with the exception of Force Recon the marines are in no way a special operations force. the 75th ranger regiment is a special operations force. The rangers have taken part in many special operations, including the first Delta Force operation. Also the precursers to the the ranger, the Alamo Scouts, would run recon on islands in the Pacific before the marines would land.
No, the Rangers are not Spec Ops. They are a more technical Infantry force. They bring more sshit and come in by plane thats it. Marines are always the first ones in. Look at Somalia, we were first there then we left and let the Rangers clean it up

There were only 599,693 Marines.
And to answer your question, Marines did serve in Europe. If there is a Naval vessel you will most likely find Marines on it although at that time most were called to duty stations in the Pacific. There were also Marines that served in the elite OSS and helped the French resistance.

Na the Air Force are for professionals not category III and IV ASVAB recruits. They go to the Marines and Army. Besides why would you go Marines? They do not even have Tier 3 special forces. The Navy, Air Force, and Army all have special forces. Also what is up with the Marines and their equipment and dark age style combat system? I have seen guys squads of marines running around and one guy out of the whole group has night vision. Doesn't make sense.

Last time I talked to a Marine, "not some rookie" Force Recon was over with for quite sometime now. I'm not talking about videos. In real life I have seen Marines running around without gear they need. I'm just saying they have not upward movement if you want to go infantry. 3 Tours. OIF (the invasion), OIF 2-2, and I volunteered for OIF 5-7. Five years in and liked it, but I absolutely f***ing hated garrison and most officers. I hated all the bs of garrison and stupid training ops that had no basis on what we were doing in Iraq/Afghanistan. Long story short I loved my buddies, my job most of the time, and had a great deal of pride in what I did. I just got tired of swimming in the bullshit.
What pushed me over the edge was on my third tour my 2nd Lt. was 24 and I was 22 and on my third tour......he treated me and my other buddy also a squad leader on his third tour like privates. The last straw was when my buddy and I got passed over for meritorious sergeant. Battalion promoted a f***ing clerk who sat in the AC of a comfy office while us 03s were pounding sand and getting shot at.
Yeah, hey I feel you. I hate 2nd LTs. FRESH OUT OF OCS! Fuck that. Give them their rank, but give it time to sink in. Just because your an officer doesnt make you better than anyone thats why I hate 2nd LTs. 2nd LTs think they know everything until they get in a firefight then theyy come runnin to the "privates"

We had one guy who was talking like he was big stuff because he had been to Basic and AIT at Benning to a guy who was 1st Cav Div. and had done two deployments (one in Iraq as a Cav Scout and one in Afghanistan as an MP).
Well, our the 1st Cav Division guy put the other dude in his place. He wasn't gonna take any shit from this guy who has only been through basic training like every other guy in his future platoon.
I was trying to enlist in the Guard and go to Basic and AIT myself this summer, between school semesters. But the Guard stopped processing medical waivers cause of downsizing.
Dont go Guard... I almost made that mistake. If you like th Army, go Army. 1st Cav are like our 1st Marines. Not as badass of course not but theyre the 1st Infantry unit. And soldiers they let shit go to their head and they cant back it when you confront them.
I was just going to train with the Guard while in ROTC (do Basic and AIT over the summer), but it didn't happen anyhow cause they would process any medical waivers (have some metal screws in my arm; woulda gotten the waiver if MEPS hadn't halted processing for the Guard).
I'm going to apply for a commission on active duty with ROTC, but also heard there might be a way to transfer to the USMC, and even considered that, though my army friends ridicule me for speaking of such things.

I got a friend in the British Army over in Helmand who just got back to Camp Bastion from patrolling the green zone, and found that there were a lot of U.S. Marines there when he returned there.
It's funny, cause a lot of my U.S. Army friends seem to talk non-stop about how arrogant the marines are, but my British Army friends seem to have generally found the U.S. Marines more likeable guys than the U.S. Army.
We've recently sent thousands of U.S. Marines into Helmand and the big base there is Camp Bastion where my friend is. He was talking about them to me online when he had internet again after returning to Bastion (from patrolling the green zone). He's in 4 Mercian (Territorial Army Infantry; TA being like the Brit version of the National Guard).
Another friend of mine in the Brit 7th Armoured Brigade did a tour in Iraq and another in Afghanistan, and has dealt with both U.S. Army and USMC.
My friend in the Brit 7th Armoured Brigade, who's Signal Corps (radio operator, forget what battalion he's attached to) said that when he was in Helmand, the U.S. Marines seemed to be less stiff and enjoy the company of foreign personnel more, whereas the U.S. Army guys he met were kind of "arrogant" towards the "squaddies"

with the exception of Force Recon the marines are in no way a special operations force. the 75th ranger regiment is a special operations force. The rangers have taken part in many special operations, including the first Delta Force operation. Also the precursers to the the ranger, the Alamo Scouts, would run recon on islands in the Pacific before the marines would land.

