  • What. The. Hell. Is. This.

  • utterly douche chilling

  • God I wanna know how much cocaine was involved in the creation of this.

  • FuCK YOU JONTRON START MAKING VIDS

  • i know this may be a stupid question... but is this real? if it is, my respect for these guys has gone through the roof

  • @HeavyMetal469 cop rock was either a movie or tv series

  • @TheProsprods

    tv show

  • A+

  • Why does this not have 1,000,000 views?

  • The setting, premise, lyrics and execution are god-awful.

I am deeply jealous of that guy's singing voice, though.

  • Just think about how much better the tale of getting arrested would be when you told it to your buddies if it involved cops singing and making wack rhymes

  • hahaa

  • It's funny that the other patrolmen are sitting there like "What the fuck is he DOING?"

  • HAHAHA! Never thought I'd say it but I "approve" of these cops. :p

  • The biggest bunch of pussies the force has ever seen.

  • MY god! Does every room in this Law Enforcement community have a double rowed piano? Thats gotta be like 1000 dollars a room! Thats our Taxes going into that just so the Cops can bust into song randomly. I'd hate to see what the budget meeting was for that year.

  • What the fuck...

What the fuck as a declaration statement, not as a question.

  • ...Meanwhile, in the city, people are getting killed in the street.

  • Thumbs up if you were able to watch the entire video without hanging yourself...

  • @wambam99999 Fuck yea I was dude this is awesome

  • The wonderfully talented Mike Finnigan at it again.....

  • This is so damned bad it's good! (for the extreme LOL's)

  • What the fuck? Fuck... I'm like pissed now.

  • this was a classic cult piece of tv love it

  • Flux Pavillion brought me here

  • I am in awe that such a thing exists!

  • The keyboard solo makes it.

  • This is amazing.

  • If policemen spent less time getting C's in high school and more time playing keyboard like this dude, the world would be a better place.

  • 8 people weren't careful out there

  • Comment removed

  • Homage to Sgt. Estherhaus. They cuit out the part at the very end where James B. Sikking (as Hill Street's. SWAT Leader, Howard Hunter) stands by as the other cops leave the squad room.

  • Homage to Sgt. Estherhaus.

  • This show NEEDS a DVD release.

  • So wait, why did they cancel this again?

  • Please post the episodes in their entirety.

  • Hah this is GOLD

  • Let's be careful out there? How about, "Let's be for changing the channel." My God, this show sucked. I think the execs at ABC were high on crack when this was green lighted.

  • @WesMantooth73 Don't like it? Then shut up and watch something else. Let me enjoy something I never got to see because asswholes like you never gave it a chance. FUCK YOU, WESMANTOOTH73!!!

  • @OddyRedd I'm keeping you from enjoying it? Hey, if you're a big fan of cheesy, singing police officers....go nuts. You have a right to.......rock out to it. And I have the right to laugh at you....and I will. If you'll excuse me I have to get back to watching 'Annie.' STAY CLASSY, ODDYREDD!!!

  • @WesMantooth73 Sorry, I'm just tired of looking up songs from Cop Rock and seeing a shit ton of comments insulting the show and nothing about the song itself.

  • @OddyRedd I'm sorry. The songs suck as well.

  • @WesMantooth73 Why does it suck? Why do you not like it?

  • @OddyRedd Is that a serious question? If it is.......wow.

  • @WesMantooth73 ICYF, I like this song. However, I will listen to constructive criticism. You have yet to provide such.

  • @OddyRedd Okay. The song lacks the true emotion that is associated with real life police officers who sing at roll call. If it were more realistic I wouldn't laugh and wet myself everytime I heard it. The bottom line is...it needs more cowbell. I'm telling you, you're gonna want that cowbell. GUESS WHAT!? I gotta feeva and the only prescription is MORE COWBELL!

  • @WesMantooth73 And now I realize that I'm talking to a troll. (walks off)

  • @OddyRedd This is fun. You gotta give me this...I care enough to post. Who else is on here posting back and forth with you? We should do this more often.

  • @WesMantooth73 I can see a revival of Cop Rock, It just needs some fixes, Like consistency in tone. From most of the clips I've seen, the tone would shift a lot. There's a lot of bad acting and bad script-writing. Hiring better actors and better writers can fix that. Some of the actors can't sing. Hire better singers.

  • @WesMantooth73 this is some funny shit, this fucking guy thinks they will have a revival, hes a fucking moron.

  • @supersonicfan84 Hey, you be nice. Just because somebody lacks taste doesn't....necessarily make them a moron. Nevertheless, be careful out there.

  • @WesMantooth73 I am being nice, its not like I said it to him directly, besides I have you to thank for introducing to this crap cop show that was about 10 episodes too many.

  • @supersonicfan84 It's my pleasure. In the show's defense it was the late 80's/early 90's when crack cocaine was hitting it big. So, that's a reason the execs can use for putting this hilarious crap on the air. They were under the influence. I hope they are better now.

