  • Video reminds me of The Doves, Kingdom of Rust!

Such a good band though! Epic live. Can remember seeing em in a small venue in Leeds 3 years ago. T'was mind blowing

  • 2 people are total boners.

  • Jesus, would everybody please stop comparing every band with The Verve? It's getting pretty annoying.

  • @MusicIsMyVice THE VERVE WERE A GOOD BAND...NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT..

  • @MusicIsMyVice yes, and as soon as they have some spheric guitars and a kind of rough voice, they're all U2 ... I agree, dude, I agree ...

  • @MusicIsMyVice I compare them to early Verve. "A Storm In Heaven" comes to mind.

  • I wanna have sex with his voice!

  • Just divine

  • Great song, it's been quite a long time since i heard such a good song from a 'new band'. At least they are new to me i mean. Keep it up!

  • good to see some brilliant, angry, emotional British music again

  • i remember seeing the verve in 1991 and i remember being blown away....this is how the verve could have being, but to be honest exit calm still have there own wall of sound...bands will always be compared to others...nothing wrong with that..good luck to the lads...they sound fucking awsome....

  • @lambretta186 I was just to say about how these guys reminded me of The Verve, but you said it man, both of them are legendary bands.

  • I love this song and I bought the CD. Little known here in the states. But I have passed the word out. They may have something IF they can sustain the music on the CD in the future.

  • these guys are great. great music to fall asleep to, or for when youre thinking about life...or both

  • i was at school with the bass player, so im famous by association, fuck you all, peasants

  • They've got the guitar sound, the feel of the early 90's....but they differ from Verve in that I can't hear a stirring melody here. Not bad, but not great either. I'll listen to some other tunes, maybe they'll change my mind. Or maybe I'm getting old (40). lol

  • @jenton70

40 years old? you're just a baby, I'm 60 and I dig the hell out of some of these young groups.

  • I love this sort of music but I'd agree with a few people who say it echoes some of the 80's and 90's giuitar bands....but hay what's wrong with that.

Made Me laugh when XX won the mercury prize for being err original...its plink plonk music and nearly every track on the album is similar to the last track!

  • Their influences may well be pretty bl**dy obvious, but this is a cracking good tune!

  • different! i like :) lead singer needs better haircut tho =/ lol

  • There hearts probably in the right place but it sounds like the early verve would have if they where fronted by a yank.

  • absolutely superb band, seen them live and going again, so intense!

  • a dull the verve b-side

  • Yawn - this is SO derivative

  • Going to see them on 27th November at the first Pretty Green evening..Also featuring Andy Bell...plus others;

  • This band sounds like Kasabian and a few other Uk bands!

  • sheer quality

  • The Verve? The Music? As fronted by the lead singer from Kings of Leon? Or maybe the lead singer from Creed? It's either REALLY good or crappy as hell. Either way there's a certain "been there, done that" quality to it. Not that almost all pop/rock isn't recycled from something else from the past, just not sure what to make of this.

  • The beginning reminds me intro The Verve´s This Is Music live in Coachella 08 ;)

  • Yeah man Yorkchester Bono!

  • yup...i like this...got a feel of the verve....storm in heaven/ a northern soul era..but very much their own band...defo gonna watch this space!

  • And what a fulfillment it must be to play in such a band!

  • Keeps getting bigger, THIS monster of an extraordinary song!!!

  • Now guys, how can you quarrel about art from the heart? Just listen and be humble as long as you get offered the opportunity to. Beauty makes me cry, cause one day it will fade, there's no place in eternity for it.

  • Anyone know where the outdoor parts of this video were filmed? It looks a bit like the Hole Of Horcum on near Pickering.

  • Anyone know the chart position of the album ??

  • Exit Calm need to get over here to Seattle, immediately.

Best UK indie band by a country mile, pisses all over rubbish NME bands of the past decade (libs, kaisers, artic monkeys).

I lost faith in british music but I think its all coming back.

