  • I agree with those science teachers. What makes truth in science more important than going to phoney wars in Iraq? Why demand someone "believe" in science when we won't demand birth control in poor nations? If there is a priority list of things we are going to force people to believe - I want to help make up that list. It is indeed a political issue not a science issue.

  • Those are science teachers? Wimps...

  • what animal is 00:12?

  • One way of interpreting life? From a science teacher thats just sad.

  • You don't believe the earth is round only if your an astronaut rofl

  • dawkins is the world's number 1 party pooper, haha

  • 08:50 is just BRILLIANT! I think I'll quote that a lot!

  • It is your job to teach science. If they don't accept it, then you are talking to a brick wall!!!!

  • I find it amazing that these random, blind and sudden mutations that occur in evolution always produce tools that improve survival.

Yes I know that they don't suddenly produce an arm, or wing and so on but whatever was before that was still useful enough.

Why do the mutations ALWAYS produce improvements? As something that's random and blind and can happen at any time it never seems to go the opposite way, or produce species that are completely deformed.

    Evolution? I don't know.

  • It doesnt always produce improvements. Hence an outstanding amount of species we only see in the fossil record because they ALL DIED! It is quite unlikely to see living failures because by default they would not be passed on to the next generation because they would be dead.

  • I'm just going by what Richard Dawkins the "scientist" was saying himself.

Tell me what are the chances of fish blindly mutating the exact tools needed to live on land over millions of years. Millions of mutations which have lead to lungs which let us breathe on land and limbs which help us move on land.

Mutations are BLIND and RANDOM and can produce ANYTHING so why do they develop the correct things nearly every time??

This is the problem I have with evolution.

  • You're not at all going by what Dawkins said, in fact, he's spent quite some time both in "The God Delusion" and in other areans debunking the "random evolution" misconception.

  • loads of fish can walk on land

  • I dont think you have a problem with evolution. I think your real problems is that you can't read and process information. You obviously failed to read and understand my previous comment, and have just reworded your nonsense.

Mutations do not, and mostly do not, produce useful yeilds most of the time. If you were to look at a species genetic code for example you can see a huge amount of junk, genes that either serve no purpose or infact hinder existence...(So if it is designed it is a poor job)

  • Even though you're being rude I'll reply to you anyway don't know why I'm bothering with people that resort to cheap insults.

Ok species die out because other species survive better it's nothing to do with species that are completely useless there ain't none that I know of. The only time that happens if say an animal is born with 3 legs instead of 4 that's just the process of passing genes onto the off spring going wrong. The existing information scrambled up the wrong way.

  • The information in our dnas are new to an evolutionist's view. Information that's been gathered over millions of years through "TRILLIONS" of blind mutations and here we are every part of our bodies functional and seem to benefit our survival very well all through total and utter blindness that's what kids are being taught are they??

Yet people who refuse to believe that are "nut cases" and "ignorant bigots" is that what you're saying??

  • Why do the mutations ALWAYS produce improvements?

They definitely don't. You weren't paying attention.

  • "species that are completely deformed"

In a sense, the world is FULL of species that are completely deformed. Elephant trunks, peacock tails...

The peacock's tail is pretty useless for flying away from tigers and such. Many do get eaten, but enough of them manage to flutter up a tree in time.

Peahens, like us, find the deformed peacock tail beautiful rather than ugly, so peacocks that manage to avoid tigers for a year get to mate.

Peacocks with REALLY huge tails will die young of course.

  • Imagine a species that's "completely deformed". Let's say it's a deer born with a genetic mutation that gives it only three legs instead of two.

But wait a minute, the three-legged baby deer keeps falling over every time it tries to stand up.

Day two: it still can't stand up to suckle. The mother deer, being a deer, can't do anything about it.

Day two: evening - baby deer's weak with hunger and dehydration. Passing wolf snacks on baby deer.

So - no "completely deformed" species of deer.

  • These are deers with scrambled up information or information missing that's the only way of creatures coming out deformed. But to produce information that's totally useless I've never seen or heard of it.

Like fish have "luckily" over millions of years gone through millions of "blind" mutations and developed the right tools to live on land!!!

Lungs and legs through "millions" of years of "blind" mutations the odds are too low to be believable sorry. Not quite convinced.

  • I am afraid you just dont comprehend. What you are thinking of is genetic instablity. I feel you believe evolution works in fast, random jumps such as you see in sci fi when someone gets dumped in toxic waste. That is not the case.

Now, i dont know if there is a point to me trying to tell you this so lets try.

Evolution = Small, gradual changes over vast periods of time

Evolution does not equal "Lets try 5 legs instead of 4! Oh and lets get a snout!"

  • @dunnonuffink "Passing wolf snaks on baby deer"

very very dark but somehow incredibly funny because it's expressed so deadpan!

I wish my biology teacher had explained natural selection like that.

  • dude, 99% mutations are bad!

  • @100pjp: odds? if the odds of millions of years of slow progression is too low, what are the odds that the entire universe and all (simple and complex) living creatures were created in an instant by an omnipotent being that transcends time and space? just curious.

  • Those teachers are complete pussies. They are scared of retribution from the violent parents, that is why they don't stand for what they believe in. It is interesting that the intelligent ones are scared of the dumb ones, because the dumb ones are much more prone to violence instead of reason to resolve their issues.

  • ROFL 8:45

  • OK. False alarm. It turns out I was just doing it wrong!! Most disappointing.

  • EXCELLENT.

    RICHARD DAWKINS is an inspiration.

  • I dont have this blind spot. Does someone else share this attribute or am I the next stage of evolution?! :)

  • I bet you have
