looks amazing im going for shawarma tomorrow with a pal o mine, the place is called agagbi its located in oakville ontario the best shawarma ive had, although i havent tried yours hahah, but i have sampled many shawarma im so excited.
This should be in the diet section of your websight. I make it with lean meat and leave off the chips. (the desi in me also requires rice to be served)
in greece we eat pork shawarma but it isn't as spicy/aromatic as the arabic/israeli shawarma, we just put paprika, oregano and lemon on it i think. also, we lack your lovely pickles (although the word for pickle in greek comes from arabic, torshi) so we stuff our "gyros" with chips, tomato, onion and tzatziki if you're from the mainland or zingy strained yogurt if you're from crete.
nice recipe, i might try it sometime although i'm surrounded by delicious lebanese restaurant!
Titli.... In a little ally, in the old town of Damascus, you'll find a small restaurant called Al-Siddiq, you also get to eat the best Shawarma in the world, they've been making and broiling shawarma for the past 60 years.
It seems a little insulting for a colony of people to claim that their version of a food the Native Arabians eat is better. Very insulting indeed. Kind of like American people of German descent saying their fried bread is better than the Native American fried bread.
Sorry Titli , this isn't a shawarma. a shawarma literally translates to "roticery" , if it's on a roticery with a sheeps tail fat on either end its just called a chicken sandwich :). Not trolling but it's true.
@0RespectMyAuthority0 Yes, I know, but how many of us have a rotisserie in our kitchens? This is a way for people to emulate a schwarma at home if they don't have a Schwarma Shop round the corner from their home...
@TitliNihaan Shawarma is beef, and only beef... a chicken "Shawarma" is called a "Shish Taouk". Just letting you know, a good job otherwise on the videos! :)
These things are really really nice. Just made two. Yum yum yum! but the cutting meat really thin techinqiue is by far the best thing in this video. That just works brilliantly.
Yogurt in shwarma? Yogurt in tahini? That's definitely not the Israeli way and Israelis make the best shwarma. Tahini is supposed to be just tahina, garlic, parsley, and water. That tahini looked as thick as hummus!
@TheBigLipowsky I see the words "Definitely", "Israelis make the best", "Supposed to"... I also see a Food Fascist and a Troll. NO place for people like you on my channel.
@TheBigLipowsky LOL. Two things; a, Israel can suck a rather large bag-o-dicks and b, how is an Israeli gonna describe THEIR method of making shawarma? That's like a guy from Wisconsin telling a Napoli native how to make spaghetti...
hey going to make this for iftar on saturday, can i add some other ingredients to the marinade for the chicken, or is the one u used gna be just as flavourful, i was thinking of adding chaat masalas and other spices? would it work?
Titli rules!! I love her recipes and methods. They make world cuisines accessible to all without being pedantic or patronising. You, Titli, are my culinary hero! Congrats ^_^
the whole recipe is wrong.....tahini sauce with chicken shawerma?? u serious? it is suppose to be garlic paste. The bread is not even middle eastern. It is a tortilla bread. U never add cucumbers with any kind of shawerma....oh lord u crazy white ppl gotta change everything
Than me? U sure just me? I am born and raised in the middle east and that's definitely not the right recipe. If u go anywhere in the middle east u know what I am talking abt but until then keep thinking ur making middle eastern food "your way". Salam!
@TitliNihaan Honestly I agree with soccergirl about the recipe that it's different than ours. But anyway you mentioned that this is Shawarma the way YOU like it so she should have expected it to be different anyway . So there was no reason for soccergirl to write that comment. Thanks for the video.
@newventuresband It's easy to make an vegetarian shawarma, you simply don't use meat. Instead of meat you can use some beans, rice, and/or any kind of cabbage you like.
Just start of with cooking the rice, then add the beans and cabbage and some spices, until you have a nice mix instead of meat. Just be creative :)
LOVED this video, loved your rants, loved doing some positive trolling! I can't say S*******ma either lol. I also can't stand tahini, lol, so I do that cucumber yogurt stuff on gyros yumm! It also must be the desi in me, but I love S******ma on rice with the bread on the side, because how can you have dinner w/o rice :p <3
@enigma21able Tahini (tahina) is a paste made from ground-up sesame seeds. Some supermarkets sell it, but try and find an Asian store - they are sure to have it!
Next time make a Shawrma with meet around a wheel, just to be a smartass. "Many people were complaining because I didn't have meat spinning around a wheel before marinating the meat. So watch me spin it around a wheel. WHEEEEE"

@BlackWolf4830 A few people expect me to have all sorts of contraptions in my kitchen. A tandoor, a wood-burning oven for pizza, a charcoal grill for Turkish kebabs, a rotiserie for doner and schwarma, and a dirt patch in the middle of my kitchen in which can cook Kleftico. I just have the regular hob and oven. Oh, and my trusty chainsaw for boiling eggs.
On an unrelated answer, camel meat is usually considered halal.
