Great song last of the great era it reminds me when I was in Orlando Fl. in the winter of 93 listening to Bartell Bartell on 102 jams radio station wish that era came back.
This song is thee best. I could listen to it all day long and remember singing it constantly. It's so catchy.... and oh yea, I definitely remember that Family Matters episode, that's how I first heard it lol.
why oh why did this music ever have to go away!!! portrait, jodeci, boys to men, bell, biv, devoe, next, any many others the music of today cant hold a candle to these talented guys
See this is how it should be done. Nice beat, no cursing, making a point, and that is it. Today's music doesn't know how to convey with the extreme edge.
One of the greatest 90s tunes, period! I used to jam to this back in the very early 90s, rockin the rayon shirts, steel toe boots & all dat. I was in 8th or 9th grade, and no this dont make me feel old, I feel young again when I bump this track! You wont get R&B with this much flavor and soul these days, if you want it back, stop buying all that bunk shit, bring this back!
This was one of my favorite jams back then! I declare, old school jams and rap, will always out do the atrocity that has taken over in music nowadays!
Why singing groups like these guys are not around today,....perhaps it is because they do not sag their pants, use profanity to express themselves and call females (especially black women) out of their names. It is time to WAKE UP and respect ourselves and our people and our music!
This group is awesome & not to mention they are very much still in the industry. Shout out to Phillip lead singer ... my old love from Jr. High school.Pray your doing well. Tahra
Hey dienqlee If u want artist with good music like Portrait then support groups like these guys. It's up to you this is the information age, most people just listen to their local radio stations and go along with what they hear. Stop with the black card and support good underground or new acts and maybe they will have a chance to blow up.
I was on my way 2 pick up my daughter from school today, and this song jus' all of a sudden popped in my head, great memories, the 90's was on and crackn from every aspect music, movies and the quality of life.
@yungmoneyD yes, Family Matters was on when I was in high school, but [what] "Like if you remember from Family Matters?" Is that a whom as in a person, or thing or event? Don't follow your subject.
@bigmaine1995 I thought so I have their greatest hits album and in the background it do sound like "I can't help it". They did say Michael Jackson influenced the song when I was reading Portrait history on how they got started.
Let me get this straight. These, cool, talented guys never really hit it big and are now long gone; as are Jodeci, Silk, Intro, the Rude Boys, Today, Guy, New Edition including Johnny Gill, even Boys to Men! They're all basically DONE musically & can't sell SHIT! But, Lil' Wayne, Eminem, 50 cent, Jay-Z, Kanye, even Snoop Dogg, are all still going strong!
Black Folks, I know it's 'just music' but that is as good a testament to where we are as a people as anything else. WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE!
@dienglee but snoop was making albums when they were out so dont put him or jay z in that same group u should be happy at least thier in the game still
@dienglee Amen!! You are so right. I don't know what happen to the black race but it stinks. We really need to get it together. I not trying to down play us if that's what anyone is thinking who reads this but something has got to change and fast. We can't keep going like this. SMH Jesus we need you. You can come in and intervene at anytime. Have a blessed night everyone.
@dienglee YOU would be correct. Just heard Heavy D died today, along with 'Smoking Joe' Fraizer. Man. All the good ones are leaving quick, fast, and in a hurry.
@oharmon i have to agree with you on that one. my generation believes in the crappiest music and honestly i think new jack swing should make a comeback!
Shout out to my Uncle Eric Kirkland @ 00:46, me and lil sis went to school braggin' like hell when you and the fellas were on that episode of Family Matters...LOLOL
Well dayum is it just me or was Portrait one of the sexiest 90's groups of all time? Lol, I guess I didn't really notice back then but I sure notice now! Thanks for the vid!
im pretty sure ive played this song for like 5 days straight!!! this is definitely real r&b....mood music!! i remember when i first heard this song when i was in the 3rd grade...im 26 now and listening to it reminds me of then, no bills, no stress, no obligations!!!! just living life, enjoying the clear and beautiful sunny days!!!!
I love the interactions of the couples. It reminds of how couples used to actually kick it which is how my husband and I were. JUST FRIENDS and now we are going on 17 years strong. I pray that for other couples...
I like this song a lot but it's not real R&B. Real R&B died with the advent of the drum machine. This is simply pop music. Heavy on the synthesizer, lots of overdubbing, and drum machine rhythms. Again, it's a great song but once you take the drummer out of the drumming it loses it's soul.
Man i miss this kind of music. I was in like 3rd grade when this song came out and my brother use to play this song in his car when i would ride with him. The 90's was the shit.
@musiclover77able Actually, I meant to say high school years lol. Few years off. Yup Stand up! Whoop Whoop! I was blasting this in the car again recently, can't get enough of this.

@Turmarick music has changed as well as taste. and i think the general population has grown lazy, complacent and truly enjoy being spoon fed music that has been sampled, recycled, copped and screwed accompanied by an artist with little or no talent with the exception of grinding their pelvises to a mindless beat.
@chyman I seriously, seriously agree with you 100% it's disgusting. I missed this era seriously. I won't be ashamed to admit it and I'm a dude, I cry when I hear this music, I grew up listening to these artists. It reminds me of my high school years.
@Turmarick ...cause the younger generations aren't being raised in church. that's where the musical foundation came from. now nobody believes in anything any more. just being honest, cause i'm far from an advocate for organized religion, but truthfully the church had given Black ppl structure in many ways.
Dat song is indeed one of my favorites. It would work perfect if it was played @ a club on a Friday night right when a guy's eyin a gal... u know ya both just got eachother's attention & the conversation begins.
When music had meaning and made you want to dance... yes.. actually dance not grind

@Turmarick An instantly recognizable classic even when it was new. Why? You could be on to something my friend...this was timeless