  • @WesMantooth73 If they're not we may really see a revival of this show like the dude said earlier.

  • The singing is great, but this show was severley hampered by bad acting and writing.

  • @GoldmansNephew Yeah, that was the reason it got canceled.

  • YOU FOOT PATROLS KEEP A LOOK OUT!!!!

  • I am totally mystified by this.

  • It actually works as ti follows the rules of musical theatre songwriting - well - it DID have Randy Newman writing the score...

He gets Oscars for PATF, Toy Story etc...

Yes - it *could* work - and I hope it gets a DVD release... or maybe goes onto streaming services - hell - how about BBC4 buying and repeating the series along with stuff on Randy newman?

  • I remember this airing on BBC1... response shifts with Hammond B3s in podiums? Forgot that,...

  • Homicide, arson, robbery and rape have never sounded so catchy.

    This song is inspiring.

  • if you watch everyone closely, you'll see that they all want to get into the song and start shaking their heads or snapping their fingers, but that maintain control and make it look like a real squad room

  • Sorry Cop Rock fans, no song is better from the series than BABY MERCHANT! I have had that suck in my head for years...

  • @LevSix Tots 'R Us.

  • @JustOneAsbesto Haha. I love how catchy these songs are. I meant to say that "Baby Merchant" has been "stuck in my head," not "suck in my head," although both may be true. Play it tough but play it safe...LET'S BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

  • I asked for a bootleg copy of this over at a both at C2E2 this year and the people who ran the booth were like o.O .

  • God....from 'High School Musical' to 'Glee'....I swear, this show was way ahead of its time. I think if it was aired today, it might actually work. Damn.....

  • Let's be careful out there...

  • Glee is here because of this show. Bring it Back.

  • GLEE WITH GUNS

  • @jaymie60 God I wish. Then I might actually watch it.

  • Fabulous, man. I wish the original Hill Street Blues had had some of this! Thanks for posting.

  • All the best musicals include a jazzy song involving the word "rape."

  • I remember when this first came out the chicago sun times TV critic gave it four stars. I wonder if he still has a job?

  • What...Isn't everyone's roll call like this?

  • What in the HELL is that bad Casio "guitar" in the background?

  • @amd0576 Sounded like a Clavinet to me...

  • @alcockell So that's what it is. Thanks, wasn't totally sure about the instrument.

  • this was a waste of my time.

  • this show is FUCKING RETARDED!!!

Every time this show would come on my dad would ask me to watch it.

Couldn't he just stab me with a dull spoon instead?

    Far less of a punishment!

  • Ok I've seen enough musicals that my brain was able to shut down and suspend disbelief for a while, and then he started playing a keyboard that just happened to be in the briefing room, and my mind ASPLODED

  • MY MIND!

  • this could gave worked if it was a comedy. Honestly except as a kind of spoof musicals shouldn't exist.

  • This show was a sad moment in American history. I laughed so hard.

  • this show rocks!!!

  • Can someone please explain to me why there's a fucking piano in the police station?

  • @mcbaby i'ts an organ

  • @mcbaby for the musical interlude.

  • epic fail

  • @killmodell that was exactly what i thought. When you think, you know the worst tv series on this planet and then .... cop rock arises in front of you - you just think : Epic Fail !

  • Oh, and guys? hey, HEY, lets be careful out there!

  • I didn't realize it the first time, but EVERYONE was about to get up and leave. Until. UNTIL! ...he broke out into a 2 minute and 39 seconds song.

  • catchy song

  • homocide, arson, murder, and rape! doobee doobee doo

  • @zee339 crime never sleeps so lets stay awake...

  • @nickv999 forever !?!

  • I thought this was a joke back in 88, but it was real. I wonder how many cops watched this show and connected.

  • Combining musicals with cops was a really radical idea, but it just doesn't work (well, with maybe the exception of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables)

  • This wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have the PIANO! That seriously took whatever credibility this show had.

  • @thatquietkid um, that's an organ dude. lol lolooololololololololooloolololol :)

  • @9caps2hell Oh. Well that makes it SO much better now.

  • Seriously, what's with the hate? This song is FUCKING AWESOME!

Look at the keyboard behind the podium! You just know the sergeant just sings so he can have an opportunity to play it in front of a crowd every day.

  • This was quite possibly the single DUMBEST idea EVER for a television show.

  • Class, shear unadulterated class. Play it again, and one more time. Total class.

  • Screw anyone who doesn't appreciate my man Mike Finnigan singing this!!One of the greatest vocalist/keyboardist who has worked with just about everyone in music!

  • Pity the commissioner didn't come in mid song saying "what the fuck is this?!?!"

  • oh man this is awesome!

  • 187 at the 7/11!!!!!!!!!

  • @XanatharEye Down on 4th and Main ...

  • i can only imagine how they pitched this show, and more than one exec must have thought it was a great idea, i can't believe it got made into a show.

