No one sounds like Popper , I admit, but he is not arguably one of the world's greatest harp players. He can fast at will, but he is not especially melodic most of the time.
Ofcourse, music goes by taste. Not everyone likes the same music or styles. However among Jimmy Zavala, John Popper comes close to being one of "the best" - Like he says in the video, thank go there are no best players of music since music was never and should not ever be a contest. Not melodic most of the time? Dude.. get yourself a pair of ears
@MysteryHunterz That Popper mentions the idea at all is a sign that he suspects it's a proposition that is demonstrably false. Sorry, Mysty, but Popper is outclassed by too many other virtuoso diatonic players for him to even entertain the claim; he should know better.
Drop the beginning 15 seconds of the video where he is all ego. John, you live on the right half of the harp for most of your "playing". How did you get to do "instructional" videos?
At last! Some one ( who happens to be one of the best on his instrument in the world - my opinion) gives the most important reason for playing any instrument, enjoyment.
If I had listened to what those around me said when I first started playing music
I would have missed out on the best fun I could have had with my clothes on.
Musically I'm not the best at anything I do but I sure have some fun
@bluesbender69 Jason Ricci has a pretty good 3 part video on the subject. I keep going back to it. I don't think this video was aimed at anyone who really wants to "play" the harmonica, as much as someone who wants to diddy on one.
God bless ya there good man!!
