Been playing boom chuck style for long time... always trying to add a little more to make it sound like you did... very good succeeding where so many others don't...
At 5:00 Marty say ' If you have a free finger, just add it somewhere and see what it sounds like'....love the man. Would really love to shake his hand someday. Cheers!!!
hey i have a big question....... marty if u are reading this please do reply.
in the chord progression which u just showed which was Gmaj Cmajo and D major.. u squeezed in a Emin pentatonic scale.. which brings me to my question which is where exactly do we fit a major scale and where do we fit a pantatonic scale.. would it sound good if i tried the same progression on g major scale as well? please do reply
Pretty Cool lesson here, Covers the topic quite well. Ive just made a bunch of detailed courses for beginners and advanced guitarists that you might be interested in. Check it out! would love to know what you and anyone watching this video thinks. Its totally free, and i mean TOTALLY
Thank you very much I respect you as a teacher I am today, one I learned to play guitar from a video of you and I have developed skills up another level because you teach very well understandable. Thanks again.

Marty is King. Man, I hope he´s making money on this. (btw...its not THAT hard to make shit like this sound great...on a guitar like THAT, is it? ;-) Taylor rules. And the King knows how to wield his weapon...)
Bottom line: This man is a born teacher. Personality, humour and skill. Mix with internet and you make hundreds of thousands of people happy. Instant karma. You´ll go straight to heaven, man.
@blurrillaz Thanks for your great comment! Well, "personality, humour and skill". When you come across those, you should be grateful. And so I am. And I´m not afraid to show it. But then again, how would you ever know those, my friend? You should hang loose there, man. Enjoy life. It´s much too short to harass people on the internet, right? Get some good out of it...listen to Marty, play well. Now, you are allowed one more go at me...and then, please, for all of us, just...disappear, ok?
@ColJedburgh gee you read into comments quite a bit. i appreciate this guy; he gives a great lesson. but trolling for thumbs by going over the top praising someone is bizarre and irritating.

Hey Marty! My name is Zach.. Ive been playing guitar for about 6 months now.. Just wanted to say that Ive learned so much from watching your videos. I like the fact that you are chill and want to teach people about music. 6 months ago was the first time i ever pciked up a guitar and its been a hell of of ride so far haha. Keep it up man! Peace.
I just ordered my first guitar yesterday, and can't wait to hit the ground running. I like your style of teaching and music. I'm deployed so didn't want to spend a whole bunch on a guitar getting sent out here, but I orderd the Yamaha f-310 as my first starter. Listening to people like you and others play is my inspiration to learn. Thanks for the free lessons, and God bless.
i got my guitar for christmas, i've been playing my brothers for about two months before hand, i can play all the chords at the top of the neck, i can only bar a few. i can do the g pant. scale and the "dreaded" hammer on pull off. it's not really hard but i was just wondering is that basic for playing for about 2 or 3 months or is that above avg. i guess you could say i'm musicly talented aswell b/c i can play the piano too. please let me know thanks in advance
Who are the 28 douchebags who disliked this? Seriously, I really don't understand how you can not like someone teaching people how to play guitars parts for free? Can anyone explain this to me?
@twst1 "I'm twst1, I know the A minor pentatonic scale, and if anyone does anything more complicated, it has no soul." That's basically what your comment implies.
@qwertyuiop46853 gee, sorry that was the implication you got out of my comment. I was more or less trying to illustrate that those who bash this kind of playing are usually, IMO, more concerned with speed and dexterity and acrobatics then soul. Sorry for the confusion
@twst1 You get used to that type of comments when you become fast and dexterious, it's sad when people don't realize that playing fast isn't necessarily soul-less ._. Neoclassical shred can be very melodic and soulful, it all depends on the player. Take canon rock for example, that's some good soulful shred!
@IndecentClown I think this kind of people have got brains enough just to push button "unlike" and sometimes to write crazy comments... and they're doing it without thinking, just to be in the minority part of the same stupid people and to proud it. F*ck'em off man!)

@mrhonkee You, sir, make me laugh, a sedate kitten is more of a threat than that. The day you post a more impressive lesson than this, Is the day I shall think about respecting you and your earlier post complaining about the standard of this video.
@MyMyMyAccount well I'm glad I make you laugh my little friend but to be honest I'm not too concerned about your opinion and I think I'd be more interested in jerking off with sandpaper than impressing you or earning your respect.............
@mrhonkee why doesn't it surprise me that you would make a joke of that manner? No doubt a good representation of the vacuous (you'd better use google to help define that one, I realise it's probably a little out of your league) person you are letting yourself out to be. And STILL, you haven't answered the question, what do you actually think is wrong with this video? Since you started off by posting what was a completely unjustified derogatory statement.
Hey buddy, I just wanted to personally thank you for all your help. I have been checking out your vidz. and you guys are my only teachers. I think music should be shared and for you guys to give away so much great technique and exercises for just anyone to learn and apply is just a blessing. thank you very much Marty, hope you guys do this for a very long time to come.
PS if your in Southern California I would love to meet you and take private lessons.
i,ve seen a lot of your bleus vids, but when i saw the one that whas extaly that basic of bleus, i went insane. and this video... i already did liked your bleus and cowboy style, but now thats the only thing i want to play! im now playing for 4 months and compared to other guys that play guitar,(for 4 months) im realy good.
but the thanx is going to you, i,ve learned everything from you!
Hey, thanks a ton. This is the first of your videos that I've watched but I'll be watching more. My only criticism on this one is that I could have used a little more info on what your picking hand was doing. I think this is just my personal problem as my picking is definitely my weak point. Anyway, lots of good info that I can't wait to put to use.
If anyone can tell me what kind of guitar he's playing here it would be much appreciated

<-- is trying vainly to keep up! You make it look so easy. I am going to get the hang of this instrument sooner or later.

Hey Man Nice sound of your Taylor Guitar, and a very nice video.
I learned something that not only sounds great but very well explained and thanks a ton for sharing with us.

Very helpful for beginners. Thanks :-) .
By the way, do you mind telling me for how long you play the guitar?

Thanks Marty. For some reason that lesson tied a bunch of random strings together for me. Appreciate it!
Cheers,
