Is very nice that you are trying to give a "happy" mood to this movie, but still it's a melodrama and the song is not suitable. It shadows the theme of the movie and the feeling that the director is trying to capture.

You should check out a little known indie movie called "Shelter". It's the one happy, moderately happy gay film I can think of and it has a happy ending. You should make a video of clips from it! :)
