@john69citizen Oh, the second quote is from "Popular Demand Freestyle", if you want to look it up, it's also another lyrical masterpiece by the CHA-Town-Guevara !
I swear Lupe is so underrated. Wish he was bigger than he is now. And he should really think about switching to another record label. Because LASERS took WAY too long to come out. Also, this is my favorite song. Not just Lupe songs, favorite song, period. I agree with you guys, the power of the lyrics is there, and he describes The Game perfectly.

this vid remix is super sick. For arabic speakers, its spine chillin....never figured the rapping character until the arabic snapshot of As Shaytaan at the end.....im addicted to this song now..
@StateRunRadioMASHUP I dont think hes rapping as the devil. He's rapping as the "game" one of the characters in his concept album "The Cool". This song follows a song called "The Die", in which the Game kills the Cool.
@mazrahlover24 Well, you could also argue that the devil is talking to the "Game" after the "Game" had the "Cool" killed and kinda reveiling that he had only used the "Game" all the time to do his bidding, hence:
"They love my darkness, I've made them heartless and in return they have become my martyrs."
But hey, that's just a speculation on my part. ;-)
We know its Satan hes talkin bout.. So with all that said, who are we following????? Satan or Christ?? We cannot serve two masters; we'll be faithful to one and hate the other.. Just like if I LIVE the street life, I WILL get the money, cars and clothes.. But If I LIVE for Christ, I WILL get to heaven.. Its not just a choice. ITS A LIFESTYLE. If you join a gang, you gota live by the creed... and die by them
It's starts out with THE COOL on his first album being the main character that's what his second album is called it's like five tracks telling you his story THE COOLEST introduces you to THE STREETS his girl.. in this one he introduces you to THE GAME the other character THE DIE is the death of THE COOL Lupe is the greastest FNF up Westside Chicago!!!
Lupe is far beyond his time; he's in all honesty nothing less of a genius. The game is the devil; but there are some "Christians" who choose to play with the game and the streets, so they can gain the status of being cool. Their lives are eternal shambles...
no question is stupid if it's from the heart, right? ok, so in the song, the identity of the character here is meaning that he's the Devil? (i don't read Arabic)
@kittiehart It revolves around one of the three characters in Lupe's Album : The Cool.
This one is the character 'The Game'. He basically strays mankind to a darker path, indulging them in drugs, murder, theft etc etc. So in a sense, yes, the devil.
@kittiehart Key bars that sealed the deal for me of the character being Satan was.. "One of the oldest most ancientest of things, speak every single language on the planet...ya meen" or "These fools are my fuel,so i make them Cool(Fame,Fortune, etc.)"
i'm sorry but wayne does rap about bullshit but so does everyone else but he does have alot of extremely lyrical songs and i just can't stand when people he doesn't like pray to the lord was a very lyrical song but either way lupe killed this, this was also very lyrical
I think When he says game he is talking about the culture as a whole that is being force fed to our generation. All the music, the fashion, the dollar green, gold plated dreams that is being sold to our youth that will ultimately lead to our demise. This is the most slept on and underrated artist in my opinion and i cnt wait til the third installment of his work. I support real hiphop....I dnt really like the track its laid over but the power of the lyrics shine thru regardless.....
Lupe is by far the most powerful lyricist around right now, this mixtape kills anything, he has tracks you can vibe and relax to, and ones that send shivers down your spine + plant thoughts in your mind, and all with high quality yet effortless flows, punches, metaphors, multi syllables and concepts. you cant name anyone else with that level of technique and variety since Rakim, Nas ect. This song is on another level. Nice video btw. best one for this track
These fools are my fuel so i make them cool>>> WOW! Lupe is sick. This nigga actually made a song portraying Satan. What an artist!! I hope he doesnt become a target because he's straight callin the illuminati out
thats sweet " one of the oldest most ancienest things, speak every single language on the planet NO WHAT i mean" get it refering to the languages =] thought i might add that.
amazing song lupe is truly one of the greatest there is he spits real messages and stories unlike the sell outs spitting the recycled verbs of there puppeteers
Awesome mix; both PYOG and Cigarettes are powerful tracks with meaningful messages. Also, I'm of the opinion that Lupe's talking about everything that's wrong with people as a whole. In a word, evil.
Let ME put you ALL on Game... This song describes one of the 4 characters that Lue created on this Album. First theres Michael YoungHistory and The Cool, they are the same person Michael Young History is the alive being and The Cool is the ghost of MYH. Theres the Game, who is introduced in this song and there is also the Streets.
oh yeah and props to lupe...fuckin amazin lyricist. i used to love eminem and styles p biggie and the other really G rappers. but now lupe is my new favorite. he has lyrical talent AND a meaningful message. Most of the really good rappers only have the lyrical talent but not that many have a message to share and thats what i love about lupe
I dont remember the name of the song but lupe said something like "god forgive me for sellin my soul" or something close to that. u dont necessarily have 2 agree with me, u can look all of this stuff up for ureself and make ure own opinion on it. Pce
Wow, once I heard this song I knew what he was referring to. Seeing "shaitan" in arbic at the end. It means the devil. remember Jay-z is the one who hooked lupe up with his record deal. If u look up the illumaniti and all that stuff u'll find out that jay-z is one of them which is how lupe was exposed to this stuff. its the main reason y lupe is retiring after only 3 albums cause he didnt like wat he saw.