  • LOVE!

  • Actually, unlike say, Viva Laughlin, it has to be said this does at least have good singing. This is a good performance when you divorce it from its context.

  • Whoa! That was terrible.

  • Cop Rock. Let's be careful in here too!

    -The cornball

  • @weightfeather1 LOL. The day in American television history known as "The Mass Channel Click".

  • man, i love this show.

  • this was a killer concept show - kind of like Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. a bit before its time and not sure cops and musicals really mix but hey - took balls to try something like this - it's actually pretty good for what it is!

  • This is the most brilliant concept for a show ever. Of course it was doomed to fail.

  • why did they not tase him for singing and not letting them do their duties :)

  • the guy can singing, but the premise is just so stupid... who thought that this was a good idea? Crossing Glee with Law and Order??? or cops? yeah that's going to catch on quickly. lol

  • You can actually SEE how uncomfortable the actors look.

All the intensity of a song and impromptu organ solo ... with the complete dead faced, serious audience receiving it. Even in musicals, background actors get choreography. Their reaction to his singing, validates our reaction.

  • LOVE HIS VOICE

  • The bass really makes it for me.

  • @JacoIII No wait, it's the piano.

  • Oops. I meant chewing gum trying to hold it together.......

  • Crime never sleeps, so stay awake!!! Lets beee careful ooouut theeere.... keyboard!

Are you hearing me people??.......The best part of this is at 1:38, when "sergent. bald guy with a mustache", rookie, "I can't believe my agent actually did this to me", and captain "chewing my gum trying yo hold it together guy", Try their best not to laugh their asses off during this whole thing!! Funny stuff... get that man a doughnut!

  • I don't beleive for one second it was 'two caucasians of the male persuasion' who put a bullet in the casheirs brain!

  • @mattjmit I guess cause "two male niggers" doesn't roll off the tongue.

  • @MrRyguy69 I hate to point this out but caucasian means white.

    Twit.

  • @PeterPiper1505 I hate to point this out but duuuhhhhhh asshole.

  • sign the petition to get this on DVD at

    coprockDOTinfo

  • This is so gloriously absurd it's hilarious. The transition between the sarge talking and singing gets me every time

  • GLEE with guns. The creator of this show should be arrested and beaten by the LAPD.

  • Love the organ in the podium. Classic!!!

  • Christ

  • Oh, that is AWESOME.

  • This show must have been a joke that a pitchman played on TV executives. There is simply no other explanation. It has to be a colossal joke of Andy Kaufmann proportions.

  • They should have made Top Gun a musical like this. It couldn't make it MORE gay than it is!

  • when is it coming out on dvd?

  • hey, i want my share of rape. the singing cops said i could!

  • this is incredibly retarded, i can't believe they got enough people together to produce and broadcast this load of crap.

  • Are you kidding me? This rules!

  • no i'm not, and no it doesn't... ok i was just bein funny right there, lol

  • The actor looks downright embarrassed while he's singing, and he should...lol....

  • just coming!

  • Mike Finnigan is the greatest!

  • douche-a-potamus

  • Just coming!

  • Stephen!

  • Just coming!

  • This could have worked if the songs had been better. The Beatles did it with A Hard Days Night.

  • I think Randy Newman wrote the music for this show!

Speaking of, AHDN, when are John, Paul, and George going to run in and break out Ringo and Grandpa?

  • John and George are dead, so they aren't going to run anywhere.... and who's Grandpa?

  • Have you ever actually seen "A Hard Day's Night"? Than you'd get it!

  • Sorry... didnt get the reference at first. Always think of him as Paul's "grandfather". He's very clean : )

  • @flicklefish That's such a good film! :)

  • Its in my top 3 of all time... I love it! : )

  • he's a maverick, but by God he gets results.

  • Great voice on that guy. Ridiculous show though. And a bit sick showing that guy smoking a pipe through his tracheotomy hole at 0.57

  • Mike Finnigan is amazing.

  • Wow.

  • Sgt. Phillip Freemason Esterhouse would have been proud.

  • i love you

  • That's one of the most realistic portrayals I've ever seen of what it's like to be a cop. People think the job is all about crime-fighting and tasings, but they forget about the musical side.

  • I know right?

  • lol good one bro!!111

  • @clavinusps Are you a cop too? Did they teach you scales in the academy or did you know that before you went in? Hahaha!!

  • @clavinusps funny !!!

  • @clavinusps thats very true. I was a cop in New York in the 90's and every morning at roll call we used to sing dumb wannabe rock songs with catch phrases from Hill Street Blues.

  • @Clevinger67 Oh geez, I don't know, maybe they were filmed in completely different takes! WHOA! What a magical concept! I hope your panties did not explode off of your body with my genius comment OH HEYYYOOOOO!!!!

  • @Clevinger67 As an actor you learn to keep a straight face no matter how bad the scene is. Mainly because it means you can pay your rent and eat for a week or two