No, the Rangers are not Spec Ops. They are a more technical Infantry force. They bring more sshit and come in by plane thats it. Marines are always the first ones in. Look at Somalia, we were first there then we left and let the Rangers clean it up

There were roughly 8,300,000 soldiers that served during WWII.
There were only 599,693 Marines.
And to answer your question, Marines did serve in Europe. If there is a Naval vessel you will most likely find Marines on it although at that time most were called to duty stations in the Pacific. There were also Marines that served in the elite OSS and helped the French resistance.
In regards to whoever you are talking to, take it with a grain of salt... hes probably still in his history class.

That's funny because when my unit, 1-8 IN BN 3rd BCT 4th ID took over Fallujah, we managed to do it with ease and didn't make a big dramatic scene out of it. We went in, kicked ass and shut them the hell up. That place was a little vacation for a few days from the Ballad, Baldah region where we spent most of our time.

Nope... While Force Recon do have missions considered to be "SpecOps", they do not fall under command of SOCOM.
MARSOC is the Marine Corps contribution to the SOCOM.
Most MARSOC operators are former Force Recon Marines and Navy Seals. There are less MARSOC than Navy SEALS! In comparison there is 2500 MARSOC members and almost 4,500 SEALS
MARSOC Operators are retested on language speaking skills (you have to speak at least 2 languages), combat fitness and a bunch of other crazy stuff...

Na the Air Force are for professionals not category III and IV ASVAB recruits. They go to the Marines and Army. Besides why would you go Marines? They do not even have Tier 3 special forces. The Navy, Air Force, and Army all have special forces. Also what is up with the Marines and their equipment and dark age style combat system? I have seen guys squads of marines running around and one guy out of the whole group has night vision. Doesn't make sense.

Last time I talked to a Marine, "not some rookie" Force Recon was over with for quite sometime now. I'm not talking about videos. In real life I have seen Marines running around without gear they need. I'm just saying they have not upward movement if you want to go infantry. You join the Marines make E-6 and your part of the club sitting in your office and living the life. The Army has more dumb asses but you can move up tiers in infantry.

3 Tours. OIF (the invasion), OIF 2-2, and I volunteered for OIF 5-7. Five years in and liked it, but I absolutely f***ing hated garrison and most officers. I hated all the bs of garrison and stupid training ops that had no basis on what we were doing in Iraq/Afghanistan. Long story short I loved my buddies, my job most of the time, and had a great deal of pride in what I did. I just got tired of swimming in the bullshit.

What pushed me over the edge was on my third tour my 2nd Lt. was 24 and I was 22 and on my third tour......he treated me and my other buddy also a squad leader on his third tour like privates. The last straw was when my buddy and I got passed over for meritorious sergeant. Battalion promoted a f***ing clerk who sat in the AC of a comfy office while us 03s were pounding sand and getting shot at.

I'm in ROTC at the moment and we got a couple guys in our program who have been arrogant as hell to some guys who have actually been out in the field. And I just don't understand why they would ever think they have any f***ing right sometimes....
We had one guy who was talking like he was big stuff because he had been to Basic and AIT at Benning to a guy who was 1st Cav Div. and had done two deployments (one in Iraq as a Cav Scout and one in Afghanistan as an MP).

Well, our the 1st Cav Division guy put the other dude in his place. He wasn't gonna take any shit from this guy who has only been through basic training like every other guy in his future platoon.
I was trying to enlist in the Guard and go to Basic and AIT myself this summer, between school semesters. But the Guard stopped processing medical waivers cause of downsizing.

Dont go Guard... I almost made that mistake. If you like th Army, go Army. 1st Cav are like our 1st Marines. Not as badass of course not but theyre the 1st Infantry unit. And soldiers they let shit go to their head and they cant back it when you confront them.

I was just going to train with the Guard while in ROTC (do Basic and AIT over the summer), but it didn't happen anyhow cause they would process any medical waivers (have some metal screws in my arm; woulda gotten the waiver if MEPS hadn't halted processing for the Guard).
I'm going to apply for a commission on active duty with ROTC, but also heard there might be a way to transfer to the USMC, and even considered that, though my army friends ridicule me for speaking of such things.

I got a friend in the British Army over in Helmand who just got back to Camp Bastion from patrolling the green zone, and found that there were a lot of U.S. Marines there when he returned there.
It's funny, cause a lot of my U.S. Army friends seem to talk non-stop about how arrogant the marines are, but my British Army friends seem to have generally found the U.S. Marines more likeable guys than the U.S. Army.

We've recently sent thousands of U.S. Marines into Helmand and the big base there is Camp Bastion where my friend is. He was talking about them to me online when he had internet again after returning to Bastion (from patrolling the green zone). He's in 4 Mercian (Territorial Army Infantry; TA being like the Brit version of the National Guard).
Another friend of mine in the Brit 7th Armoured Brigade did a tour in Iraq and another in Afghanistan, and has dealt with both U.S. Army and USMC.

My friend in the Brit 7th Armoured Brigade, who's Signal Corps (radio operator, forget what battalion he's attached to) said that when he was in Helmand, the U.S. Marines seemed to be less stiff and enjoy the company of foreign personnel more, whereas the U.S. Army guys he met were kind of "arrogant" towards the "squaddies"
I thought this was funny because my U.S. Army friends always paint a different picture.
