I hope everyone understands, Muslims can pray all prayers at their homes and alone by themselves...except for the Friday prayer. It has to be done in congregation and there has to be an imam to give a sermon. That is why people drive to the mosques on Fridays......because they have to.
I am implying that other religions had their space issues on from time to time for quite many decades and always have managed to fix them without making it into a illegal public spectacle - and that there is alternative motives at play here. So, how long do this Friday prayer take? 30-40 minutes? I see an rather and logical solution right there if one have surplus prayers.

But friday prayer(Only 30 minutes at midday) is a mendatory to pray in group. We pray at the mosque but wehere there is no mosque we get together any place convenience for everyone. I think fining people who obstruct traffic etc. for whatever reason, is the more realistic option. I don't know where you're from, but massacring people is not a juridical measure in France. I would have no trouble with these gatherings on places where no people are hindered by it. Hint: there's many parks in Paris.

So if a couple thousand Seventh Day Adventists move to town and can't afford to build their own church inside or outside of town, I can't ask them to pray in their own homes and they get to take over town once a week? These people (islamists) have plenty of places of worship. They pray in the street to provoke people and confront our secular way of life. Blocking whole neighbourhoods, threatening passers-by and "infidels" who try to reach their homes. Anyhow: France have now banned mass street praying from September 16 as it violate laws regarding public street gatherings. I am all for it.

@knutgordon I totally agree that blocking streets is inappropriate....but of course not one does it to confront others, they simply do because there is not other place.
For Muslims prayer (and specially Friday prayer) is MANDATORY, that's why people pray in the streets when there is no other place.
I agree that this is unfair for the pedestrians and the people in that community, but what is needed is a some sort of accommodation (not confrontation)

Thing is that there is plenty of other places. even set a side inside the mosques. Emty bulidings for sale/lease, parks, calm areas where not much happening, and whats not. But No, these fellows - often arriving miles away to "pray" - just have to blocking busy streets, intentionally disrupting, delaying and destroying the functions of the neighborhood in a very uncooperative and confrontational way complete with own private guards and fences to keep infidels away.

I hope everyone understands, Muslims can pray all prayers at their homes and alone by themselves...except for the Friday prayer. It has to be done in congregation and there has to be an imam to give a sermon. That is why people drive to the mosques on Fridays......because they have to.

I am implying that other religions had their space issues on from time to time for quite many decades and always have managed to fix them without making it into a illegal public spectacle - and that there is alternative motives at play here. So, how long do this Friday prayer take? 30-40 minutes? I see an rather and logical solution right there if one have surplus prayers.

I have always seen this kind of muslim mass prayings intimidating and perhaps they are meant to be. If you organize submission you have to intimidate other people in order to spread submission. It is the dynamic of any totalitaristic ideology - to make an individual dissappear. In a secular society people are free to pray indoors, not to threaten others.

Allow me to counter-balance with some facts:
This is in the Goutte d'Or, more precisely on the small Rue des Poissonniers, the stretch from Rue Polonceau to Boulevard Barbès (check Google Streetview, it matches the video), right next to the Al-Fath mosque.
Local news indicate they have had to do this for 10 years because the mosque is too small, but they have an agreement with the authorities. A bigger mosque is in construction to accomodate them.

@tape991 No, its not against religion. Anyone can pray by himself alone or in a group. We pray 5 times a day regradles in a group or single. But friday prayer(Only 30 minutes at midday) is a mendatory to pray in group. We pray at the mosque but wehere there is no mosque we get together any place convenience for everyone.
