  • Rule britannia!

  • INDEPEDENCE FOR QUEBEC NOW

  • Oh silly me it was Quebec.

  • Sorry, I can't seem to figure out - what city are they attacking in this part of the clip? What is the name of the documentary you are using here? I cannot find it anywhere. I try to do research on this era but I cannot find a lot of sources. thanks!

  • @MigratoryEagle this was Louisbourg on Ile Royal , Unamagi to the aboriginal , Present day Cape Breton .

  • @MigratoryEagle The documentary is Canada: A People's History, the beseiged city is Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

  • @Studley1Doright I agree. We are receiving so many indirect signs that we need to stand together and protect our culture and most importantly our future. North America is in for a major face lift soon enough

  • @Studley1Doright

Oh and also, as a proud canadian, not French or English, but who is extremely fluent in both our official languages, I have to say that you have a rather backward way of thinking. You should realise that we live in the 21st century. As someone who greatly values the rich and beautiful heritage that both the French and English colonisers left behind, I'm saddened to call you a compatriot.

  • @Studley1Doright

Which part of Canada you're from?? Of what Pakistani and Chinese colonisation (note the British "s" in my colonisation and the U.S "z" in yours, it seems you've been colonised by our neighbours to the south) you speak? I'm not quite sure as even in the multicultural city of Toronto, I am not witnessing this imaginery colonisation of yours.

  • @keepingcommandments Oh..your history CV about the french doesn't go further than WW2? Ah that's why you think the british army has far more experience than the french one. And even that notion is stupid. you can't compare present time army experience and size with what happened in the past. Hey why don't you go back playing video games you 14 years old.

  • @Studley1Doright

We are all brothers from Europe and we have too unite our forces !

Vive le Canada, Vive le Québec !!! au nom de notre héritage communs !

  • god i hate the english i feel so bad for the irish and the french its not fair those rotten bastards could do this deed

  • @Patriote17 vive le quebec english go home

  • @MrBillcale how many English people live in Quebec? Certainly not as many as French live in England. I don't want teh French to go home, they have a right to be here.

  • I dont know for you, but I really dont give a f*** of what happens 250 years ago. Right now I am free and I can do whatever I want, and im happy. We all that in the end of day, history and patriotism are just so fake... The old world is changing now, lets not beeing too attatch of those things of the past...

  • @Studley1Doright u deserve it. I hope the anglos pay for what they did in my country Malaysia. You people brought all the Chinese into our country, so its Karma.

  • all this is based on ancient political systems and values...people refuse evolution they prefer dogma..what is going to happen??independant quebec?break down of u.s.a??new world order??will there be war over and over again???this system doesnt work..there is no real democracy..its a joke..i refuse that war..only cuz of a language or ''culture''...i have my own culture not the one im being told to join....blood colour is more important than skin colour....fuck religion..fuck oppression.earthfree.

  • what ships are they useing for this show??I I would like a name on that fine vessel

  • it seems as if the british are going to loose, but actually they win.

  • hoorah hoorah,3 cheers for the british grenadiers, conquerors of a quarter of the world, the biggest empire in history, dont fuck with us brits

  • @broadband01 Well today we do since you brits obviously can't even afford a dentist.

  • @stabbed22 >.> that was a dumb joke

  • @crusadermarcus Not if you ever met a Brit it isn't. I find it extremely funny, thank you for reminding me.

  • @stabbed22 im british and most of the population are rich(im in it) so they can affored dentists. They only 100 Pounds >.>

  • @crusadermarcus most of the british are not rich

  • @michaellee123123 hey, bien, la vie nous reserve des surprise!

  • What is this documentary that details the siege of Louisbourg and Quebec so well?

  • God save King George!!!!!!!! RULE BRITANNIA!

  • @michaellee123123 there weren't any. Napoleon only wanted territory. he wasn't even french to begin with, but an italian..... he was also tall. about 1,70 m tall.

  • @papajack222 the French did nothing wrong when they beheaded that impotent fool of a king, you overthrew a government that wasn't supporting the needs of your people not much different than our revolution against the British empire

  • @markmason1000 humm, actually, i'm french-canadian...we didn't behead anybody. and i get it you're american?(or from some other nation that ovetrhew the british, or tried..... there'a quite a lot out there!)

  • @papajack222 I mistook you for french sorry about that

  • @markmason1000 bah, no harm done! and it's hard to tell who's from where on the net, too!

  • Well, I guess that comes from messing up diplomacy: Had France not been so angry at Frederick the Great for signing the Westminster convention with her Nemesis England, the outcome of the famous Seven Years War would have been different: A French-Prussian alliance would have easily defeated an Austrian-Russian coalition and than invaded England to give the English yet another day like Duke William did at Hastings back in 1066; but so France was unable to rescue Quebec.

  • And to make it worse France opted to keep Haiti instead of getting back Quebec in the peace negotiations and has ever since done very little to aid its struggle for freedom form the English oppression but helped England to fight her detractors such as Russia or Germany (though the Germans did retake the Lorraine); and little comfort does the English stupidity bring as they have lost all their colonies: New England revolted in 1776 and Canada, Australia and New Zealand are independent now.

  • There is a tree, in Old Québec City that has grown around one of the cannonball that found it's way into the city. It's a sight to see, for everyone who plans to visit Québec. It is litterally stuck, between it's roots, and quite visible still.

  • Must feel like shit to be French, beaten so often by the British, the final insult by the Reich. German expression, "how many troops to take Paris?" Not many.

  • @skyzthelimi7 you clearly don't know history...

  • @Patriote17 Paris fell in days in WW2

  • @NuclearHoaxFuel I am not from France, I am a Quebecer. I personally do not care about ignorant who brag about nazi victory, nazi lost the war...

