  • why dont u go ahead and grow a human heart or are still not there yet even though the technology is right

    come on

  • @CDB72298 There doesn't need to be a necessary balance if humans beings were to expand and colonise other planets, and that's obviously going to happen and when it does, that's when overpopulation won't matter.

  • Comment removed

  • @CDB72298 I'm sorry but you must be mistaken, life and death are completely separate. The thing is with this is that, it cannot be.stopped, this is just basic science in another 50 year's time because in about 50 years time we'll be very close to understanding what age is and how we can manipulate it, basically live forever.

  • @1123joey i get what your saying about how in 50 years this will be basic science but life and death are not completely separate with out life you cant have death and with out death you cant have life. Because if no one died the world would slowly overpopulate like it is now. If no one died the resources of the earth would slowly deplete and then every one would die. So if you did not have death be apart of life then death would eventually over power life, and there must be balance.

  • Depressing that this video is 4 years old.

  • why the negativity ? this is a gr8 start to saving lives...imagine your mum going to die from a heart probleM and needing a transplant... BAM ! there you have one !

  • Pig heart l0l

  • that is not right. To me the medical technology we have in 2011 is just to much. If some one is going to die from a heart problem it is there time to die. Death is apart of life and that should not be messed with. Every person has a time to go.

  • @CDB72298

Yes, but that doesn't mean that we can't delay our deaths.

  • @TheSonOfDumb That is true

  • @CDB72298 I'd like to hear you say that laying on your own deathbed, or telling your son whilst he lays on his waiting.

  • I'll probably get hate for this comment but why does everyone have to bring religion into everything .___.

Can people please stop judging an entire religion because of a few crazy people that believe it?

  • one step closer to me becoming a Space Marine...excellent!!!

  • It's sad how you ignorant and arrogant atheists bash spiritual beliefs without any deep knowledge in such practices. I'm not bashing atheists; that would be hypocritical. I'm bashing all IGNORANT and ARROGANT peoples of all nations. They spoil society's progress towards worldwide peace. Sadly, we will never reach world peace, for humans will always be ignorant, arrogant, and filled with evils. If you're going to critique a belief, you better have something better than "oh fuck them".

  • @humbug1029384756 According to Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, Atheists are the most knowledge group concerning religion. It is your right to believe whatever you want, but it is also our right to "bash" it. Don't voice your belief and expect to be immune from criticism.

  • @mattrR678 you make it sound like I have a religious belief im defending. I never said i had any religious belief. Now, as an atheist, let me correct you. We may have the most knowledge on religion itself, but we're so ignorant on the foundations of the religions. So few study their practices. We only look to their history and most simple and basic teachings. I may not have lived so long to be old, white haired and all knowing, but i'm old enough to conclude this through my experiences

  • Now lets create brains with common sense to replace those in wallstreet

  • Comment removed

  • fuck religious and chrisitans and lets support stem cells.

  • @MrKingtyrant05 first of all, it IS supported you arrogant and ignorant twit. secondly, "fuck religious and christians" grammatically does not make sense. it's people like you who spoil our progress towards worldwide peace. thats why peace won't ever be reached.

  • @WooSukSuks lol trolled

  • This is incredible. I wish I could help the scientists and work on this >o< wow just imagine.. other people not having to donate organs and we could take them from pigs!

But being a vegetarian.. hopefully from pigs that died from natural causes :(

  • This is wonderful, this will help so many people. Those scientists are incredible.

  • I'm sorry, but I find all of you DISGUSTING! You people don't realize that this is a good thing that has happened, thanks to these scientists. Why are you guys putting religion into it? I believe in God and I know that everything that he has created and done is for our own good. He sacrificed his life for our sins! Does it matter what religion we believe in? Did your preschool teacher not tell you about not judging people? I am happy that they found a way to create a heart. It could save lives!!

  • 0:55 :>

  • This sounds like they were talking about using adult stem cells to create hearts for humans, which, at least, the catholic church supports. The Catholic church is only against embryonic stem cell research, which wasnt mentioned once in this story. All you people saying that the reason we cant have this is because of Christians, wise up, stop being so ignorant.

  • 2008 - artificial heart

    2018 - artificial human

  • @xuanwee1996 We can keep a human alive with pretty much most of their main organs gone (heart, lungs, kidneysetc) - but we will never ever be able to create an artificial brain

  • @copperkipper1

Never say never. Give it a couple of centuries.

Not that a new brain would be much good to you, since everything you are is within your brain. Destroy the brain and you still end up dead.

