  • That Son of a Bitch can play anything!

  • For me, it's Vai, Satch, Page, Gilmour, Beck, Clapton.

  • merci mon petit momo

  • Dont believe in 2000 year old fairy tales, but this song is one of my favorites of all time. Whether its Beck, Judy Collins, Scottish bagpipes or the Steel Drums of the Caribbean it never ceases to "amaze" me!

  • I pray that I might have a share in the Eternal World to come... Yet I'm a wretched man... I pray for something so solace as this... go cross my path in the crossroads... Give me peace... Lord AND grant me a WAY to Your KINDNESS and Kingdom of love..

  • Jeff eck is God!!

  • Does anyone know if there's strictly the backing track to this song to be found anywhere? Like the choir minus the guitar?

  • Any bodey that sings for our lord is blessed, he is all we got people ! trust him, eventially it WILL come through.

  • All true; Eddie Van Halen has more.

  • Thank You !

  • @llymphs Clapton wasn't deciding, he was maturing from rock to his roots in blues. You don't know music

  • RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan

  • you are all forgetting the message he is playing. Not to Eric or him but to GOD

  • A half million views.

    Amazing Jeff Beck!!

  • here's the hierarchy...Page, Beck, then waaay last is Clapton. (in comparing these 3 guitarists only)...Page and Beck are their own , whereas Clapton can't decide if he's blues, rock , or bubblegum. Who tries to get the "Clapton" sound? No one.

  • @llymphs you are funny! I saw Clapton live - I'm a fan - but I get what you are saying, I can't say I love everything from Clapton, and can't say anything terrible either about him because I know if I ever had the chance to meet him, I would be very excited. My favorite songs are the blues songs and enjoy the solos.

  • @llymphs What is it with you guys who insist on turning everything into a competition ? It all depends on when you saw them and what sort of a gig it was. Page has lots of class, he knows how to dress for the stage. Beck blows them all away and Eric bakes a nice cake. I've played with all of them and they all smoke.

  • @llymphs whoa whoa ... clapton was THE muscle back in the day. Namely Cream. A lot of players go for THAT sound, that vibrato, that intensity. Beck is the only one that kept getting better. Page is a recording legend. Clapton had the fire and muscle. Don't forget Peter Green, Pete Townshend, Harrison even.

that being said ... i agree that clapton's sound after cream is not desirable ... personally.

  • @llymphs it is rude but I kind of agree with you. Was verry disapointed when I went to see the From the craddle tour and Clapton played his tunes EXACTLY as they were recorded... Kind of strange when the album sounded so genuinely blues. I was expecting great and depply felt improvised solos but I almost got the tapes...

  • @llymphs Agreed. Clapton is easily the most over-rated player in the history of the electric guitar.

  • @GuyWithGuitars1 i'de have to agree i prefer at least 10 guys over clapton....i mean the guy can play but in my book he's not all that and a big of chips

  • @llymphs oh god not this argument again...give it a rest already. Listen to the damn music you blowhard.

  • @llymphs Hahaha actually, you're dead wrong. Beck is #1 and more people still aim for Clapton's sound than Jimmy's.

  • Have loved Beck forever...glad I stumbled upon this. R.I.P. Dad, Mom, Gram, Aunt G and Cuz.....love and miss you.

  • <3 JB..and thanks for the JB arm-porn. sexiest arms on earth

  • Rory Gallagher is the greatest

  • Nice pictures at the end there. Cheers.

  • Jeff Beck is without a doubt the best guitar player in the world for style and total originality and feeling. He's my favorite, it takes a life time to be the guitar player that he has become. Melvin Stroud Nashville, TN

  • THERE'S NO ONE LIKE JEFF BECK PERIOD!!!!!

  • 66 year-old badass.

  • im wondering why this wasnt played at the royal wedding?

  • the best solo of this song AMAZING GRACE i have ever heard.

  • song gets me everytime....he is better than clapton

  • That was simply beautiful! Thank you Mr. Beck!

  • The man connects with his guitar like a great singer with their larynx. I've never heard a note from Jeff and thought this could sound better if...it always fits perfectly...always.

  • anyone know a good tab for this song?

  • Had to take a deep breath after that one. If that doesn't make you feel something, nothing will.

  • @Marc329 I know the feeling man !!

  • The first time I heard this I was nearly on my knees, with tears coming down my face. BEAUTIFUL.

  • Some rare picture's of him with sleave's on lol

  • Oh, I really do like that. The emotion that Beck projects from his guitar is amazing.

  • Love this...

  • Amazing and played with such grace. Thanks Beckola.

  • Sigh.............. when I listen to Jeff Beck,I am in another world--a better one. This one's for you my beautiful girls. I miss you so.

  • oh Jeff, just an amazing talent.

  • I heard Beck play Somewhere Over the Rainbow and A Change is Gonna Come in concert a few years ago and it was phenomenal. This is so beautiful, the man has more talent in his thumb nail than I have in my arm.

  • One simple word...

    Emotive..

  • this is the best instrumental version ive ever heard

  • i grew up in church, and think i took up guitar to spite them. this song is in my GENES. and i've never heard it better. i haven't played this song in what? 40 years? and i won't now because i could never match this. and truncheonsandshields, the only other player who made me feel like you express- just give up- is bill frisell.

  • ...For my cousin, Sarah Goldstein...

    RIP our sweet Angel!!!

  • I have always been inspired by this song and from the sounds of it Jeff Beck must be inspired to. It was written by an Captain of a slave slave ship who had a change of heart and turned around and took all the slaves back and set them free. On his way back home he wrote this song. Listen to it and tell Me what U think.

    He's Hands of God,our HERO.isn't?

  • spooky.... how the hell you get a guitar to sound like that ill never know

  • @elebuzz. He uses a slide and a whammy bar.

