  • Love the disonant riff, love the drums. Is it me or are their other songs softer?

  • saw these in 89 great band , cheers for puttin on

  • saw these in 89 ,great band

  • No matter how many times I hear this song, I STILL love it...MBV RULE

  • oh my, my, bloody valentine....

  • Comment removed

  • What album is this off of?

  • @Arz9233 from You Made Me Realise EP

  • 23 years on, and still sooo damned good...as relevant now as they were then...

  • So fucking good! Listen to this with a joint and gaze on!

  • Fuck trollers, just listen dicks.

  • Still super awesome

  • Fuck me

  • @TheLlamaEater Eat a Llama and I will

  • to the people who don't like this: it's just an acquired taste. once you "get it" you'll love it forever.

  • I'm heavily opposed to noise, so I hate all that heavy metal or noise pop thing and I can't appreciate them no matter how high those polls or critics rank them on their lists. But MBV is among my favorite bands. I like the fact that they didn't treat noise as a form of extreme expression or melody-less violent sound. Instead, they combined it with beautiful melody and sweet singing (Kevin's voice sounds awesome!). So MBV's work is like no others. It's not noisy crap; it's soothing art!

  • @ilovelctr You obviously haven't seen MBV live. They extend the holocaust section of this song (the melodyless noise) to upwards of 15 minutes.

  • @noctiferbirmingham I heard they did it for up to 40 minutes, MBV are truely unhealthy for your hearing, though that doesn't stop them being so damn awesome.

  • pes you legened for admitting that and thank fuck you got it

  • I've been on this thread that long it might actually be growing on me :)

  • I came to this video because of Kevin shields excellent hi energy rock n roll live gigs with primal scream. I was expecting to hear someone who was born to lose kick out the jams.

  • Hahahaha do you contribute to the arts ? Hahahahaha priceless mate.

and yes the comment below is totally valid, there is a comparison between this song and a car crash. they sound the same. The thing is people think they are cool because they listen to this piss. Face reality it's fuckin shit.

    shit music for spotty teenagers.

  • @a1974h and what do you listen to then mate coz this music is where creativity ended in indie rock music! no other band since mbv have created a sound that a generation can be proud of! But if your not from Europe i dont expect you to understand! you need to do your research before you comment and sound like a idiot spotty teen! ha ha!

  • @a1974h

lol at this guy's baby ears

  • @a1947h What is atonal about a car crash? It emits tone, timbre, pitch, rhythm, all of these elements are part of music.

  • damn listen to those drums

  • There is nothing to get.

    It's fuckin shit.

It ain't no rockin roll that's for sure.

It's about as musical as a car crash.

  • @a1974h LOL Poser

  • @a1974h exactly. some people like that in there music though. going on youtube videos and trying to get a rise out of people isnt constructive.

    do you play a instrument?

    do you write songs?

do you contribute to the arts?

    probs not.

  • @a1974h I LOVE the sound of a car crashing, don't you? :)

  • what a unique and catchy song. i love music

  • I'm a music lover and have an open mind and love all kinds of music but that is fuckin dreadful.

  • @a1974h Don't worry, you'll get it one day.

  • @a1974h then go away and listen to something more on your level, like bruce springstein

  • @hjf11393 or barry mannilow

  • @hjf11393 I like MBV and Bruce Springstein... whats wrong with that??? lol

  • @hjf11393

    Whaaat? Springsteen's fantastic though.

  • It was odd when they played the Roundhouse a couple of years back and whilst all the young'uns were cowering at the noise, us oldsters were lapping it up. It was loud, mind. But when I was their age I was safely watching people my own age diving off speaker stacks to them (I recall that being a common way of passing the time during the Middle 4,632. It was either that or telling campfire stories until the last bridge came back in)....aaahhh, the memories. And then, of course, the war started.

  • This song live is immense, specially the 'Wall of Sound' part!!!

  • 10 Dislikes? Are you people mental?

  • MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE

  • total thanks for sharing this...pure transcendental pop...PURE GENIus....

  • INSANE EYES, YOU MADE ME REALISE!

  • Billy Corgan needs to go back and listen to some My Bloody Valentine for inspiration, because it all went downhill for him after "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness".

  • i love this song theres soo much distortion. its like your listening to it underwater or theres a wall or something between you and the band.

  • Just dished out 41 Euros for a mint EP-CD. Should be in within a week or so. YT is costing me serious money...

  • This. Is. Fucking. Genius.

  • I saw them live when I was 14. My hearing was fucked up for like two weeks. And I think it went back but I'm not sure.

  • @CommanderC00L558

I saw them at the same age and remember a stuning final song wich was like a Boing taking off, great stuff indeed

  • Head-nodding, air-drumming, air-guitars, and then the same all over again - this is why people start bands!

  • I'm trying to find a single redeeming note in this. Seriously, you guys are kidding right? This is a joke, right?

  • @parkingst0nes Song is fucking amazing dude. Really catchy, heavy guitar riff, beautiful vocals, cool song structure, what more could you want?