  • @copperkipper1 I'm just sayin, tho. But who knows?

  • Jesus: Water into wine.

    Man: Makes a heart.

    Fuck you Jesus!

  • why is everyone hating on Christians, look, im a christian and i believe in Christ and i believe this is incredible experiment and everyone whos looking down on us, well maybe your confusing the Catholics with us , i am christian and i support this marvelous creation in science

  • @mvpbrandon Now you're implying you hate Catholics? Kinda hypocritical, don'tcha think?

  • This gives me hope that my dad might one day be able to get a new heart and will live to see me become his age...

  • @shellyonee All the best

  • This is incredible. c:

  • omg facts bitches

  • I'm just going to put this out there, I'm a truth seeker, neither atheist or believer. But I have to say, a discovery like this makes me believe in both God and Humans even more! It's incredible how this team of scientists have managed to create a functioning rat heart. However, it's also incredible how complex the human body is that simple stem cells can adapt into any specific cell they're exposed to. Keep in mind, the scientists didn't create the stem cells.

  • OK who here would really put a pig heart into there body? You freakin hybrids.

  • 0:10 Jason Statham ftw

  • if it were'nt for religion we'd have had this technology for centuries, we'd have likely cured cancer, technology would be 2000 years ahead of time

  • This is so AWESOME!

  • Can faith do this?

  • @brianpwnsjustin If you believe in faith then you believe that faith created the stem cells which actually do the work of reproducing the heart.

  • "We are willing to admit it's a crazy idea."

No it's fucking not. It's a brilliant idea.

  • Christians will reject this idea until they're on their deathbed waiting for a heart.

  • Send this to the anti-stem cell research extremists.

  • BUILD A BRAIN

  • Comment removed

  • why aren't we funding this??

  • @mypetridish Because stem cell research starts with a fetus. Can we use your child's fetus please?

  • @minecraftsmpmine dead or alive? abortions or after birth?

  • @minecraftsmpmine well if they are aborted I don't see the problem.

  • @mypetridish There are plenty of Christians who work in science. Don't judge a billion people on the raving lunacy of a few fundamentalists.

  • @mypetridish Excuse me? You don't know me, so don't judge.

  • @ocb1000 We are...

  • @ocb1000 We absolutely are funding this; it's most likely grant sponsored university research which we all pay for via agencies like the National Science Foundation.

  • *Goes on reddit where intelligent and respectful individuals comment about this video* "COOL!" *goes on Youtube and looks at top comments* Typical....

  • @ajaksbackpac Your comment about reddit ruined the video for me.

  • This is all good and I'm glad people may benefit from this but in the end the reality is that we all die and become non existent, with nothing to our name except a headstone to say we existed......... if we're lucky.

  • The Elite are going to kill most of us and will use this technology to stay alive indefinitely. The people that are sick now and getting these organs are Guinea Pigs!

  • Fuck yea, Go Minnesota!

  • LOL is funny how ignorant people say A HUMAN DID THIS NOT GOD..who created that human?..ofcourse god knew this was gonna happen,he created us to serve a purpose in this world...read the bibe before judging...ignorant people smh!

  • @saldierna18

The bible also tells us to have slaves and many many other horrible things. I guess it's a shame that there wasn't something about you, the real ignorant fool here, jumping off a cliff. I'm willing to bet with the utmost certainty that you have never read the whole bible

  • @saldierna18 Yeah he knew we would do this, just like how he knows there are millions of starving africans and doesn't do anything about it

  • @saldierna18 The bible made me an atheist.

  • @SuperBromander The qu'ran, bible, torah, scripts and religion in general made me an atheist.

  • @Avataryoutuification Good for you!

  • @saldierna18 I'm sorry, did you just call people that don't believe in the bible ignorant? Ok...I'm pretty sure if you actually read an followed the Bible then you'd be considered a serial murderer, as it does say you should kill people who work on sundays.

  • @saldierna18

    Cool story

  • if there going to save that manyhumans we need to realy hurry up and make living in space a realety coss earth cant take that many humans. hell it cant take the number of humans alive now

    \

  • Religon holds us back from doing wonderfull things..Not God.

He gave us everything in this world we need to live a full life.

  • @datni99aman

    Yeah sure ,

A god created crappy hearts , cancer, aids .. because its a crappy god , how clever

Intelligent humans invented the cure he couldn't.

Ignorant humans invented the Gods HELLO this is XXI century ! how can u still think about imaginary beings created by some self named religious leaders who only make up stories to suck your will and your money . Mythology is Mythology

This is Science! the REAL world!

