  • Dear Lord... this is painful to sit through. Ugh.

  • press 2, 4 and then 7

  • Great review

  • Thanks buddy, this video was exactly what I was looking for - to find out how to use this thing before buying it.

I have a question - Does it work when it gets wet though?

  • @Mark1Mach2 Yes. The fire steel is an all condition full proof fire starter. When dry or wet, it lights.

  • uhhh

  • uh yeah umm...

  • that lit on the second strike, not first

I had to sit thru 3 minutes of rambling to actually see how it works. this could have been 3 minutes shorter.

  • he starts the fire at 2:55 , cut to the chase :P

  • @JusticeEmu THANK YOU!

  • I just wanted to say thanks! I just got one as a "test product but it was labeled as a magnesium firestarter, NOT! Spent an hour yesterday, using their instructions only to walk away with a serious attitude. You made it so simple and I've got it down=pat now. Thanks again!!!

  • I bought one for 6p off Ebay. Sniped! ;)

  • skip to 2:49 to save your time, so you dont have to deal with all this bull shit! tip of edvice speak in straight sentences!

  • @DarkDreamer2426

"tip of edvice speak in straight sentences!"

Tip of ADVICE, learn to spell!

  • i upgraded mine to white 550 paracord

  • i wonder if i could light my bowl with this

  • Poor guy was probably nervous as hell and wasn't rehearsed in the whole thing. :D Either way, thanks for this video. I always wanted to know how to work one of these and you have a really great tip here with the dryer lint as some starter. Personally I always keep like some bits of burlap and other easily combust stuff in a double ziplock bag with my camp kit. Good video, don't be so nervous next time! :D

  • why does every white guy LOVE walmart? fuckin weirdos

  • well who dosnt say uh and um alot any way? D: i always used to say um and uh alot when i gave presentations and shet makeing a video is no diferant = w= some people just stumble on words ocationaly and will catch them selves with um unlike talking when talking yull stumble on words cuz ur not rehersed with un known situations with random topics and blah blah blah = w= annoying comments of uh and um kthnxbai

  • Good tip using the dryer lint easy to get hold of and usualy plenty of it. But iv found if you use the back of your knife blade (roughed up) you get a better shower of sparks rather than the piece of tin supplied. Nice how too vid tho

  • omg i just got one for christmas

  • i get mine $2 and the bigger one $4

  • Damn! And think of all the dryer lint I've tossed over the years. Good idea, bro!

  • dryer lint? That's a very useful tip, I would never have thought of that.

Does belly button lint work as well?

  • i just tryed this "dust" from my dryermachine......and that works VERY well. now i know where im gonna put that "dust" when i clean my dryer.....in a bag and put in my pack....thats for sure...thanks for the tip man

  • "Swedish Firesteel" sounds like a dirty sex-move or a male european porn star...

  • I like my Firesteel Ranger...

  • 3 min vid in 5 seconds.... put stick to steel... drag stick ...FIRE

  • i got mine at ebay for $2.50 free shipping

  • And uh but uh think uh you are a nub ha?

  • This isn't actually the technique. The trick is to shave a small pile of flint off first into your tinder using the edge of the striker. Once you've got many shavings in the tinder, than you strike with the serrated edge igniting the small pile of shavings sitting ontop of the tinder which will at once start most flammable things on fire.

  • dryer lint works really great for tinder, one of my dad's friends told me this which is true because i tested it

  • nice vid i talk about you in my vid

  • I have the same thing but they call it the "swiss" fire starter. Also good thing u used dryer lint in the video it is the best free thing you can get for tinder

  • real test is to try to light a paper napkin from the roll. not the fast food ones. they take a hotter spark to light.

  • 2:28 " It lit rit it rite up"

  • You're right, this is a great gift! Also, dryer lint is one of those awesome things people overlook but can be incredibly useful in the outdoors. Glad you brought it up. Les on Survivor Man also showed that you can pinch at your COTTON socks for a ball of lint if you really need to.

  • Awesome review brother, keep up the good work and sharing the passion for the outdoors. Some other great tinder to start with this firesteel is dried/ rolled strips of tulip poplar bark or cotton balls (with or without the vaseline)... I HAVE found, however that the dryer lint is actually THE best with this firesteel., plus it's free and plentiful. I use the Army model which has the black handle as you mentioned; has 12,000 strikes.

  • screw getting a firesteel, i want that dog!

  • thanks i have one i have the black one i didn't know that dryer lint works so thank i was use the store tinder and it was a pain going to the store every time i go camping now i just go to the dyer so thank man Ur the best grate video

  • I might get one from ThinkGeek. Maybe Bass Pro Shops if cheaper

  • I've tried dryer lint and found it to be good.

Also, Purell lights very easily, as long as you've kept it in your pocket so it's warm.

  • This video was about 3 minutes and 50 seconds longer than it needed to be

  • There are many less expensive firesteels on the market :-)

  • its not black paint, its the steel reacting with the air. quite interesting actually.

  • i like using cotton wool on mine

  • Uhh... what did he say?

  • black handle ones are "army" there bigger and last more strikes

  • I dare somebody to count the number of times he says "um or uh"

  • I just use my zippo.. but i guess these are good cause if u get a zippo wet or it runs outta fuel ur fucked

  • Thanks for the tinder suggestion

  • where did they buy that?

  • If it's not a problem, can you measure the length of the rod alone on Scout Firesteel and let me know.

    Thanks.

  • Dude!!!! you say ( Aaaahhh ) like 100 times in this video!!! Well I stop counting so it might even be more but if you want to make your videos more interesting you need to keep that AAAhhh under control

  • would this work if I used anything else instead of the steel thing? like keys or something???

  • yeap, you can pretty much use anything metal with a pointed edge...back end of a knife and nail file works good.

  • you say uh too much xD but other than that Awsome vid 5****

  • Thanks! I just got one, and I was definitely using it wrong. Great video!

  • you are fucking retarded. and you got it as a gift and have been waiting forever? its 8 to 10 bucks go get it yourself

  • i'd have to totally agree, 8-10 bucks for a christmas present? talk about cheap lol. good video though.

  • I ben trying to get one for a long time now I now :-)

  • thanks for sharing!

  • lmao stop saying uh xD but nice video

  • not realy a kit but a great vid

  • Nice, thanks for sharing!

  • good vid man. just got mine today

  • that is the worst type ur using

  • uhh errrr ohhmmmmm um

  • You say uh and um a lot still GREAT VIDEO

  • @LordDraconical you really have to be an asshole like that?

  • could i get one at a modells or dicks or any sporting goods store?

  • Unnecessarily long-winded video is unnecessarily long-winded.

  • dog win

  • second strike

  • its also a good idea to learn how to use/make naurally derived tinder, because dryer lint does run out fast

  • haha op, theres my dog. good idea with dryer lint

  • good video i have this one with a oak handle.

  • tumble dryer lint! Why didn't I think of that!

    awesome thanks.

  • haha i also got a new fourwheeler and racing kit... so i cant complain lol

  • o taths so cool !i also got a firesteel my handel is green but its not a saw striker ?

  • @HobbitAssasin08 hey i talk about you in my vid

  • @19cleveland95 you know that some parents do buy more than one presant

  • it looks like u like outdoorsy things i don't no if you every heard about a fire piston but if u havent look em up on youtube they expensive and u can make them yourself so yea i want one but they extremly expensive
