I had a '74 Nova Custom Coupe. It weighed 2788 with 3/4 tank of gas and a full size spare tire, and it weighed 2961 with me in it. That isn't exactly heavy unless your comparing it to a Mazda Miata or a Lotus Elise.

Mine was also pretty gutted (ie no radio, no ac, racing buckets, no backseat,etc, etc). I kept the spare in the car cause you never know when your gonna get a flat on these crappy WI roads. At the track I'd take it out though.