  • if God gave it to us, then he must have no problem with it. embryotic stem cells are from fertility procedures anyway, they would have been thrown into a garbage can somewhere if not used

  • @afeeder Did you not stop to think that reason 'adult' stem cells have provided the vast majority of results, is because thats the only thing thats allowed to be studied? Regardless of your moral or religious standpoint, embryonic stem cells have far more potential than adult ones, nobody can dispute this.

  • @fredrictatonmaster

It is true there is more adult stem-cell research, because it has received much more federal money in the US, but embryonic stem cell research has still been ongoing this whole time in the US, as well as in Asia and parts of Europe especially the UK. Theoretically ES cells have a lot of potential, but this has proven difficult to translate to real-world treatments and researchers have been giving us empty promises for over a decade in regard to them. Not to mention tumors

  • good we can save lives. but what happens when people wount to live forever then what? do we give a timelimit to know when and how to the day.if you need a heart grow it need a arm leg or eye just grow it no problem here and no i dont to die or see grandmother die but we all have a time a new heart is not cheating till your 200 years and on 3 heart we might beable to grow a heart but we will never be able to grow a soul

  • thats for mouse not for human come on make a heart for a sick human not mouse

  • Bless your heart, mcnattmc... I've come to know Him personally... and you'll have plenty of opportunities to yourself if you choose to...

  • Why the Hell is this not available at the moment? I'm going to put a preorder down for a liver.

  • Theres a muslim a christian and a jew hitting the dislike button ..

  • @f4q1r

    Christians don't mind pigs

  • Most Christians don't know what being a Christian is. They just claim their one.

  • We have an ADULT STEM CELL SYSTEM in place at birth which releases stem cells (nonspecific master cells) from the bone marrow into circulation which become ANY cell in the body depending on what we need for RENEWAL. This IS NOT embryonic stem cell associated. The cells used in this research had NOTHING TO DO with embryonic stem cells!~ We ALL have a RENEWAL SYSTEM in place after birth :)

  • Spectacular! and definitively speaks VOLUMES to the amazing plan of our CREATOR... not just some FLUKE development! We are Children of God... capable of things beyond our ability to conceive... SO EXCITING! Thank you Dr. Taylor... Change the World!

  • @entheos22 HUMANS DID THIS NOT GOD. THERE IS NO GOD.

  • Three idiots hit dislike; must have been murderers who don't want to see thousands of lives saved...

  • Here's a question for those who would consider an embryo a human life; if you were in a fertility clinic that was on fire, and there was a child in one corner and a tray of embryos in the other, and you could only save one, which would you save? Remember, if an embryo is a human life, you would be saving more human lives by saving the tray of embryos.

  • @HiddenFacedMatt

As a Christian, I trust God's will and plan for my life and the life of the child's. I would save the embryos (because they can't yet save themselves) while yelling to the child to run to safety. Sometimes bad things happen, but I know that God will is good and that out of tragedy great things can happen. Similar to the Tucson shooting, the young girl that died (because of human sin) was tragic, but now she is in heaven and many young people have turned to God.

  • @MMA4Christ

I'm sorry, but as a Christian I find your comment on the Tucson shooting reference being over the top. I too believe God has a will. Do know that he created man with a purpose in life. People (like you and me) have a purpose and goals we can all achieve for God's will and sake of our humanity. The scientist who help find medicines, cures, and new technology to help heal individuals is a blessing in disguise. I don't know how you can't seem to understand that logic.

  • I hope ACT can continue smoothly. They're already also planning for treating pretty much everything on the body lets not forget the eyes.

Imagine Bill gates of Steve Jobs would've go blind 20 years ago... where would the world be today?.... aah, no more losing disciplined talents that can make world changes.

  • I trully wonder when such technology will be available to the public. Is it just me or is there too much FDA red tape?

  • Ever noticed there is always a chinese guy in these kind of breakthroughs?

  • Why do people think religion is against this?

I am about as fundemental as the next Creationist , but I support stem cell research , and nothing holds me back , especially religion.

  • Of course we will never see this in practice because the pharmaceutical lobby is just too strong to allow such a simple cure. They want you to cure only your symptoms, not the disease itself.

  • Look at all science has to do just to figure just a little bit of what life is all about.

Then they will turn around and say God is not an option.

  • Finally! You see what we can accomplish without the limiting shackles of religion?!?

