  • Vortec engines came out in 1996 for Chevy trucks,1988-1995 ran TBI engines. This commercial is not from 1988.

  • did they have the vortex in 88 i thought it was 96 or something when it came out

  • its an 88, they had the squared off grille till 90, ive got an 89 and my buddy has a 91, its an 88

  • looks like an 88 to me. and somebody please explain to me the vortec 4.3 thing in 1996 with the GMC half tons. thank you.

  • Nice training wheels at 0:09

  • look at ferds newest V6 with"ecoboost" looks like they took notes out of the chevy book...

  • i must say Ford + Chevy - Government motors = great american success, no reason for 2 american companys to fight each other. because regardless who wins the battle foreign is winning the war -_-

  • Chevy trucks were great for running to the store to get groceries. Obviously for real work everyone bought Fords. That was in the 80's and 90's however. Today all regular trucks are urban cowboy trucks.

  • Correction. This is NOT an '88 Chevrolet. This is a '98 Chevrolet Pickup, when they changed the body style. Nice effort though.

  • @TheMrWolfgang um what are you talking about? This truck isn't a 98 it's an 88 @ 0:23 seconds it even says 1988 at the bottom of the commercial. Not to mention they are comparing an old style f-150 from the model years of 87-91.

  • @TheMrWolfgang The truck is an 88, look at a 98, big diffrence, look at 25 seconds, its says by june 88

  • @cpcool3 i know it says 1988 commercial lol

  • Says "Jan. 11, 1998." You people need glasses and knowledge of vehicles.

  • @cpcool3 actually it says jan 11 1998 at 26 seconds

  • @cpcool3 but it says vortec they didnt put vortec in till 95

  • @wtl1964 Wrong. I just looked it up myself. Vortec is a trademarked name for a line of piston engines for General Motors trucks. The name first appeared in 1988 on a 4.3 L V6 that used "vortex technology" to create a vortex inside the combustion chamber, creating a better air/fuel mix. It first appeared here, in this truck.

  • @cpcool3 o vortex ya but vortec didnt come till 95 with the vortec heads and cam

  • @wtl1964 Vortex is Vortec And it was first in 1988

  • @cpcool3 They didnt have vortechs in 88

  • @TheMrWolfgang it dsyd in the video 1988

  • @revchev311 it says jan 11 1998

  • @TheMrWolfgang well your dumb, the 98 has signal lights beside the head lights the height of the gril and there is 2 long skinny head lights clearly this isnt a 98

  • @theboredredneck It's a damn Cheyenne, not a Silverado. Lol

  • @TheMrWolfgang same basic truck just a different name on the ownership

  • @TheMrWolfgang lol don't you love when stupid punks try to show people up and fail miserably like this jackass did? XD

  • @stratboy1972 It's annoying, but obviously this guy doesn't know the difference between a Cheyenne and a Silverado. Bet he never knew they made two different trucks. Lol

  • @TheMrWolfgang wow...you obviously cant read...

  • @TheMrWolfgang and this is an 88 chevy, cause in 98 they didnt have the big single square head lights

  • @TheMrWolfgang You don't know your Chevy's very well. Thats for damn sure. They were redesigned for '88, and retained that basic styling through the '98 model year. You should compare the front grill of an '88 to a '98. Same basic shape, but the similarities between the two end there. '88 was the first year of production for the 4.3 v6, which is why they mention it here. I'm also sure you failed to notice the print on the bottom of the screen, Chevy had a 4 speed auto, where the Ford had a...

  • @madtownmadman ...3 speed. Do you think Ford would have the "best selling truck" through the nineties, if they still weren't offering overdrive transmissions in their trucks in '98? By then, 4 speed autos were already giving way to 5 speeds.

  • @TheMrWolfgang dont talk if you dont know your shit man 98' looks way different than this

  • @TheMrWolfgang Nothing like making yourself look like a complete dumb fuck in front of 32,218 people.

  • @PD3303 Are you thirsty for a nice glass of shut the fuck up?

  • @PD3303 Cause just in case you were wondering. I am pretty sure we all figured this out nearly a year ago you needle neckin inbred retard. Everyone makes mistakes, and this is the internet, get a life.

  • @TheMrWolfgang Just because you were a dumb fuck a year ago doesn't mean you're magically a genius now. I must have done something right, as I made you sign on to reply to me =)

  • @PD3303 I didn't say I was, I'm auto-signed in. Why are you still blabbering?

  • ...sadly my 81 c-10 was wrecked, chassis twisted motor mount broke off and my 350 still turns over

    chevy's never die

  • A Chevy can run bad longer than most other trucks will run at all!

  • friends shop trucks a chevy

EVERYTHING is dead but the engine and the very basics... and it soulds like ass, still goin... but eeek!

    360,XXX....

  • Everything dead but the engine and basics? Yea, sounds like a Chevy.