  • I keep on returning to this one, very very very great tune, it gives the juice of the moment, no need to be in another moment when this melody turns around, aaahhh what a moving thing, right outta my soul, man ...

  • are they from manchester or barnsley???????????

  • @boggy4000 Barnsley/Sheffield

  • uninteresting, unoriginal, plain music.

  • @1988bluemoon daft cunttt u daft cunt is all that needs to be said 1988bluemoon is a total daft cunt!

  • @DonHumbostoni

I can almost guarantee im a thousand times more intelligent than you are you 'daft cunt.'

All im trying to say is whats new about it? He sounds like a shit version of Ian Brown and the music is just typical boring indie 'lads music' bollocks. They'll be forgotten in a year or two!

The English music industry died on its arse after the 90's and thats pretty much fact.

  • @1988bluemoon So please enlighten us as to what you are listening to these days. I'm very interested in hearing what you have to say.

  • @deeray41

Erm the last four albums Ive recently purchased are

    Arcade Fire -The Suburbs

    Bonobo - Black Sands

    The Coral - Butterfly House

The Go! Team - Thunder Lightning Strike

Definitely not the best music ever made but they are all a hundred times better/more original than this pile of shit

  • @1988bluemoon and how can you possibly say your more intelligent than someone you don't know? you idiot! you obviously do not know what your talking about! you silly boy! indie music? again stupid boy! more shoegaze than anything ! you need to re think ur life.

  • @DonHumbostoni

Well I just took a guess considering you used the phrase daft cunt three times in the same sentence. Haha, I need to re-think my life cos I dont like your shit music? Right....

This is not shoegaze at all, My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus & Mary Chain or Sonic Youth are shoegaze. The only thing this has in common with them is that listening to it evokes the same feeling you'd get had your shoe just stood in some dog shit.

  • @DonHumbostoni

    and its you're

    you idiot

  • @1988bluemoon its called abbreviation u dumbass! if you don't like exit calm then its simple fuck off! no1 on here wants to know ur worthless uneducated opinion! you daft cunt.

  • @DonHumbostoni

No, its called bad grammar! You're is already an abbreviation you fucking dunce. Think about what you're saying before you try and insult someone.

    and listen to better music!

  • Comment removed

  • @DonHumbostoni So that means he needs to rethink his life and his football team!

What a gimp. Exit Calm are one of THE best bands i've ever seen live. A must see.

  • @where8angels8play yeh i dont understand why losers like that bluemoon cunt watch and leave negative comments! if you don't like then don't watch simple! and if you dont like exit calm your insane! lol they leave me stigmatized...... :P

  • @where8angels8play

Ha, a fuckin rag no doubt!

At least we manage to sell all of our season tickets.

  • @1988bluemoon I love how the music master and smartest man alive is only 22/23. Expert in music already. Live a little, young man.

  • @ozzyvideo2010

Behold the arrogance of youth! (and Im 21 by the way)

I hardly think that defending my own personal opinion against the drab insults of some braindead fool qualifies as me not living my life in its entirety.

I wonder how many more of you are gonna come popping out the woodwork? Anybody would think youre in the fucking band - but you're not! You're just faces in the audience, wrinkley faces, desperately trying to cling onto your youth by jizzing all over the latest band :)

  • Comment removed

  • @deeray41

Haha I liked the troll reference. Its almost as if you have decided to take the higher ground but couldnt resist the urge to add insult at the end. If we're being honest here, my comments are far from troll-like. Everything Ive written is comprehensible and, unlike you, Ive actually managed to give reason as to why I think a band are 'not very good.'

In order to condescend, one has to be in a position of superiority - and lets face it, I am! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @1988bluemoon no you're just a total cunt

  • This is bloody fantastic, just what we have been waiting for, Very Verve-esque and that is a compliment.

  • I know a lot of you people will not believe me buuut, scott (the drummer) is my next door neighbour and my step dad is the person who drives around all of their equipment. I have a white exit calm t shirt on right this very second too

  • I am blown away by this. This is brilliant.