  • @boomtao to grow a heart is not rong as i see it and i am a christian.religions do stand in the way of science but what dose religion bring to the table love conpasshon given of oneselve if it be blood or there heart up on there death good thing have come from religions take it away and who would cear then it would be a religion of not god but of money if people didnt love then thay would hate= killings its only the body we repairing not the soul but its nice to know i can get a new heart need B

  • @boomtao

plain ignorance. Religious people are against use of EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS, not adult stem cells. It would be nice if people would take the time to understand these issues before they start hijacking them for their own agenda, but that is far to much to ask with many people.

You can thank religious people for keeping most of the stem cell money into researching adult stem cells which is providing the vast majority of results

  • @boomtao YOU GOT THAT RIGHT

  • We as a species need to move outward from our home planet one day, and the transition from a type 0 civilization, to a type 1 and so on...Our future beckons, we will answer and explore the universe...this only gives me hope..

  • @boomtao

This was done with newborn stem cells rather than embryonic stem cells which is what the Christians are against. Try again.

  • @boomtao OH MY GOD!!! YOU'RE NOT STUPID!! You are a dying breed my friend.

  • I could use a new heart.. -_-

  • awesome! cant wait for all of religion to die.

  • @AcidSh33tz lol same here

  • i dont think religion needs to die i think it needs to update itself lol buddhism is ok anyway

  • @AcidSh33tz Yay!!!

  • @AcidSh33tz how will religion die due to this, there not denying it are they..?

  • @drhfhs some religions believe the soul is in the heart? They could perhaps create new life in the future. More contradiction could happen.

  • @AcidSh33tz What does religion have to do with anything? Just because someone is religious doesn't mean they oppose stem cell research. Granted, most people who oppose it happen to be religious, but that doesn't mean it's all bad. Quite frankly, I consider myself to be very religious, but I actually agree with stem cell research. I think it's great and I'm still a Christian. Don't go lumping people and groups together just because of what a some people say. We don't always share the same ideas.

  • @AcidSh33tz

What the hell does religion have to do with this?

  • okay...its almost 2011, looks like 0 progress to me

  • @papynda no o.o they want to make sure first

  • Stemgevity is a new product to help stem cell growth

  • my son is one who would bennifit from this. i hope they hurry it up. he need a new heart and lungs to go with it thanks to all the open heart surgeries. anyways.. great job science, keep it up.. thanks to bush, we are 10 years behind.. maybe we can catch up now.

  • For anyone who comes up with the "Playing god " shit.. Thugs take guns, knifes and kill people everyday NOW thats what I call playing god.

  • @HunBountyHunter007 we are made in his image. so it goes to say, we take lives into our own hands. to take them or to save them.. we even make them through reproduction, or test tubes.. it doesn't matter, god gave us the knowledge and the will to use it, and the free will to choose what we do with it.. thats all that counts.. playing god is one thing.. its calling your self, and proclaiming your god thats the bad thing.. we call that a god complex.. hahaha..

  • This is the best news I could ever hear. Orangeplumbob, I am in the same boat as you, have a congenital defect that the Dr.s have said i got about 10 years before I go on a transplant list. Seeing this technology makes me think that within the next ten years I might be a the benificiary of this science. Reguardless of God or any other diety, I'm glad medical science is doing something to allow my children to keep their father.

  • This is amazing! Im a CHD (congenital heart defect) survivor who knows that life is priceless and short lived. I have had many close calls and recently was told that the next time my heart goes into CHF I will need a new heart. Science has always been on my side. Ive been through different breakthroughs in the cardiac world and this breakthrough is HUGE and I hope that when and if I need a transplant I can get something like this without the risk of rejection.

  • My daughter will one day need a new heart so i am ecstatic that they are thinking about this now.

  • repo guys will come to take it back haha

  • Anyone having a problem with this, should take it out with someone that is on the waitig list for a new heart.

    Amazing! Go science!

  • w00t for science, what has God done lately? That's right, nothing!

  • @Colinski03 sorry but God is the reason why you are still alive, he is the one who gives the knowledge to mankind even though man wants to compete with Him. You should be thanking him that you don't need of those heart plants. Anyway, don't be surprise about this, watch future tech. GBY

  • god gave us our talents to make use of it and be productive on this earth. to make better our lives. but when we abuse it for our own gains at the expense of another or use it for other malicious intent, God would see you fit for punishment (his wrath is truly unforgiving and painful unless you repent)

and when you have not wronged anyone but encounter problems in your life, God does so to further you in life (no pain no gain...you know the old saying)be strong and accept mistakes.

