@chazannarino You can just ask for an initiation from distance. Some Reiki Teachers do that, and it's the same effective as an attunement in person.

@debraange it's a japanese healing art that comes from Shinto, the Japanese religion, and is linked to Buddhism from there. Buddhism is a philosophy first and foremost, not generally a "religion" It's a way to make this crappy ole world seem a little more tolerable, and maybe erase the past misdeeds of our life through corrective thinking and action.

Consider this.The woman in this video is non threatening,calm and fluid.She would be considered relaxing to most people.If you were to close your eyes and relax.Allow her to place her hands on your head,shoulders,back etc while you void your mind of thought and relaxed,in this state of deep relaxation you would be relieved of stress and excellerated regenerating of your cells takes place.Mental,emotional and physical healing takes place when you relax.Your being healed reiki or not.

The amazing Randi conducted a study of energy healers claiming to be able to detect auras etc. Holding his hand underneath a blind testing apparatus and the the healer holding their hand above his. Attempting to "detect" his aura. They failed on virtually every occasion and those times that were successful were nothing more than statistical chance.

Its a crock!!

@roquefortfiles first of all, a power plant creates and "manipulates" electricity. Which cannot be seen, or smelled, only the side effects can be experienced. Any good electrician can give you soem of the side efrects and ways to measure them, but cannot clearly define what electricity is!Even an elementary student knows everything is made of atoms, which always contain electrical charge.

What is ridiiculous is someone with know degree of knowledge attempting to talk about a subject...

James Randi claimed scientific studies on Reiki yielded no measurable results of efficacy. I tend to agree with him. How on earth can you "Influence" something by having no contact with it? It is in the same league as Uri Geller bending spoons. I have heard stories of Reiki practitioners doing this over the phone!! Its quackery!!