  • Love this track, can't stop singing it!

  • Really good, sounds like a moody 'Doves' with a sprinkle of 'The Verve', Keeping an eye on these fellas.

  • Not really my thing, but wasn't too bad.

  • i first heard this live, i got goosebumps its was fucking unreal.

  • Just great, still big, only cool, and what a vid, goddamn .... Such landscapes produce such music. But why Audi? And no rust on it? Why not, if people get make-up, kajal and all that stuff, not a little bit of dirt on the car?

But ahhhh, what a tune ...

  • seen them last night in king tuts glasgow - fuckin epic to say the least , guitar sound is just lethal lol

  • The sound of the guitar is stunning. Is that a fender jaguar?

  • great!!!

  • Are you Man Or Astroman in disguise?

  • There on at Kendal Calling

  • this is what verve forth should have been ( sorry richard)

  • @overseasmoore

Forth was a decent album, they just made some wrong choices with albums tracks. "I see Houses" and "Numbness" should have been chopped and they should have put on "MaMa Soul" "All Night Long" and "Blue Pacific Ocean".

  • The band is touring in England this summer. Dates upoaded in their myspace site

  • Goin Barnsley Civic gig....gonna be absolutely epic!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Finally the album is out. This band are brilliant and deserve to go all the way. This is what The Verve should've sounded like. I may be in my mid 50's, but I know what I like (in your wardrobe!)

    Big Al

  • sounds just like storm in heaven, i like it

  • If anyone think this is great,They should listen to the full album version! What a tune!

  • Got tickets for that gig at Barnsley Civic! Gunna bi reyt good.

  • @jessnjax1 Same same!!!

  • Top band! Top post! This is what you want to filll in when the verve are on a permanent holiday :) cheers

  • great tune, cant wait to listen the album !

  • Fuckin ave sum! Single of the week in The Sun!

  • his voice sounds better on here than when he sang always a way live...probably cause they added an auto tone or something...that sound it gives when he sings and it has an echo sound....it sounds better...

  • they sound like a mix between the verve and the editors...you should also check out black market karma, their a pretty good up and coming band....

  • When do ye buggers visit Switzerland, ye buggers? Come to us, come to Abart, Zurich or B-Sides-Festival or

  • Once again: thanx thanx thanx for this pure beauty of a bugger of hell of a godly tune. I'm lost in this, desormais et pour toujours, ahhhhh ...

  • Saw them at Leadmill in Sheffield last November and they were awesome, got tickets to gig at Barnsley Civic theatre on the 26th June - can't bloody wait!!

  • fucking superb. thanks.

  • Saw this on Lava TV the other night and really liked it, superb stuff.

  • the 3rd of June they are gonna be on BBC RADIO 2 - live session - janice long show!!!

  • Amazing song!! I'm hoping for big things from this band!!

  • Nice video boys, good luck with the album release

  • Food, Water, Oxygen, Exit Calm....

  • @ImStigmatized Yeah, that's what I'd call roots coming back!!!

  • This band makes me humble. I mourned Long Fin Killie's passing away, now I feel like raising from ashes again. Sound wizards, gods of metric dissoulution, make me simply very very grateful to have ears to hear, them buggers ... No man shall curse what god has elevated!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • new single from nu-Shoegaze/Bliss Rock Band 'Exit Calm' from their forthcoming self titled debut Album out in may 2010 - great band, mixing the epic with the obscure, gonna be big i think.

"With ragged vocals and swathes of widescreen guitar effects reminiscent of early verve, south yorkshires four-piece Exit Calm have a penchant for all things epic" (Q MAGAZINE)

  • Its like the verve back in the storm in heaven, gravity grave etc days. fantastic. Just what we need. I shall be purchasing your music.

  • @wilko160 great comment, know what you mean, thats a class album, that changed it all for me, heard about these guys, had a few friends seen them, this is quality..like it..

