 'if you jump up you are going to kill yourself' lol

  • Question. Whats a good way to lose the fear of doing a back tuck. My friends say i have it n i do it by myself but I'm too scared to do it by myself and often bail out and end up getting hurt =[. Is doing a really high backhandspring ( bringing my legs up in a tuck pos while in the air ) can help me ??

  • I have a question; besides learning how to do a handstand, what other types of things should I learn before attempting this? I don't want to die :(

  • 2 people fell on their neck

  • Im scared to jump.:/ Help me?

  • Question..is it safe to do this on a trampoline ??

  • @XxkaydonxX

That's the safest way to do it without a spotter!

  • @WolvesKin cool, well i trust myself, im sure i;ll be just fine. xD

  • @WolvesKin dude i want ur jacket

  • @XxkaydonxX Basically if you get around the worst thing that could happen is that you land on your knees. But if you are really scared, ask someone to spot you. Good luck :)

  • Lol, know i know what to do if im sitting on a chair ,, and someone pushes it backwards,, a BACKHAND SPRING ! :p

  • Wow thanks a lot man! Now I really started to do it! THANKS A BUNCHHHH!!!!! this video is much more detailed than others ^^ ;D

But this sort of helped, thanks!

  • hey, you're hot.... hahaha so if i end up in the hospital doing this am i allowed to sue you...? (:

  • You are CUTE;)

  • You are CUTE!!! ;)

  • legs arent supposed 2 even be bent!!!!! THEY SHOULD BE STRAIGHT!!!!!!

  • @sammypeaceluv456

This isn't a tutorial on how to do a perfect competitive gymnastics back-handspring. You don 't HAVE to have your legs straight to do it just for fun.

  • @WolvesKin Umm okay then? at LEAST thats how i do em, and how i was taught.

  • @sammypeaceluv456

I never said that was wrong, i just said it's not NEEDED to perform the trick. It most certainly looks better when performed with straight legs. I definitely agree with that. I'm not telling you that you shouldn't do the flip that way.

  • @WolvesKin Oh and u just did this on ur own one day out of boredism or something right?

  • @sammypeaceluv456

I did in fact learn this just for the fun, and not for competition.

  • Great video your funny ;)

  • i thank u so much this tutorial helped me get my backhandspring months ago

  • you gotta jump BACKWARDS!!!!!!! NOT backwards but BACKWARDS!!!

  • @yogirlyo100

    Yea, uhm, WHAT?

  • @WolvesKin its just funny how u say it LOL

  • @yogirlyo100 sucked :P

  • hi! im a cheerleader and a tumbler in process. i have a back hand spring on the trampoline and can do it on the floor but land on my knees, undercut, and bend my arms. any tips? i just got it on the floor yesterday and have done many on the floor but the last one i did i fell on my head and popped my shoulder out. how do i prevent this?

  • i luaghed my ass off when u said dont jump up u r gonna kill ur self lool i actually doo thaaaat !!! XD

  • Your HOT!!(:

  • how do u know all this? ur a dude.

  • @BreaNicole3 Parkour and freerunning is beastly and manly and they do these kinds of flips too. lol

  • @WolvesKin exactly.. parkour is an amazing athletic sport. I love it, even though I'm not that good. I just want to be able to do flips so thats why I'm watchin this. I'd rather learn it from a dude anyways, than a girl. good job man :)

  • @BreaNicole3 y cant hge know this

  • Okay so I know that I'm not suppose to bend my arms but whenever I'm going for it I always bend my arms and land on my head I do it on my moms bed but idk how to fix it?? I can do a handstand and hold it up for a long time but idk why I'm bending my arms PLEASE HELP !!!! URGENT !!!!!

  • @SarBearANDTyTY exactly the same as me......even the mom's bed part.... :D but yea......PPL PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • great tutorial!! What's the song?

  • U dont have to put ur hands in front of u and point them if ur at a cheer competition u dont put ur hands in front of u!

