I was thumbing thru a Gempler's catalog recently, Anyone can order commercial grade Smoke generators from them. They are non explosive and come in sizes from 1.5" square to 1.5x5" .they produce a whitish grey smoke that last from 30sec. to 3 min., they look to be reasonably priced! They produce from 4k to 40k square ft. of smoke!
Tip: Most FRS/GMRS radios shut down the transmitter after 90 seconds of continuous operation, so running an open mic wouldn't be all that useful.
I'd switch to a different frequency that a bubblepack radio can't interact with and run a CTCSS or CDCSS code. Heck, with my radios I'd push it up past GMRS frequencies and use 470 or 480MHz (that's a no-no, kids) or low to 410-440MHz.
I'd trust my radios over a tethered and vulnerable (not to mention non-portable) line unless there was jamming.
On the matter of smoke, homemade smoke devices can be made by browsing "rocket candy", and increasing the amount of sugar in the recipe by 25-30%. A coke can full of this will FLOOD a city block with the thickest smoke imaginable, it's not as portable as milspec smoke grenades, as it requires a fuse to light, but there are ways around that to. A few years building model rockets and you learn these things by accident. Food for thought, you might do an episode on improvised combat multipliers :)
A cheap alternitave to long range rifles is a .22 bolt action with a good scope. You just have to practice and make sure you hit them in a lethal spot. Such as the head, neck or stomach to cause significant damage.
Cheap combat multiplier for a retreat...hmmmm.Ok, tires.Car tires..whole feild laid on their side, put berry bushes in em.Lotta other ideas too.. Plus they pay you to take em ....
Excellent, outstanding information! Thank you very much, I just regret not finding this (these types) of channels/info sooner. I need to learn so much, and I am confident that this will help. I will surely view all of your vids, even if I am a bit late to these older ones....Thanks again!
something i saw on your nat geo special which was great by the way and something i would do my self idk about you, i kinda felt and thought it when you said dummie obstical cause idk if youd put a dummie there or its for a dummie. but if there a wrol situation im gunna have signs on my property saying that ya know whatever it be like" if you can read this our snipers can see you" or "more guns then you pick someone else". i myself will do this cause if i was lotting id think twice.
You talked about your son in another video... I wanna see him! I imagine him to be the badass, master of survival, hardcore guerilla - version of Rambo! *lol* Your vids carry a lot of great information! Thanks, for putting the effort in! ;o)
@southernprepper1 would having a machine gun such as the .30 cal browning be better than an rpk? the .30 is over 5 times more than an rpk but the rpk is only semi auto that i have found. would having a full auto machine gun be better than 5 or 6 semi auto high capacity rifles? and what about sub machine guns? or what about a .50 it has range and power as well but is only semi or would a high powered rifle be better? great vid btw gives me a few ideas about how to defend my retreat better
@SuperAdam76 do you think you could afford to supply a full auto weapon. and can you handle being the constant bentover whore of the BATFE? because fully automatic weapons are expensive to buy/shoot and are a pain in the ass to obtain. a .50 cal is just impractical you are much better off with a .308 or 300 win mag. the .308 is going to kill a armored man at 300 yards easily maybe further. the 300 win mag will smash anything they are wearing at 700+yards. .308 is a military round so easily found
@SuperAdam76 For most people I would not recommend a machine gun but if your WELL TO DO and have the available cash and your serious about your family survival then full auto will work into your retreat defense plan. Most people I talk to cant afford the weapon and the amount of ammo that they would have to stock for it. Most people will have to settle with a semi auto rpk.
@SuperAdam76 here is a rpice ish... a automatic .30cal machine gun is 25k, auto m1s start at 15, subs (mac 10) are like 5k.... think about... 5 semi m4s? or a a auto mac 10... or a small army or a 30 cal
@SuperAdam76 - an RPK, even a semi-auto RPK with a few 75 round drums, would be an excellent placement weapon to lay down fire with. With the built-in bipod, you can also learn to effectively bump-fire it with decent accuracy. I'd take it over the .30 any day.
