We are not trying to take away your rights since they were never given to you in the first place. You must be given something to have them taken away. Actually, you are partially correct, we would like to see the ruling overturned so in that sense we would like to take that "right" from you.

What if we meet in the middle? You can still have all the rights and benefits of Real Married couples but not the recognition as a legal marriage since it's a same sex "Union". Does that work for you?

No. Seperate but equal does not work in this country. We tried it when we discriminated against african amercians and it didn't work. Seperate but equal is unconstituitonal. If you oppose the word marriage because of it's religious connotation, I will then have to remind you about the seperation of church and state.

You can be against gay marriage. If you don't agree with gay marriage then don't get one. Preventing one group from having the EXACT SAME rights from every other citizen is unconstitutional. The constitution garuntees rights, it does not take them away. You can not agree with it and you are allowed that because this is a free country with our own free beliefs, when you take other people's rights away, that's when it is a problem.

Religion is not weilding it's influence in the matter of the second ammendment. My belief is that yes, people should be able to own a weapon if they choose to, BUT there should be regulations in tact to ensure weapons don't fall into the wrong hands, for example: minors.

I do not see how guns laws and marriage laws can be linked together.

The type of regulation I'm referencing is a type of regulation that already exists. You must be of legal age to consent to get married. Whether you are gay or straight, you have to be of legal age to consent. The same should b 4 owning a gun. You must be of legal age. This to me is a non-issue. If you don't agree with marriage equality, don't marry someone of the same sex! As a school teacher, I don't ever recall reading/citing the words.."with liberty and justice for ALL" and seeing the word, "except". Separate but equal does not, has not and should not work. We can not "eenie meenie miney moe" through our neighborhoods and point to who is allowed marriage or not. As a christian and American, I am for equality, love, and acceptance to all human life. :)