  • Can see a lot of verve fans heading your way

  • Can't wait for the album, big up to the lads, seen them 3 or 4 times!!!!

  • Looks great - 7D?

  • Ever heard of a road movie clip? It can be Mohave desert or fuckin Los Monegros.

Music and soul is what it matters

  • They're similar, but quite different. Although, you are entitled to your opinion. Even if it is daft.

  • The girl is sexy!

  • PROPA NAWTY TUNE!

  • Best band in the country, by a fucking mile.

  • @TheWiganKebab they're alright i guess. i mean, theyre no rpa and the united nations of sound and this song is hardly beatitudes. but exit calm are okay i suppose

  • why can more bands have this mentality. Cool as fuck, great music...no wonder the industry is gettin raped...not enough decent geezers like these about...

  • I can't stop listening! What a tune!

  • Absolutely EPIC!!!

Great Video, Smashing Choon, Super Band.

Seen these boys twice already, live shows are Biblical. C'MON!

  • Exit Calm are already music gods in my eyes, even before they have released their debut album. Seriously no exaggeration, stick with this band, they are probably the most capable band of the last 15-20 years

  • @ryanfatal please stop, you're killing me. no originality, an oasis-lite (who were never groundbreakers themselves). shit guitars drowned in reverb, try listening to the dozens of innovative albums already released this year

  • @united22

91 people disagree mate. Dozens of innovative albums released already this year?. You'd probably tell me bands like the foals, delphic and the XX are the best thing since sliced bread. If you'd actually listen to Exit Calm's album you'd see that lyrically/musically they are on a whole different planet. Have you even listened to the full version of this? For the record the only album I would put near Exit Calms this year is The Suburbs, but then again, that's probably 'shit' aswell.

  • I have this gfuitar (fender - Jaguar)

  • Comment removed

  • perfect after the demise of the verve (again)

  • these guys will go into orbit!

  • oh yes, warming me up for the album! for a band to show so much potential and class without having an album in the public domain is testament to a band that has the world in their hands.

exit calm, go and grab the proper music fans who have been waiting for a band like yourselves for a long, long time.

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing

  • Echoes of The Verve. No doubt. Awesome.

  • @Stonehenge35 and stone roses a bit

  • sounds wicked but i prefer the way they do it live with more of a build up at the beginnin and the breakdown in the middle is a bit different . sounds immense thow

  • It's the single edit. The full version is on the album.

  • they remind me of The Verve in 95! Great Band! I can't wait to hear the entire cd.

  • All together now, best band in the world!!

  • oooh very sweet bravo

  • This band are something special...saw them live last year and they blew me away!

  • EPIC!!!!

  • Northern...barnsley and surrounding areas

  • A phenomenal song - and a great video too.

Can't wait for the album and the Manchester gig in a couple of weeks.

    Cheers!

  • A very good friend commented that the style of the video reminded her of "The Man Who Told Everything" by Doves. And I agree, which is certainly no bad thing!! I like how it leaves you to make up your own mind re-the ending to the story. Just like the song, sorry, the tune :-) portrays, we all have the battles between Hearts and Minds. Excellent stuff. Bring on Moho in 13 days. Luv, Lefty.x

  • Awesome track!!

  • Everything i expected and more. Brilliance.

  • Awesome track and awesome sound - suppose I'll have to wait another 6 months for the US release and 12 months for some tour dates over here!!!

  • Club AC30 has shipped every order I have placed to them and I'm from Ohio.

  • heard the track once - stuck in my head after one play! can't stop listening to it now!

this choon is bigger than epic!

    mike porter

  • Sheer class lads.

    Onwards and upwards!!!

    Pistol

  • As Richard Ashcroft said , back when he was relevant, THIS IS MUSIC!!!!!!!

  • Amazing shit.

  • A great track. This is amazing live! I have seen them loads and going on 25th March in Manchester.

2010 the year of Exit Calm

  • Shear class that. Roll on March 25th in Manchester!