@ThePeaceMaker09 yes Jay Z is a third degree mason, theres are many masons in the music and movie industry, Madonna is a very good example, also Lady Gaga, actors like Nicholas Cage, and so on. But they have very small roles in the entire scheme
the arabic says shaitaan meanin devil so he basicaly sayin what the devil does buh obviously hes not sayin he is one buh tahts what the devil does to mis elad MUSLIMs
people say this refers to the devil. but to what does that mean exactly? the "I" in this song is not refering to the devil. the devil he is refering to i think is not the horned red biblical satan, but the devil inside each person. the "I" in this song i believe is money. replace money for every "I" in the song (i run this place, ive become this race) and (i make them heartless). so the satan figure i think is the idea of the devil (evil) inside everyone to get money, regardless of others
@JBrewer4386 Yes it did appear on that album under that name. It's just on YouTube as Real Recognize Real, so I figured I'd call it that so people would find it.
while Lupe is a muslim, and he is trying to depict the Devil, Satan, Lucifer, or whatever you want to call him. In a non-religious term you can also see he is easily talking about Evil. Which is everywhere and anywhere. In my thoughts, Satan is a symbolic for Evil, not necessarily a literal being. That is why I don't think he says Satan, or anything like that, because it can be Satan, but IT IS Evil.
the fact is, he is allowing us to portray who it is ourselves. I agree with DMVsDrummer completely that lupe wants us to decide who or what the game is. also, u really cant compare lupe and em, simply cuz how different they are. lupe has proven to be more intelectuall and poetic, while em raps on a more personal and deeper level. both are geniuses. and although drake seems to be the new face of young money (terrible) he can spit 2. listen 2 (fear, say whats real, congratulations, and closer)
Definitely talking about the devil. How does the devil do the things that he says? Via his agents in government, big business, policy makers, artists etc. The blueprint has been layed out by the 'grand architect' for his builders(masons) to follow.
im confused, is he trying to send us a message about the undenying factors in this world such as the freemasons or he is trying to make us more aware of our soceity and actions.
da reason for dis is to make yu think wht want to ,
if dat makes any sence , .. play it bakk ovr nd ovr in yur head , nd you will slowly incorporate yurself into this song , nd slowly unravel yur life within it, then it will all make since to u , das wht he wants us to do ... u decided who or wht "The Game" is ......
to tell u the truth this song came apon me in a conversation about free masons...now to me lupe's message challenges the listeners mind nd for him doing so with his lyrics histrackis under raed buht if u sit nd listen nd think out this ish the message can unfold into a milli sorys of waht poseo b the game portraid in his song...oda wordsthe message is only decoded with thoght {how he put you n game}
the game is the dark side of society, yes, LUpe makes you think, listen to the Coolest, and he's simply elaborating on how long the game has been here and it's influence "one of the oldest most ancient-est things speak every single language on the planet nah mean i am the american dream the rape of africa the undying machine"
Is he talking about god ( the safe havens, eing everywhere, the most acientest of things, all languages, blood of the city) or is the about the Devil?
it's about the game.... the money trade. If you listened to the song the cool off of food & liquor, the character that comes back from the dead is the main character in this album. It walks you through situations that got him killed. The streets (Streets On Fire), the game(Put You On Game). It's saying we're all victimized by the money trade. Kings, fiends, peasants, one way or the other we're forced to play the game. We're pawns
How did eminem reach in.. These guys have nothing in common. Lupe in deeper, em in hard but in the hardcore way. his vocab cannot be compared the lupe Fiasco's own
bullshit. eminem is a lyrical god, bottom line, being the most intellectual out there doesnt make you an incredible lyricist, lupe happens to be both, but if were talkin strictly rhyming, flowing, and not worrying about people tossin their shit out cuz they say what they want and not what people expect... lupe cant see eminem, not on a strictly lyrical level, as a matter of fact nobody can, not even nas, eminems rhyme scheme is too damn difficult and complex, fuck substance, lets talk rhymes
no, since when is the best rapper the best educated one? its about who got the best rhymes. i aint sayin rap about anything and you can be a legend, lil wayne, gucci mane, drake, talk about that bullshit but theyre fuckin terrible lyricists, eminem talks about wtf he wants, which actually isnt materialistic at all, he raps political, personal, and he goes overboard on some horrorcore shit sometimes, but the bottom line is hes a lyrical god, listen to hellbound, it proves my point
A single verse of this track can effortlessly burry ur erroneous claims....ur comprehension of what a 'lyricist' is very weak...nah scrap that...its NON EXISTENT! my friend rhymes are indeed essential yet u say lyrical substance is irrelavent?! One cannot be without the other. Ur claim in essence is one of the major components that lead to the 'death of hiphop' in the mainstream industry.....both lupe and eminem are brilliant lyricists....but the latter fell off.....unfortunately.
To be honest Emineim's lyrics are lovely he comes hard when he needs to & his metaphors are off the chain but strictly lyrical, this is just my opinion eminiem isn;t even in lupe's lane because here's the diffrence about em & lupe Lupe tells stories em just raps so what lupe is saying when you accually pay attention to teh lyrics can bring a tear to your eye an even an amature rapper like Kay M could but em on a strictly lyrical level. me saying all this is wit respect to your opinion thats mine