  • he has the right soul. it's magic.......

  • Amazing & beautiful.

  • Wow.

    absolutely amazing.

  • this version of amazing grace is amazing

  • where can i get that backing track????

  • this is brilliant

  • Jeff Beck meets SRV in 2:51. Awesome song.

  • I like how he uses vocals in place of instruments an instrument in place of the vocals.

  • @halo4484 That's true!!! AWESOME!!!

  • gracefull and sweet

  • sweet ,appealing and very professionally donel

  • Beautiful!

  • seeing Jeff Beck was a dream come true, just being in the same building with my biggest guitar hero gave me chills. keep touring jeff!

  • If I had to choose a song to be remembered by I would definately pick this one

  • never rated the man.

  • Too much like wooten. Overrated and not good sorry

  • how is this even remotely too much like wooten?

  • this is completely different from wootens version, they are both great though.

  • really man? everyone deserves their own opinion, but that is one of the most ignorant and straight up dumbest things i've heard anyone say. they are 2 of the greatest innovators of their instrument, alive and of all time. where is your credibility to make such a bold statement? and what stage is iwelcomedeath on, inspiring thousands and millions of people?

  • He makes his guitar sing, it's soooo beautiful. It makes want to quit playing guitar as I can never emulate that. He's better than Clapton.

  • Use your soul. :) amd good luck-

  • @truncheonsandsheilds You shouldn't quit playing guitar, Amazing Jeff and his music should be an inspiration to all of us.

  • @truncheonsandsheilds Always thought Clapton was over rated myself. Another guitar great that was shadowed by Clapton's commercial success was Peter Green of the original Fleetwood Mac. Phenomenal

  • @truncheonsandsheilds ...Clapton is NO standard. There are MANY better guitarists. Try listening to Peter Green.

  • @truncheonsandsheilds You don't have to emulate him. Find your own sound. :-)

  • Totally Awesome!! and even those words don't do it justice..

  • This gave me chills.

  • Oh My God! This is fabulous!!!

  • i HOPE IT AIN'T FOR A REAL REAL LONG TIME BUT I WANT THIS VERSION PLAYED AT MY FUNERAL...Jeff you're the best !!

  • You know man i agree. This along with people get ready would be adequate for the funeral paying homage to a persons

excistence " Halleluah Praise The Lord".

  • Jeff Beck and B.B King shaking hands .... nice picture of 2 greats ,... The thrill isn't gone at all !

  • very nice

  • Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now I see. T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear The hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; 'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far and Grace will lead me home.
  • Doesn't Jeff Beck and Nigel Tufnel (spinal tap) look a lot alike?

  • lol Nigel

  • I saw Beck a few years back and got a tour shirt, my friends were always saying is that Nigel Tufnel.

  • its based on Beck!

  • Jesus loves him too!

  • well god gave jeff skills what can you say. just hopes he keeps using them for the good side.

  • Thanks!

It's not Who Else. Which album?

  • Merry Axmas Vol 1, not sure if its still available or not. At this time there are no legit releases of his "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", also worth checking out is Les Paul's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

  • Oh Jeff....nobody, and I mean nobody in the

history of guitar plays guitar so beautiful and

    emotional then he does.

God bless him for bringing all us of such joy

because of his service to the guitar.

  • More poetic than words could ever be

  • jeff beck who else???

    JEFF BECK

  • this guy is the king...nice car collection

it was great meeting you hope you remember me Ji

  • How fitting for his induction to the Hall of Fame tomorrow...great slide show. Thanks.

  • This is what sets Beck apart from every other player. His exceptional taste.Lots of guys can go and play a worn out blues riff or a standard rock song.Jeff takes chances and plays what he digs.He can invoke more emotion without saying a word than any soul or gospel singer.

  • jeff beck...steve vai the 2 greatest alive in that oder in my humble opinion...listen to steve vai play for the love of God with the metro and whispering a prayer...

  • Steve Vai quotes Jeff Beck and Allan Holdsworth as his two biggest influences. Good ones to have :)

  • Thanks Bluesfanlenny for this post. So glad I put in my favorites, for a real rainy day. Today I lost my 94 yr old Father. This video means alot to me.

  • I'm very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you. In 2007, one of the hardest things I have gone though is losing my mom. I dedicated this song to my mom, who I greatly miss. take care.

  • I'm a HUGH Beck fan but you might also dig Lincoln Brewster's version. Look it up.

  • As carlos would say "It felt like I touched God's feet"

  • a masterpiece preformed by a master

  • Man, Jeff Beck smokes.

  • Actually I think he gave up smoking years ago.

  • what album is this from

  • wow what a great version of this song itas my fav. song

  • If Clapton is God Beck is Christ. Just to be in his presence at a live show is spiritual! His guitar sings like angels voices, absolutely beautiful!

  • Jeff's such a fine player. What a stunning piece of work. Nobody makes a strat sing as beautifully as Jeff Beck. Angel's footsteps indeed.

  • He is the ONE guitar player... to hear him play is probably the closest I've ever felt to some higher spirit or god.

  • I never thought about it like that but you are absolutely spot on. This is some of Jeffs most beautiful playing, anyone know wheee it is from/when it was recorded???? I dont know why but my eyes are watering.......

  • Merry Axemas Vol I

  • I first heard this a couple of days after you know who passed away (you know who!!) Ryan was collecting music for me ... he gave me lots of tunes, including this gem ... everyone in the class had left, it was late afternoon, the curtains were drawn in room 1150, a little sun peaked through. i just sat and listened with no other sound(s). it truly was a very personal experience i'll never forget. it hurt bad as i bled with emotion, but it was as core as you could get.

  • JEFF BECK is the Bomb No one can play like him with those subtle nuances