My uncle's 2000 F150 is at 415,000, and everything works as it should... The 5 speed transmission was replaced for the first time ever at 390,000. The truck is still daily driven 230 miles a day, 5 days a week. Engine (4.2 V6) has never been touched.

I do have an '89 1500 Chevy truck with over 300,000 on it, but it's burning 20w50 like crazy. Truck runs decent enough though, I guess.

  • @MavDude Yeah I have a 94 Silverado with 546502165411 miles on it. It still runs great. I drive it 60000 miles a day everyday. Go jerk off ford somewhere else jackass.

  • @lynxfootball4life That's nice. My '89 Silverado has thrown a rod through the block since I made that last post. To the scrap yard it goes, while my Ford continues to run flawlessly...

  • @MavDude I had a ford that had 3 miles on it and the heads cracked. I then had to park it in your ass.

  • @MavDude On top of that, look at all of your videos. You clearly treat the Chevy like shit. Shitheel.

  • @MavDude Hmm you both seem to be truck bashers. I like both Ford and Chevy but I have to say, my Ford requires much more maintenence and is much more expensive to maintain than the Chevy. Not to mention my Ranger gets worse gas mileage than a Silverado 1500

  • @MavDude you have to realize that those trucks are 11 years apart in technology. And the Ford obviously is on the freeway at low revs everyday. I'm truly surprised that a Ford lasted for that high of miles, nothing against Ford, but I typically see them getting worked harder and worn out faster. I've got a friend with a 1991 Silverado with 385,000 niles on it and he's just replacing the 350 Vortec. I take meticulous care of my cars and my '93 F-150r has already fattened a cam at 105,000 miles

  • @stratboy1972 My Chevy was owned by an old man since new. It was never worked hard. There is not a whole hell of a lot of technological difference between the two mechanically. The F150 has seen far more severe use, and is still literally running great, currently at 457,000 miles. The Chevy is probably a refrigerator by now.

  • @MavDude Honestly, I say the comparison with Ford and Chevy trucks is apples to apples. They're both just as good. The competition right now is down to the slimmest of margins in which are better. For styling I would always chose Chevy hands down, sans the 2008 model trucks. They're both quite capable, and I've owned and loved both. I don't see why everyone needs to fight over them, good American trucks are good American trucks. I do have to say though, Chevy dominates Ford in the car market.

  • Haha Ford sucks

  • its a 1991 because of the mirror on the suburban behind it

  • i like the chevy suburban in the backround

  • yea it is 88 was first year they changed the body style

  • yeah 1988 to 1998 is the best body style of any truck ever i think, starting to look out dated now tho since all the truck companys have switched to bigger styles

  • Thats not a 88

  • yah it is thats when they started makin them look like that

  • it says 1988 in small print if u pause at 25 seconds

  • how much is the difference in power between the 91 4.3 v6 and the 5.0l v8 ???

  • thanks for all the comments please check out some of my other car vidoes

    and please subscribe

    thanks

  • doubt it. buddy has one with more than a million. 4.3 is the way to go

  • I would take a ford 300 I6 over a chevy 4.3 anyday. No doubt the chevy is a good powerplant, but it cant compare with the low end torque, towing power, and durability of an I6.

  • just curious have you ever had a 4.3? I know the 300 is good but those 4.3's are all of what you mentioned.

  • Yes, it's good engine but it doesn't have much go below 2000 RPM

  • yeah, BS. my 89 TBI will peel tires at 1800. and go any where/pull any thing/climb any hill etc. plus, the f***** idles at 460 RPM. hardly even sips the gas. Shifts between 16 and 1800. easily get 35 mpgs highway. or i can floor it, do 0-60 in 9 secs, peel tires 30 ft, jump the tach to red live, and watch the gas guage drop a quarter of a tank...

  • shoot u got that raht. my 98 BBT will jump from a flip stop into 3rd with my spickler shifter in full low 4th while spinning and shifting the yokle up to a mid-snickle gear spackler. man you can hear that nuckle bucket whining clean across town!!!!!

  • i doubt theyve ever owned a 4.3 just by lookin at wat they said, those 4.3s are badass engines and are tanks, mine started rite up after tha front clip was completely smashed

  • hey what can i say

    chevorlets never die

  • I agree, chevys never die!!

    Love my chevys!!

  • vortec V6???? vortec didnt come out till 91/92 for v6 and 96 for v8

  • vortec heads came out in 1987 for the 4.3 liter

  • that's what i thought, but hit pause at 0:25 and read the bottom line. January 11, 1988. you might not be able to see it. i'm looking at it with a 42" monitor

  • it need to be american trucks vs. foreing trucks.

  • Of course the 4 speed automatic is going to be a big advantage over the ford's 3, but whatever. I like both.

  • your darn right chevy power
