  • During this time they were designed in the U.S. but why manufactured in Japan ?, ease of manufacturing facilities ?, I know the labor wasn't cheaper.

  • Hi, thanx for uploading.

    I adore Marantz

    My equipment;

    Marantz 2238 (not the B)

    AKAI GX 4400 D Reel to Reel deck

    AKAI GXC 709 D Casettedeck

    KEF Q 5 Speakers

    Philips 877 Turntable with Denon DL 160 cartridge.

    I love the clarity of the AKAI GX, the warmth of my 2238 and the depth of my KEF´s. I would love to trade my AKAI 709 for this one, although I´m not sure the ferrite heads of the 5220 can compete the glass and crystal heads of the 709...

    Ever compared these? Let me know.

  • Yes, thats it!

  • This is the best-sounding audio cassette deck ever made. Never mind the Aiwa XK-009, Tandberg TCD 3014/A, Nakamichi CR-7 and DRAGON, and Luxman 5K-50 Lab Reference Series, the Marantz Model 5220 beats them acuoustically for a fraction (approx. 1/3rd) of the price in comparable same-condition. With spare parts still available this unit is the King of audio cassette tape decks.

  • awesome unit