@john69citizen All I can do is quote Lupe, The Jedi, himself:
"It's never cyclops, it's never I / eye alone !" (Beaming);
"Jay gave me a co-sign like I was Rocawear, but be clear I'm not the heir / air,
I'm the water, fire and the earth,
That means I'm doing dirt, spitting flames and quentching thirst,
And plus the real God has been on my side since birth. . ."
You just can't be more obvious + I honestly think this Illuminaty stuff is just an internet rumor with no substance, but hey . . .

JBrewer4386 2 years ago
@JBrewer4386 Yes it did appear on that album under that name. It's just on YouTube as Real Recognize Real, so I figured I'd call it that so people would find it.

@imdarecord.
Ahh Dude, you're basically right.
Lupe added a creative effect to this song.
He talks from Shaitans (the devils) perspective, hense the 'I's' n' all :)
shamil6793 2 years ago
while Lupe is a muslim, and he is trying to depict the Devil, Satan, Lucifer, or whatever you want to call him.

"the game" is a personification of the drug game, pimp game, etc. put you on game is "the game's" song basically tellin u about himself
sikwitit123456 2 years ago 2
the fact is, he is allowing us to portray who it is ourselves. I agree with DMVsDrummer completely that lupe wants us to decide who or what the game is. also, u really cant compare lupe and em, simply cuz how different they are. lupe has proven to be more intelectuall and poetic, while em raps on a more personal and deeper level. both are geniuses. and although drake seems to be the new face of young money (terrible) he can spit 2. listen 2 (fear, say whats real, congratulations, and closer)
superheromusik 2 years ago
Definitely talking about the devil. How does the devil do the things that he says? Via his agents in government, big business, policy makers, artists etc. The blueprint has been layed out by the 'grand architect' for his builders(masons) to follow.

the game is the dark side of society, yes, LUpe makes you think, listen to the Coolest, and he's simply elaborating on how long the game has been here and it's influence "one of the oldest most ancient-est things speak every single language on the planet nah mean i am the american dream the rape of africa the undying machine"

it's about the game.... the money trade.

Lupe in deeper, em in hard but in the hardcore way. his vocab cannot be compared the lupe Fiasco's own
razarang 2 years ago
amen to that, eminem is materialistic and mostly sings about crimes, drugs, alcohol and whatnot.
Lupe is the best, most poetic and REAL music artist there is
TAHMURI 2 years ago
bullshit. eminem is a lyrical god, bottom line, being the most intellectual out there doesnt make you an incredible lyricist, lupe happens to be both, but if were talkin strictly rhyming, flowing, and not worrying about people tossin their shit out cuz they say what they want and not what people expect... lupe cant see eminem, not on a strictly lyrical level, as a matter of fact nobody can, not even nas, eminems rhyme scheme is too damn difficult and complex, fuck substance, lets talk rhymes
BTNHwishbone 2 years ago
"fuck substance, lets talk rhymes"
Are you high?
TAHMURI 2 years ago
no, since when is the best rapper the best educated one? its about who got the best rhymes. i aint sayin rap about anything and you can be a legend, lil wayne, gucci mane, drake, talk about that bullshit but theyre fuckin terrible lyricists, eminem talks about wtf he wants, which actually isnt materialistic at all, he raps political, personal, and he goes overboard on some horrorcore shit sometimes, but the bottom line is hes a lyrical god, listen to hellbound, it proves my point
BTNHwishbone 2 years ago 2
A single verse of this track can effortlessly burry ur erroneous claims....ur comprehension of what a 'lyricist' is very weak...nah scrap that...its NON EXISTENT! my friend rhymes are indeed essential yet u say lyrical substance is irrelavent?! One cannot be without the other. Ur claim in essence is one of the major components that lead to the 'death of hiphop' in the mainstream industry.....both lupe and eminem are brilliant lyricists....but the latter fell off.....unfortunately.

I don't think that anyone is saying anything negative about eminem.

JustKiddingEnt1 2 years ago
Not to mention that Lupe manages to rap and rhyme WITHOUT saying bitch, hoe, etc...
His got my respect for that.