  • @katester0512 Yes but its good for repetition. Like, you cant stop after one flip and then wait till you get your arms back ready to swing through again, It needs flow to work properly therefore swinging your arms thruogh from behind will slow the proccess and have no flow. :)

  • @katester0512

Swinging your arms is for when you're doing a standing one alone. When you combine more than one you don't reset your hands and re-swing them because you already have the backward momentum. This is a tutorial for learning to do one by itself, standing. Otherwise you are correct.

  • HAHA! I have learnt to back handspring WAY better than what I could before checking this video out. :) Sitting in a chair, keeping your hands in front and watching your hands all worked perfectly! I used to jump up a lot, swing my arms through like a backflip and I would never watch my hands, I used to put my hands behind my head and now that I have done all these I can perform it smoothly! Thanks WolveSkin! This is where I will come to when I want another tutorial. :P

  • im scared to go back.. even though i have been in tumling for a year i can do a back walkover is it like that? just faster?

  • How do u get over the fear of flipping back? plzzzzzzzz replie!

  • @txtingqueen121

try doing like back bends/falling back into bridges then move onto back walkovers & also use a soft mat for your first few tries so you can trust yourself!

  • @leah0566 OKay thank you! because i have problem trusting myself of fliping backwards so thnx :)

  • THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH this helped alot :D also the only one person who doesnt like the video is a loser ;)

  • THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH this helped alot :D

  • omg, every vids are like "get a spotter, get a spotter". Its not that easy to get a spotter, and who shall that be? My mom? Im gonna do this by my own and break my neck

  • @charliebabybluexx Some people need more detail to learn, some people can just watch and observe to learn. So no, i don't need to just get to it, if learning all the details isn't for you it is perfectly easy to skip those steps. lol

  • The One Dislike is the person who failed at trying it. lmao jk

  • @NickiMinajTheBEST No, i think you're right! lol

  • @WolvesKin Lmao Epic fail at trying it! Lol

  • SUPER CUTE GUY

  • thanks this is realy going to help xxxx

  • @noclassatall dont say bullshits: of course you cant learn this ON CONCRETE or ON THE GRASS at first attempt...but you can...if you believe in yourself

  • Respect! =)

  • @noclassatall False! Humans are meant to do whatever crazy flips they desire to learn!

  • this is really good!! but you are actually supposed to jump with a straight body, not an arched one, you naturally arch once your hands touch the ground, as long as you jump high enough.

  • "with a backhandspring you fall backward! not backward and falls onto the fllor cause that's just stupid" hahahha SOLD i am subscribing this guy's hilarious.

  • @CarlyAnnOfficial

    Bahaha, well thank you :)

  • THX DUDE!!!!!! This a gymnast tlking also....

  • im 12 I cant do this lol , i can go into a bridge , Cant kickover .. I know i dont sound skilled cause im not :D But i wanna learn this realllly Bad ! YOur advice was GREAT But im too scared to go back with my hands and even if i have a spotter i still dont feel comfortable :S PLEASE HELP !

  • How would you practice this on a trampoline?

  • Can you practice this on a trampoline?

  • I already have had mine for a while, & just got my tuck. But I watched this anyway, and you give great advice!

  • I love this vid helped alot. I hav my backhandspring on trampoline but I have a habit of undercutting. This helped me get outta the habit. I showed my coach the vid & she said wen I feel comfortable 2 try this by myself in my backyard. Cnt wait 4 tht day!!! :D

  • you have to ARCH! lol

    good video though

  • Ok I'm a really beginner I can do a back bend but not a walk over I have never done this I'm scared but want to do u it I'm ten years old and I need advice please help

  • @navarox34 Same , like i can go back into a backbend but im Too scared to go back into the handspring

  • do you have to be strong and flexible? Also.. where's a good place to practice?

  • Do not jump up . If you jump up you will kill yourself :) haha

  • So i fully understand all the steps... but i am to scared to do it, any tips on getting over my fear, I know i can do it if i would just tryy

  • @arizonababygurl99 What i did was practiced doing backwalk overs. ( slower version of back handspring) and then practice just falling on a soft surface.. Its kinda like ripping off a bandaid , your cant think about it too much , you prep and then just go into it :) let me know if this helps