  • @parkingst0nes Lol,your face is a joke!

  • Did Douglas Hart direct this video?

  • @wallerpaul70 Yeah

  • I'm ashamed to admit this but will anyway.I first heard of mbv when I saw this vid on MTV120mins (UK) in 1990 and I thought it was the worst thing I'd ever heard.I happened to have my VCR running that night and only heard a second time because I wanted to show my mate how hilariously shite it was. It's alright though because by the end of that 2nd play I'd 'gotten' it and fell madly in love.mbv are still my favourite band.

  • @PeasGraveny Nice, I kinda had the same story!

  • @PeasGraveny this happens to me all the time. when i extremely hate music, the 2nd listen usually brings me around.

  • @447GHT It's a very fine line 'twixt love and hate I find.

  • @PeasGraveny They made you realize??

  • @PeasGraveny i always listen to an album three times before saying weather it sucks or its good. but yes mbv is amazing, and so is most shoegaze, old or new.

  • @PeasGraveny LOL we forgive you:) They were my No.1 in highschool. You know, I actually took notes back then when I was watching 120 min with Paul King like it was some important lecture, and I guess it was:D

  • Got in John Peels festive 50 in 1988 or 1989 i think-straight track...nice

  • I never listened to My Bloody Valentine because I saw a bunch of emo kids wearing MBV tees from hot topic and I assumed it was Emo music. :S

  • @BuenaBuona That's BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE.

  • @kyletheenigma HAHA WTF I guess that makes it ok to listen to them then

  • @kyletheenigma Or My Chemical Romance

  • @BuenaBuona those were likely Bullet for my Valentine shirts... much more worthless.

Before I knew of either band I used to be a little a confused about which was what and whether there was one band or not.

  • @JohnECocaine

    has a point

loveless is seen as the second coming of christ

  • Ah, fuck. How good it this?

  • I don't know Billy Corgan, and I like a lot of his music, but I am quite prepared to believe he is a twat. I wouldn't be surprised if Kevin Shields was a bit of an arse - he certainly has a reputation as being difficult - but as long as he gets results like this, who's complaining?

  • 2:25 is footage of Jack Nicholson from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." This band makes Sonic Youth sound like "easy listening" music.

  • This band is Irelands greatest secret

  • @manconoo I wouldn't exactly call MBV a secret

  • soundtrack to a misspent middle age...awesome

  • 0:13 snippet from A Clockwork Orange :)

  • Can anyone tell me the deal with the cover photo for the YMMR ep? A girl lying in grass with a knife to her throat, I've got it on a t-shirt and just wondered who the girl might be (looks a bit like Blinda?)

  • insane eyyyyyyyeeeees.......you made me realise.

  • how can anyone dislike this? exquisite three part harmonies over pure noise. merry xmas!!

  • whatever was in the water back then, I hope to fuck it gets back in the water now!

  • No, it dont matter, I dont care what people do, and I smoke for the record

  • love this band

  • god damn, why cant i find this on itunes?

  • @PAULisDEADMANnumber9 because iTunes hates you.

  • this song is similar than Silver Rocket by Sonic youth. it's the same beat, same texture, same break same lenght ...Same year?

  • @MrHeydude81 actually, You Made Me Realise from My Bloody Valentine and Silver Rocket from Sonic Youth are from the same year. Guess there were something "in the air" back then. ;-)

  • @PkHenrik Yes,the air was full of awesome:)

  • @MrHeydude81 haha. nah, SY's great song is song-noise-song whereas MBV's is song-noise-10-70 minutes of complete murder.

  • Is there anyone who isnt a pothead that likes MBV?

  • @TheHotFucking I'm straight edge and I love their music

  • @doublethink921 I drink a bottle of wine a night and I love their music

  • @TheHotFucking yess

  • @TheHotFucking

    No, but does it matter?

  • at first, it took me a while to, umm, "get" MBV, but now that i do, i love them!!!

  • On the par with "just like honey".

    Just as great.

  • God that distorted veil of noise in the middle is just amazing. Then the harmonies on the vocals for "You made me realize" give me chills. Love MBV :)

  • 1:40 - 2:22 Best break in music history!!!

  • @cramunse Big call but good call.

  • @cramunse sounds like something u'll hear when ur tripped outta ur mind.

  • I really like this song, and I think the video is great. You gotta love the late 80's mash-up style videos.

  • i love grunge and britpop... buti gotta SAY..THE BEST GERE OF THE 90'S WAS SHOEGAZE

  • Best MBV song.

  • @finulanu how can ya say that , all the tunes they did were / still are kick ass

  • I'm high on truffles and this shit is AMAZINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG:P

  • This song makes me feel like going out andf attacking somebody with a chainsaw. In a good though.

  • Who's the woman at 0.20?

  • @jackwearing the woman at 0.20 is the divine Bilinda Butcher vocalist/guitarist in the band

  • So hard yet so soft. Genius.

