I'm looking for the performance gain factor for this device. You've shown how long it takes for your system and compared it to real time, but what did your Mac do it in without the device?
I have a 1.6GHz Core 2 and I did a standard def 3 min conversion to ipod in 3.5 min, if I had a Turbo .264HD plugged in, what sort of speed up might I get, 2x, 3x, 5x?
This device is more for machines that are not as fast, so you should see better times then I would. Where as say a fast mac pro really would not benefit from it at all in most cases.
I can not say just how much faster it would be, but certainly if your on a 1.6GHz machine it will greatly benefit from this device to encode with.
I've just read a review on the Turbo HD and apparently it relies heavily on the Mac processor for pre-processing purposes, so the faster the Mac the better the performance. Hmmmm may have to invest some hard cash, I do a lot of transcoding - maybe a 3.33GHz iMac + Turbo HD.
to you get any software like this if you buy the HDPVR

while it takes advantage of your cpu it still uses it's own hardware encoders thats where the true power of the device is at.