I have seen many technical videos on survival and various tricks and gadgetry, but still no greatly planned tactical strategy that has ever resulted in the execution of offense or defense as projected. Projection is necessary but not as important as the ability to adapt with the tools in your tool box. Thanks for promoting a tool box at all. I doubt that many of the tool box owners are proficient in the use of the tools they own. Paintball skirmishes are an excellent training ground.
You never tell civilians "about"something and not go into detail. You just gave a 10 minute video about combat multipliers, "civiianized" combat multipliers. For example you talk about scanners, but thats the problem just talk. You have at least 10 videos right there. If you want to help, take the field phones and family radios, scanners do 1 video on them. you gave so much info I bet a newbie said "I cant do it" ,,,something to think about.
@donfachabella I totally agree it was fast and Iam planning on doing videos on individual items but there is so much to cover and I have limited time. I could do this full time and put out a indepth video everyday but this doesnt pay the bills and take care of my family so I dont think my wife will understand why the family is going without but I have alot of videos on youtube. I understand what your saying but time is limiting me.... sorry.
@southernprepper1 I think your video was a general statement because there is so much more to dive into. No apology necessary to anyone as far as I am concerned. If you provoke thought and eventually inspire a paradigm shift in thinking you are doing fine. I would like to get your perspective in being faced with the compromise of moral, ethical, and spiritual values in the action of taking a life. Self defense may not be adequate to equip. The defense of others or so that others might live?
@southernprepper1 good video, my weapon setup is actually a scoped mosin nagant and a amd-65 for upclose. Do you really trust the AR? I can buy them for 500.00 almost brand new here because they jam up could be user error but id say roughly 40-60% of the AR-15's in my area are bought and sold immediatley. I can go to any gun shop in my area and there are atleast 2 ar platform rifles and almost never AK's even the cheap century ak's dry up fast here
You can build a cheap mans UAV for arial reconnoissance for under $250.00, very nice to have to get that Gods view of the area. make sure you use electric motor's. you can cut the power off and let it glide around and not be heard. large wing span like gliders is best.
If you want to use them at night. you will need a higher end Transmitter. these can be preprogrammed to do the same route every-time and return to the same spot of launch. can also be used as a guided missile as well. just FYI
thanks for the vids mate, i can tell you put a lot of work into the material you present. my problem is that i live in australia and i can,t get acsess to the sort of fire arms that you guys get in the states. so was wondering if you had any ideas for the survivor with less fire power. i have an old 22 rifle that belonged to my grandfather and a compound bow.
Could you please make a video in which you show how the light stick trap works? Or just a video on boobytraps to alert you. I read the military manuals on it, but some things ar still confusing to me. Thanks -Nax
People in my subdivison suck, try talking to them about some things and they look at me like I am crazy or it'll never happen. I am trying to secure a property out in the countryside but money is tight and I don't know if I will have enough time to fully prepare. I have no help, no people of like mind, not even my family. Only myself and my wife.
I like bright lights in the right locations with motion detectors, LBE's increase combat effectiveness and finally I'd say history has taught is that strategically place boobytraps can help protect an exterior border and giving the impression that "they are everywhere". Just be careful with the boobytraps cause they don't discriminate. Everyone should be clearly informed and reminded as to the boobytrapped locations to prevent unintentional detonation. my 2cents
Good to see more pertinent and accurate information being put out there for the masses.
I've spoken to people in my neighborhood about what seems to be heading our way and how to prepare, and the usual attitude is one of entitlement. They mostly agree that badness is coming, but seem to think that if we go WROL/SHTF etc. that I will take care of everyone's security. Only a precious few neighbors even want to consider having any plans or coordination.
One thing, on the family radios. If they have a privacy code it will make it much harder for the other side to hear what you are doing. If you then have preassigned channels with codes to go to it a radio is hot miked, the hot mikeing will not work.
Field phones are great, but you can't carry one around everywhere.
Trip flares, boobie traps, and motion detectors can be used to help your people watch an area, and slow an attacker.
