  • Michael Copps is the man. THIS is what government should be, and what government should be doing. He is on the side of the people, and we need the FCC's involvement to defend the interests of the people.

  • copps is a great guy and a hero to all ordinary citizens.

  • Why FCC is making it sooo difficult, leave internet alone!

they are all sold out to comcast.

  • @gangupnow you obviously are not informed. The FCC is fighting the industry in order to secure Net neutrality.

  • @peacearena i thought FCC was lobbying for comcast....

  • @peacearena Only time will tell. Government regulation likes to grow. Sure, NOW it seems like they are fighting for net neutrality, but what about the next back of regulators, or the next, and the next, and the next.

If service providers try to control access to the internet, users will either use another service provider who doesn't, or Write and complain which will make the service provider change its policy which fits the needs of its customers. Much easier to change the service provider.

  • @Lastknownuser What an idyllic story. What'll really happen is, all the industry players will collude with each other to screw the consumer. (Do you have any idea what cell phone and internet service is like in the rest of the world? A whole lot faster and cheaper, that's what.) That's why we need to keep the regulation agencies in the hands of people who are on the side of the consumer, not business. Generally, that's Democrats, but lord knows they are just about as corporatist as Republicans.

  • @peacearena In an Idyllic world the governments elected by the people would represent the people... Either way, both have chances of imposing their "will" on the consumer.

  • @Lastknownuser Wishful thinking, but how many wires run to your house? Power, phone, and cable run to mine. Two can provide information. That's not a lot of choice and the perfect scenario to warrant regulation, like any other utility.
