love the otalia s/l just hope that whatever happens the relationship between then both is not ruined, either keep them as friends with subtext or make them a couple just don't destroy the last year of build up! :-) an Otalia fan who is loving the angst, drama and build up.

That's kind of been my thought, but it hit me today that maybe the silver lining to this is my belief that the secondary motive for dragging things out for Otalia is so that their physical relationship can proceed AFTER JL's offscreen pregnancy. I mean, it's one thing to hide her pregnancy bump behind a couch or cushion in a normal scene, but if they are going to be a couple with a physical relationship, you can't really disguise that then, especially if they are less than fully clothed.

Sweeps is a term used for key ratings periods that the networks use to establish rankings plus advertising rates. Two common periods are March and May and a lot of shows plan big events during those times.

I want Nat to say no, but I was just trying to make sense of why the writers might do this, especially if JL is going to have to take some time off at some point.

i don't think the writers can let natalia say yes. it would completely ruin the integrity of the character... and it would totally screw with a lot of the more ambivalent support. who would want to see nat and frank together like that? "i don't love him!"

him proposing is just more drama to prolong the angst--look at all the words and energy put into it around the web in the past couple weeks. ultimately it'll help natalia clarify her feelings for olivia--make her more open to listening.

Like I said... I HOPE she says no. And I agree, it really makes her integrity, state of mind questionable. I just think, though, that they might do it in light of the bigger picture and how they want to handle the timing of JL's pregnancy, moving Otalia to the next level. As I posted elsewhere, I'm leary of them getting the girls together and THEN sending JL on leave. We'll miss too much of their "honeymoon" phase. That's why I think she says yes and then backs out and leaves for a while.

there are so many ways they could deal with the pregnancy leave. i just think the writers have written this too thoughtfully up to this point to toss it in the trash. people point to the amc or ga plot turns, but frankly neither were ever well-written, despite the lip-service.

i also think they might take time to get to the next level--"honest words" may not lead to sex. i.e. natalia goes away for a bit to deal with and accept it.

but a 2nd kiss could keep us around till summer, no?.

Okay, I'm kind of slow but I think I figured something out... Nat will say yes to Frank (March sweeps) but then leave him before the wedding, possibly even at the altar for extreme drama (May sweeps). At that point, Nat will leave Springfield humiliated and mortified about what she's done, thereby giving her time to sort out her feelings for Olivia and allowing JL maternity leave.

Okay maybe I'm being naive here, but I don't think she will say yes, because she told Olivia that she doesn't love Frank. She feels gratitude towards Frank, but Nat only started dating him when the lesbian rumors started, do you remember their first kiss? ekk... I can't see Nat trapping herself in a loveless marriage because she slipped once. I think she will accept his proposal, then call it off last minute (I can hear Olivia trying to talk her out of marrying him, Nat saying it's too late, she can't leave him at the altar, and Liv saying something like, "What? I do it all the time.") and then they have Natalia leave town because she's embarrassed, ashamed for the wedding disaster and confused about Liv. Then she comes back post-maternity leave ready to explore her feelings.

Of course, given how she seemed to be really sort of afraid of hearing Liv's confession, maybe she regresses back to thinking she can deny things through Frank again. Or maybe her fear of hurting him and a combination of other things makes her do the wrong thing, again.

You know, like people that want to break up but keep trying again, etc., because they can't handle the other person's tears/pleas, etc.

they're turning frank into a complete tool. i know i've joked about it previously, but this is just pure humiliation for him. if natalia more than pauses politely to spare frank's feeling in saying no, it totally undoes everything she said the other day... i.e. it's not for the fornication that god hates her, but the hypocrisy.

i'm no fan of frank and i get plot devices, but leading him on even further would make natalia really quite unlikeable, no matter the circumstances.