  • @NuclearHoaxFuel just read about Léo Major...

  • @Patriote17 What i dont understand is why french canadienes make trouble for other canadians?? France does not even support french canadians but still french canadians make trouble for other canadians instead of embracing canada. I mthought was very rude what happened in quebec when prince charles was visit there and french canadians shout abuse and go home signs to him. nither france or britain are native canadian to tell other to go home.

  • @napoleonwinner we make trouble for anyone who do not respect our nation, our language and our culture. We embrace Québec. I am natives Quebecers simply because my family lived here for 15 generations and because this family is Métis. I say Go home to British monarchy, not to English people. I personally think it was more rude when was hit by cops during that manifestation, but at least Prince Charles didn't have his welcoming party, the manifestation was a success.

  • @Patriote17 so when do british monarchy not respect canada quebec nation? Always queen elizabeth speak french in canada. please make sure not to embarrace we french in france. We embrace all nation and we are friend with British. Sarkozy has to say agin to you? stop separate canada.

  • @napoleonwinner Vive le Québec Libre!

  • @Patriote17 well said. i am an english speaking canadian and would prefer if the monarchy stayed out of this country and its affairs for good. canada isnt independant from the monarchy, a lot of people think it is but the queen still runs the show.

  • Well, actualy France may has failed at many battles i'm not denying it,but history is history and all of this was in the past now its 2010 peoples change and mentalities too so now its different if just the England would declare the war to France... you all would not even stand a chance.

  • why did the Birtish do this to the French??? And where are the mi'kmaw warriors were they in this battle? I'm studying this so be patient. This is very interesting. I live 20 minutes away from st lawrence river lol

  • @michaellee123123

    He admired Napoleon more.

  • It's only the bitter French that have the ignorance not to admire it. Although we did conquer it all from the French mostly, so it's understandable.

  • It is a great series but the narrator is a glum lass. Who is she?

  • the brits PWN all .

  • Tres bien dit

  • all i know now is that the French Government didnot care much on conquering north america which is why people in new france lost. reasons: shortage with man power, and very few reenforcement

  • Not to mentiont that Great Britain had a fine military and superior Navy. Your just a bad loser that Britain always comes ahead of France!!! Were a small Island of warriors compared to France a huge inland that couldn't compete at the end of the day

  • @WICKEDMAN85 i am indian

  • Well it may surprise you to know that Im Anglo-South African-Asian and that my mothers family suffered under aparthed in S.A. However the Empire did alot of good things aswell as bad!!! At the end of the day everybody deserves their freedom and right to govern their own destiny!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah we did bad things no doubt but hey we were the first Nation to abolish slavery and enforce it ont the worlds seas. Australia has alot of problems with racism and killing on Asian students so your far from prefect down under.

  • Comment removed

  • What ever you stupid prat. French has terible record on abuse just look at their own Empire and what they did in Africa. Britain stopped the slave trade and much more than can be said for your poor French. Your a bitter fool who can't bare the real facts. Don't talk to me again

  • I've already told you I'm not French, get it? Nor am I the one that feels self-obliged to post hate and name calling comments that waste peoples time.

  • I didn't say you were French!!! It seems that you like to compare Britain to France!! If you Irish Australian then your not prefect yourelf, hate to face the facts when your own country has its problems. Your anti British thats clear as daylight so your the one with a problem not me!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Good I feel like Im wasting my time written to some one who acts so high and mighty like yourself. If you got your facts right I was replying to all the Anti-British comments on there but you would pay attention to that. Good Bye

  • Whatever the ills of the British Empire, nothing compares with the calculated mass murder of European Jews, willingly aided by the French. Yet, this British Empire which so disgusts you, singularly had the moral fortitude to stand up to these people, as Britian could quite easily achieve favourable peace terms with Hitler and keep her Empire.

  • The reference is not regarding Nazi extermination. Re-read my comments. I'm referring to a geopolitical mentality (lebensraum) that was dominant in the 18th century but has no place in 2010.

Besides, what's the difference? It's only not comparable because the victims aren't white?

By 1939, it was more about existentialism than "moral fortitude". Chamberlain's diplomacy demonstrated the value of peace treaties to Hitler. Also, nobody knew about the final solution until later on in the war.

  • Comment removed

  • " it was more about existentialism than "moral fortitude"

Hitler never wanted to go to war with Britain in the first place, his admiration for the British Empire is well documented and it's stipulated that the evacutation of Dunkirk was allowed by Hitler in order to facilitate peace terms.

  • The difficulties of invading Britain were well known, even to Hitler. It makes sense that he would of want a passive rather than agressive neighbour.

  • Not a neighbor, but a neutralized western front. You assume too much - firstly that British autonomy would have actually been tolerated once the entire continent was subdued, and secondly that I can be baited into somehow defending Vichy France.

You're not convincing me so finish off here and we'll be done.

  • "firstly that British autonomy would have actually been tolerated"

Thats what I just said, why would Hitler want to risk a war against Britain when his aspirations were clearly to the East?

    Ever heard of Lebensraum?

  • You misread my words. Besides, this is getting old.

  • "Also, nobody knew about the final solution until later on in the war. "

Except, the French were passing anti-Jewish statutes(without prompt from the Nazis) in 1940.

"According to Marshal Philippe Pétain's chief of staff, "Germany was not at the origin of the anti-Jewish legislation of Vichy. That legislation was spontaneous and autonomous.""

  • a mort les anglais s'ortez de chez moi

  • james Wolfle rocks but he dies in the quebec last battle with a men of 8,000... but they won!
