  • HUHHHH...HOW DOES THIS EXIST...???

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICK!!!

  • Anyone know why Joe gave the 'Bras d'honneur' (arm of honor) to the crowd at the end of the show? Maybe the gesture means something else in Japan, but it's a 'fuck you' in many parts of the world.. haha. Anyone?

  • @whateveritsnoyes

looking at the frame where the video freezes, his palm is open. if he was giving the 'arm of honour' (love the expression) his fist would be closed, right? i reckon, and i have no idea for sure, he was flicking something into the crowd...

  • @stpauligooner - yeah palm open, so it's not technically the Bras d'honneur. Maybe he did throw a pick or something into the air. Nevertheless, Tokyo 1982.. what a show.

  • @whateveritsnoyes oh, i red with interest the dialogue about that "bras d'honneur" and I suppose, just my opinion, joe maybe throws the plectrum.

  • This is fucking AMAZING. R.I.P Joe <3

  • I remember Pearl Harbour and the Explosions. They were a great band. Fantastic bass player; he bounced all over the stage while playing. Too bad they didn't stay together for long. The Clash of course were wonderful. Saw them twice, once with Bo Diddley and once with the Dead Kennedy's.

I did not know that Pearl was married to Simonon until a few months ago.

  • isn't youtube great, you'd never get to see all of this footage otherwise, record companies would charge a fortune for a dvd. I mean this live clash stuff is great

  • This is the Rock the World Tour, Pearl was with them most of the Asian/North American part of the tour. This is the end of the 1st set. They usually did the three songs along with Police and Thieves.

I shot the tour when they came to NYC and Boston

  • Y'know what I've been thinking about lately? The Clash reunion tour, with Ginger of the Wildhearts "substituting" Joe. Now naturally the chances of this happening are almost zero. 0.1% possibilities, but anyway, if you haven't heard of the Wildhearts, check them out! Ginger has been the greatest rock n' roll frontman since 1992 and even though it sounds like blasphemy to ever replace Joe with anybody (even to me), I bet that Ginger, if someone, would be the man to do the job! What do you think?

  • And naturally, this post isn't to be taken dead seriously. It's just one of the many wild and rather wet dreams of mine. But believe me, Joe Strummer is my biggest hero of all time so I wouldn't imagine shoving anybody on his place. So if you decide to reply to my comment, please be creative (and feel free to share any of your ideas). This is not a troll, y'know? 8D

  • @JoesRamone Dude. Wildhearts. Thanks for the tip. Of course, going from my prior listening, the only person I'd be willing to sub in for Joe is Patti Smith...

  • Mick is sooo cute here..!

  • energy!!!!!!!!

  • In 1982 I was backstage at the Clash show at San Francisco Civic Auditorium and Pearl was sitting on Paul Simonon's lap I think they were dating at the time, it was a thrill for me at 19 to meet Joe Strummer and Paul

  • Pearl Harbours neice is my best friend

  • I have resolved for the rest of my days on earth to study quantum physics. With this knowledge, I will gain the insight to construct a time machine for the sole pupose of traveling back to 1979 and convince Mick Jones not to buy that damn stereo chorus.

  • El Clash Combo indeed. Jeez, it's December 7 and I'm watching a girl calling herself Pearl Harbour sining in Japan with a lyric that goes, "I cause more damage than an atom bomb." This is GREAT clip. When punk was fun.

  • fun, yeah fun,but iconoclastic fun...

  • gahh! Mick<3

  • :) how cute is he here!

  • Finally Topper's voice!!

  • geez I wish I were older and coulda seen them in concert... all I get is the new punk bands...

  • those new "punk" bands are not even close to this real punk bro!

  • Yeah I know... Well The Damned and The Adicts are still around...

  • @youthfulpunk15

No i think punk is not only a "youth outburst", but a way of non-conciliation with status-quo. So, it must be through all ages.

What i hate most is "angry" and "rebellious" teenagers who later compromise on their lives.

  • @pyroflag234

    and the Buzzcocks

  • this is ace, thanks for puttin it up. Pearl is simply amazing, gotta love her, and Joe bless him it's so nice to see him all smiling during Police on my back

  • haha topper sayin im sure YOU remember pearl harbour lol

  • かっこええ!

    great!

    こんなビデオがあったんですね!

i am happy to see the video!

  • AWESOME!!

  • Pearl was actually married to paul simonon at the time. I ran into her not long ago at amoeba records in L.A. and paul simonon's sister was with her so I guess they must all still be friends. they were going out that night to see mick jones new band. By the way, off stage Pearl is really shy and softspoken. she's a sweetheart. I once saw her scold Kirk Hammett at a party for not being more appriciative of his success and he agreed. he was a big fan of hers.

  • Pearl was married to Paul?...You serious?

  • Yeah, she was. she told me that when she was married to him she would actually be attacked by jealous female clash fans at shows. as I said before she's actually really shy, so I suspect being pushed and spit on wasn't a particularly pleasant experience for her.Her band Pearl Harbour and the Explosions was signed to warner bros records.

  • Thanks for the info epicmeade, woo

  • I HAVE VIDEO OF "PEARL HABOR & THE EXPLOSIONS"

    SINGING "DRIVING" fm. JAN.22,1979

  • paul was going out with her

  • I LOVE TOPPER!!!!

  • I think Mick or Paul was shagging her at the time, so they let her do a few tunes with the band..not too great.

  • Thanks for posting this! I've got her album on vinyl still, and it's one fun ride. Pearl Harbour rocks!

  • jaaj recien empieza en minuto 35 pero esta !

  • has anybody noticed that from after 1978 when ever the clash go on stage they sound like theyre pushing themselves too hard.

    great performance

  • Possibly the greatest live video I've seen on here. Topper and joe do look very happy. I reckon they were speeding or something. And pearl looks so sexy here. I'd love a chick like her. Whats her real name and where was she from? Doesn't sound english. Yum yum!

  • Before moving to the UK, changing her last name to "Harbour," and recording the album "Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost To" (recently available on iTunes!) she was Pearl Harbor and recorded an album with the San Francisco based Pearl Harbor & The Explosions. Previous to that she was Pearl E. Gates with the San Francisco band Leila & The Snakes.

  • I met Pearl recently. She works in a store on Melrose in LA. It's an antiques/collectibles store. She was a real doll, very fun to talk to. Of course she collects items related to Pearl Harbor.
