1) The *police* are the ones who actually come and answer the 911 calls

this show has to be fake. i just noticed something. officer hunter says the car is in the number 5 lane. the mini cooper was not in the 5 lane. it was in the number 1 lane. i think a real chp officer would know the difference between the first and 5th lane. also, the 73 is not a 5 lane highway. furthermore, look how crowded the freeway is in the video. the 73 is a toll road and toll roads do not get nearly as crowded as it is in the video!

You notice for the TV show, the officers act real nice and polite when on camera. But when there are no cameras they will approach the car and talk down to you very rudely and make you feel like you don't deserve to drive... or even live for that matter. I have nothing against cops or anything, but it's true.

This makes it seem as though all they do is give out speeding tickets.Everyone exceeds the speed limits one way or another. Including the CHP guys. The job is a lot more than that. It's saving lives & property. BTW, why do violators have to sign the ticket? I know it is a promise to appear but why have them sign it? Just check off in a box "court appearance required?" You ORDER THEM to appear. NOT have THEM PROMISE. Its a lot easier & less hassle. Can some CHP guy answer that one?

I'm no CHP guy, but when you're stopped you are under arrest. They are releasing on you on your own recognizance because you are promising to appear. Failure to sign would cause you to be jailed until your court date.

Only a judge can order someone to appear before them (via a warrant).

In NJ & most states all the cops do is cite the driver & let 'em go. No violator signature is necessary. If a court appearance is required for certain violations, the cop just checks off a box on the ticket that says 'court apearance required'. Its unnecessary to have drivers sign the ticket when it is not required in other states to do the same. To put a guy in jail for a few miles over limit cause he wont sign seems to me to be a waste of valuable police resources & time.

Cars where I live drive way too fast and I don't often see police on the highways (provincial, I'm in Canada) They always make a point of being high profile on long weekends but people are being killed almost on a weekly basis. People are at LEAST 15-20km over the limit and no one gets stopped. Sorry, don't know the conversion to MPH.

You can still kill someone while going the speed limit if you hit them going 10+ the limit wont make a difference. I think that awareness is more important than just judging someone by speed. We owe law enforcement? thats THEIR JOB they get paid for it, they get special benefits because of it IE: no tickets, discounts, turning on their sirens and passing red lights when theres no emergency.

The reality is that driving too fast is dangerous. However, I know people who have been given tickets for 6 miles over the speed limit, and that is 6 miles over in a 55mph zone, not a school zone. That is pure money making! It happens though.

Thus they have incentive to create & enforce petty or nuisance "laws" that are easy to ticket.