  • @bigjoe777 and what does that have to do with this?!? please, take your preaching someplace else.. being able to save lives is a GOOD thing. no matter if we are overpopulated or not. one of those people they save, could be the next great mind of our time.

  • but if God's gifts are abused... he will take it away from you through the most painful way possible. (king solomon used arcane knowledge to teach his wives how to use, and they in turn used it for their own gain and called themselves god.... god saw this bitterness and told solomon that his kingdom would be divided in two because he promised his father, david, that he wouldn't destroy the israel)

  • actually its more like this. the reason we experience pain and suffering is because of the punishment of sin God put unto adam and eve after their betrayal in the garden of eden (read genesis...i'm tired of repeating old lessons)

But because they ate of the fruit of good and evil (knowledge), we learn to create and to destroy because of our need and understanding to gain and to accomplish.

God admires knowledge and grants anyone wisdom if they deserve it (King Solomon)

  • @bigjoe777 well what is wrong with saving lives? I know too many chirstians that dig deep into the verses and scriptures. But really the summary/main message of the Bible is just to love. God told us to spread the word, not conderm others. By doing this, what do you accomplish? Do you really think this will convert anyone to God? My friend, just plant seed, preaching comes from within, be a living example(like helping the poor, go to hospital and help sick kids), we can't understand everything.

  • @sam199166 I have one of those incurable diseases, I believe in God and live a spiritual Life. I have absolutely no issues with saying yes to completely heal and live without my pain, fatigue, future cancer and liver transplant. The truth to me is that science and spirituality fits beautifully together through books like Keys of Enoch and similar texts. I am leaving for Mexico in a few months to get this treatment and I bless science, the Doctor who is also Spiritual in every way with my heart.

  • This is amazing! A new beating heart in a week! The uses for stem cells are endless.. It's mind boggling

  • Comment removed

  • Thank GOD! He has given man the knowledge to be able to do these outstanding miracles. For those who are against these God given miracles and the people who are stopping this wonderful progress, tell us about it when you or someone very close to you needs help for something life threatening or debilitating.

  • Humans beings have been cloned. If not in the U.S. in other countries like China. It is possible and history shows that when something is possible it will be done, morals and laws be damned...

  • They aren't talking about embryonic stem cells in this video. The embryonic stem cell debate is highly overblown anyways, as adult stem cell research is much more promising, as seen in this video.

  • Stem cell research is fascinating and exciting. The use of embryonic stem cells is very controversial of course, so something that really excites me is that researchers have found a way to basically despecialize some cells. These cells are called induced pluripotent stem cells. This stuff is so exciting. It's just reprogramming already specialized cells which makes them act much like embryonic stem cells.

  • Why not take a dead persons heart and use that?

  • Comment removed

  • well on are way to living in that arnold movie the sixth day...they've already cloned humans for a while now.

  • @DoctorSess and I bet my ass you got that information off some site from the internets because hey - the government is lying to us isn't it? -.-

  • @Griesmayer thats only my belief. hahah if you think the government isn't lying to us, well don't even worry about it, don't hurt ya head! human cloning is possible right now, today. if you can clone a pig, a sheep, a rat, a dog, a cat, a monkey...you can clone a human. do your homework. Obama addressed the issue saying something like "we wont clone human beings because it is morally questionable". my question is when has morals ever stopped them before?

  • @DoctorSess not morals, but law. If you'd clone a human, you'd be a criminal. And you cant clone a human in some back door dark alleyway where you wont get caught. You need modern apparatus that will attract the eyes of many.

  • @Griesmayer alright then when has law stopped them before? the CIA has carried out plenty of illegal and immoral experiments and activities over the years...MK Ultra comes to mind. Laws and Morals never stopped them and it probably never will. They will use any and every technological advancement to their advantage in order to maintain their power and control. It's not like it's some secret.

  • All throughout history religion has stood as a huge snag to human progress. If they had it their way we would still be living in a flat world with the sun revolving around us. I have nothing against religion i just dislike the establishment when you cut it down thats all that it is a private business just like any corporation difference is that their ceo is the son of god.

  • @subliminalpain im not religious by any means, only spiritual. i think mankind's spiritual maturity needs to catch up with its technological capabilities. instead of free energy we build bombs that destroy entire cities...we've got a long way to go. cutting edge technology in a child's hands is a dangerous thing.

  • ok, i have a solution, how about those people who want the treatment get it, and people who dont want it due to religious or ideological reasons just avoid it. Its win-win for both sides. :D

  • whoa

  • Harvesting Hearts FTW!