  • This was directed by Douglas Hart, the bass player from Jesus and Mary Chain.

  • why cant i find this song for sale anywhere?

  • @buewgewstmeiers because this song was released on an E.p not on an album and there is only a few left in existance. and they are REALLY expensive cos of their rarity.

  • @nick0is0ace I got the ''You Made Me Realise'' EP on Vinyl in 1989 - CRE 055 (T) - we used to go to a small record shop (since knocked down) near the Cavern in Liverpool every Saturday morning for our records - good days.

  • @5tgb6yhn5tgb you should put it up for sale :)

  • @buewgewstmeiers I wish I could tell you. I'd like to have it on C.D. to. For some reason, I can only find Loveless, Isn't Anything, Glider, and Tremolo. All there other demos, and albums, are very hard to find. If you go to their My Space channel, there's some new songs. You can also find some Kevin Shields songs on the Lost In Translation soundtrack. I sure wish I could blast this song in my car. Maybe there's a website where you can download it.

  • i hate the way youtube changed their format again, who are the assholes that gave this the thumbs down

  • Seriously, music doesn't get a whole lot better than this.

  • @d00drogers absolutely right, my friend

  • @d00drogers fantastic been a fan for 20 years

  • @MsSonic1972 me too :)

  • @d00drogers

    c'est un retard

  • Anyone know where i can find this ep cheaper than $150? (On CD If possible)

  • Just download it, it's WAAYYYY cheaper.

  • From where?

  • i cannot find this song on any of there albums or ep's its killing me

  • it's from an untitled ep, but most people just call it "You Made Me Realise EP". Message me and I can email you a copy. Or go to ebay, I see a few copies of the ep for around $20.

  • A breath of fresh air !

  • does anybody feel like there body is changing and becoming part of an organic lifeform while listining to this or am i slightly insane

  • no, this music really envelopes around you :) makes me want to dance....

  • @theunhappyzombie this is usually a main symptom on an acid trip

  • this is frikken heavy!

  • anyone know what album this song is on?

  • it's on the "You Made Me Realise" EP

  • I didn't go deaf either but I thought my ears were going to explode.

  • This song broke me in Camden this June :) Loved every moment and was dazed for days

  • tinitus is not funny, but I am glad I braved the guitar holocaust in camden on 24th june. I love this track, made me change the way I played guitar.

  • Fuckin magic.

  • What's the point of such question ? Is there a competition or something ?

  • Yes, Better.

  • I kind see SP more like radiorock well at anything after SD.

  • can someone decipher these acronyms? SP? SD?

  • Smashing Pumpkins. Siamese Dream. Smashing Pumpkins were heavily influenced by My Bloody Valentine.

  • duh

  • @eyotan no fucking doubt

  • @eyotan think thats a no brainer

  • @eyotan two different styles.

  • @eyotan I love M.B.V., & the Pumpkins. Of course it was a Billy Corgan interview, that got me into them. You can totally tell that Billy Corgan's influenced by Kevin Shields. The strumming pattern in Disarm is very M.B.V. like. Well, I guess at the moment, I like M.B.V. better. Probably because I was into the Pumpkins 1st. Zwan kind of reminds me of M.B.V. to, especially with Paz Lenchantin on back up vocals. I sure hope that M.B.V. goes on tour in the U.S. again. I still need to see them live.

  • @eyotan Fucking way better than smashing pumkins - tho S.P are fucking great, MBV ARE FUCKING GOD!

  • @clumpft the pumpkins are posers

  • @TADGELL Is there intelligent reasoning behind that statement, or are you just being a pretentious prick?

  • @Grave187RIP13 actually, the intelligent reasoning behind it is that the singer of the smashing pumpkins is a pretentious prick, and they also made a crappy xmas song, which pretty much means that they suck donkey balls. final answer.

  • @TADGELL And you know Billy Corgan personally to make that assumption?

  • @Grave187RIP13 i know someone that went out with him.

  • @TADGELL You are completely full of shit. I swear if you were any more of a troll there would be a bridge in your name that you would hang out under.

  • @Grave187RIP13 i'm not kidding at all. they really do suck donkey balls, and he really is a douche, and i really do know a girl who went out with him.

  • @TADGELL Seriously I am surprised you get internet underneath that bridge, troll. Stop replying to me.

  • @Grave187RIP13 yeah, it's impossible that anyone would acutally know the human female that used to date him. of course.

p.s. the smashing pumpkins suck donkey balls.

  • @TADGELL call them shit but lets see you go out and make a career in music which lasts as long as billy corgans.its all good for fans to say they like or dont like something but to say a band is shit is just opinion and its usually wrong

  • @louiscfc93

    amen!

just cause someone doesnt like something, doesnt mean its shit, its means they have a different opinion

  • @TADGELL everyone thinks their exes are douches

  • @eyotan YES!!!

  • Comment removed

  • (dont ask why) is my favourite MBV song.

  • i dont know what to say about them that hasnt already been said.they are (totally unique.)
