People get confused when they hear "monoxide" they think of a deadly chemical like carbon monoxide. Aha I wonder how so many people fall for this. The prefixs are di meaning 2 and mono meaning one. Hydrogen equals hydrogen amd oxide is another way of say oxygen (well multiple particles I believe) H2 equals hydrogen; O equals oxygen and because of the type of chemical bond you use the prefixes which makes it become dihydrogen monoxide :)
